I secured a reservation for 1:45pm while driving up to Nevada City from Sacramento. It was nice that there were so many dining option times, so I selected 1:45pm from the "restaurant" list option. TBH, the only reason I chose to have lunch here was because the ("inside") pictures on their Yelp page looked cool. I was expecting to dine in a "cave-like" room with intimate lighting and stone walls. Is that what I experienced? Unfortunately not. First off, parking was terrible! Due to the Victorian Festival, the adjacent restaurant parking lot that says "restaurant parking only" was completely full from the people visiting the festival. We had to park 3 blocks up the hill. For the amount of cars parked in their restaurant parking lot, it didn't add up to the people actually dining inside, so the restaurant needs to do better in managing their parking lot and tow cars that shouldn't be parked there. Management, where you at? Once we walked in, it literally felt like 10 minutes until someone actually helped us, but they weren't busy like that. Servers would walk by us and didn't acknowledge at first, I noticed this because I made eye contact with this individual but he tried dodging. So weird. First rule in customer service, acknowledge- even if you're too busy to help, just say "hi and someone will be right with you." It was as though I was invisible, again so weird. When we were finally seated, they only had high top tables which wasn't really convenient for us since we had the baby+ stroller, but it is what it is. Slightly disappointed that the room did not look like the photos from other past patrons; room did not look like a cave and it was dark but not in a good way. My Crispy Chicken Sandwich was the lifeline of my visit. It was seasoned right and consistently crunchy with every bite. My side salad was dressed with the perfect amount of dressing. Huge plus, the chicken was a thigh piece which is my favorite and a must with chicken sandos. So.... Would I eat here again? Probably not. I think there are other restaurants that need to be explored in Downtown Nevada City. If you're reading this and have a recommend in town... please let me know ;) TIA

Stone house was delicious. We're so grateful to have such a quality restaurant that is open late!!! We absolutely loved the orange wine. Sooo yum. The ingredients were fresh, well balanced & delightful. Congratulations for the hot new menu! Highly recommend. The dessert was AMAZING. Definitely recommend the chocolate dessert.

A classy place with a full bar and many vegan options. Live music, too. Service is friendly and fast!

I can't say enough about my many experiences at Stone House. My hubby and I stayed in town at the National Exchange Hotel and ate here both nights because it was just too good! More recently, I took my parents out who live locally but have never been, and they did not disappoint! I think the gnocchi was one of the best dishes I've eaten in my life! The food and service was too notch. Highly recommended!

Burnt thin pizza. Husband ate around the burnt crust. Again, to serve a dinner like this is unacceptable. We should have sent it back

Don't let the pictures on their website fool you. To say we were very disappointed with this restaurant is an understatement. My husband and I went to the Stone House last night for dinner. First off, parking is ridiculous. The parking lot is very small and the only reason we were able to get a spot is due to me having a handicap placard. When reviewing the menu, we noticed that it wasn't even close to the menu on their website. I asked the waitress about this and her response was, "it changes all the time." The menu was very limited so I felt like I was just settling on the only beef they had on the menu, which was a hamburger and fries. (I could go anywhere to get a hamburger and fries. Very disappointing) My husband's $24.00 pizza came out with burnt crust and was very thin. (see picture) My $22.00 hamburger was ok, but the french fries were terrible. They were extremely greasy and soggy. When the waitress asked how our food was, I looked at my uneaten greasy fries and said, "These are really greasy." Her response was, "they are cooked in olive oil, so it's fine." Ummmmm, ok, who cares. They were grossly saturated in oil and I couldn't eat them, so no, it was not fine. (see picture) (Note that she did apologize as she handed us the bill, but a better apology would be to not change us for them. This is what a good restaurant would do) We are 39 year locals, and we will never go back to this restaurant, nor will we refer them to our family or friends. The entire menu is overpriced, and two out of two plates were bad. If I had to say something good about our visit, it was the live music with Mr. Green. He was awesome.

The brightest, freshest flavors I've ever experienced! Each bite was better than the one before and we tried a lot of their menu. The star of the show was the Ube Pesto, and we had a star for entertainment too, with an acoustic set in the tavern area. Our server rocked, and the food came out quickly. We can't wait to bring family to check out this amazing spot!

We had a fantastic first experience, trying out Stone House! I wanted to take my mom and sister for their birthday dinner. Stone House went above and beyond and greeted us with lemon drops (I added that to our reservation notes on Open Table) which made the start to our dinner perfect. The food was excellent, so flavorful. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect warm and cozy, classy and clean. If you haven't been give it a try for date night. ALSO, their pistachio tiramisu was 1000000% the best I've ever had. Thank you Stone House.

    Delicious ribeye!

We highly recommend this restaurant! Delicious food, amazing service and chill vibe. Great music selection to top it off. We had the ribeye and fried chicken two days in a row.

After finding the stone house we've become regulars. The new chef is designing the most mindful menu I've ever encountered. He just launched a "Louisiana Hot" deep fried chicken on tallow. It's the most f&$n stooopidly amazing meal i can recall having. The midnight martini is also not to be missed.

Ambiance: Great, cozy vibe with lot of brick. Bustling but not too loud. We were kind of tucked at a table without a ton of room around it, so that was a little awkward to wiggle into. But overall, if you're in Nevada City, this is definitely where you want to go for a special dinner!

So, today along with my mother we went Sotherton Tea Room for their Queen's Tea Experience. When we arrived a little after 4pm, there was a mix up with the Open Table reservation. Our reservation was for 4:15pm. However, the owner stated they don't take reservations that late, and have had issues with Open Table. Thankfully, they were able to accommodate us, and we were able to have the Queen's Tea Experience. As for the tea we tried the Obstinate Headstrong Girl and Triumph of a Lucky Guess. Both smelled and tasted very good! We each enjoyed savory sandwiches, quiche, cranberry scone, and dessert. All of the food was absolutely delightful! The menu changes monthly so it gives an excuse to come back for sure! The tea room itself is beautifully decorated and cozy. If you are a Jane Austen fan, this place is for you. Then on Valentine's Day, he surprised me and said he found this place. Initially it was fully booked and our reservation was for outside on a cold afternoon, but we showed up early and the staff was super cool and had a seat for us inside. I'm so glad we got to sit inside because I was admiring the lovely interior. They had fun couches, lovely chandeliers, and various flower arrangements. The day we went, it was fully booked, and we sort of got lost in the mix initially when the staff was explaining things, but once they figured out it was our first time the staff was super eager to explain things to us. We tried a couple different teas, enjoyed all the different sandwiches and deserts. Normally I only drink iced teas, and so they were super cool to provide me with a glass of ice so I could enjoy my teas. My favorite one was the first one they poured, which is the Obstinate Headstrong Girl. Overall we had enough time to only taste two teas, so we will for sure have to come back to try the rest. The owner was super friendly, I explained to her that normally I don't like scones but their scones were tasty and different. She explained a little about her technique, experiences in Europe and what separates theirs from all the rest I've tried. It was a fun experience, made for a very memorable Valentine's Day, and will for sure be back in the future to try more teas!

It's always been minimal yet warm, but something felt off this time and the one before. The usual calming video of California waves was missing, replaced with a blank wall and '50s oldies music that completely clashed with the vibe. It felt disconnected from what usually made this place so special. **FOOD & DRINK** Ramen: Severely under-seasoned and watery. What used to be a flavorful, hearty bowl now feels lackluster and uninspired. Wakame Salad: The portion was noticeably smaller--20-30% less than usual. Not what I've come to expect from this place. PRICE: $$ I've always been willing to pay premium pricing for the quality, atmosphere, and service, but this time, it just didn't deliver. **SWAG/AMENITIES** - Cozy and unique decor (still a plus) - Menu variety for tea and ramen lovers - Used to have a calming atmosphere (not this time) **STAFF & EXPERIENCE** This is where things really fell apart.
