If you know what Yellow Jackets are (huge, aggressive wasps) and you wouldn't want them in your apartment for over six months, then Parkview Apartments is NOT the place for you. This has been an ongoing problem since we moved into our apartment. We were not told beforehand at all that this would be a problem, nor have any actions been taken to remove them before we moved in. Professionals have to handle infestations of Yellow Jackets (according to several pest control websites) since they are very aggressive insects. My roommate and I have tried numerous home remedies in hopes of thinning them out, but it obviously hasn't worked. Parkview Apartments clearly doesn't care, and they haven't even asked us if we've allergic to wasp stings. (That could probably turn into a big legal issue if one of us ends up getting stung and have a reaction). And they are HUGE, easily twice the size of a normal wasp. (I included a pic for size reference) Went to Kristi at LEAST five times and she's horrendously unprofessional and rude. Kristi hasn't done anything to resolve this problem, other than referring us to their contracted pest control guy who has absolutely no idea what he's doing... She's refusing to help us on this matter because she's too arrogant. There are other tenants who have had yellow jacket problems, too. Look at the reviews of CHT on Google. CHT has less than 2/5 stars. Almost everyone is saying they wish they could rate CHT 0/5 stars with the biggest complaint being "they don't give a shit about their tenants". And that's true. They care more about the money than they do about their own tenants. Despicable.

The apartment had beautiful wood floors, 1 1/2 bathrooms (one of which was located in my bedroom) and spacious bedrooms. The kitchen had lots of cabinet space, but was a bit outdated looking, but that's not too rare in Madison. Extra bonus? Beautiful, well-maintained courtyard--with a pool! The management was unlike any other that I've encountered in Madison. They were unbelievably responsive to any maintenance requests we had (and there were few, since the apartments were well kept). On the morning of my move-in day, my refrigerator began to make a noise that sounded like an airplane taking off. It didn't stop all day. Because it was a Sunday and they couldn't get the parts they needed, they apologized profusely and told me they'd take care of it the next day. I came home from work the following afternoon and....BRAND NEW REFRIGERATOR. That's amazing. Any time we had problems with sinks or toilets, they were there within a few hours to fix it. The lady who ran the office (Kristie, I think her name was), was the most polite and friendly customer service person I've ever met. She remembered who each tenant was, which I thought was remarkable. Given the prime location and general loveliness, I would even go so far as to say that these apartments aren't too overpriced. I think we were paying about $900/month for a spacious two-bedroom, with all utilities included, except electricity (and heat wasn't electric). Woohoo for Parkview!

Rent plus utilities, parking, and fees cost over $1800 each month for a 1 bedroom. We had poor light compared to the 2nd and 3rd floor and the room was really humid. All my plants died and it took towels 2 days to dry on the rack. The washer and dryer took something like 4 hours to do a single load. Cell phone reception was terrible. Maintenance was slow. You had to haul your garbage through the other building, which was such a pain. It was one of the worst decisions of my life to move here. I will admit we got our entire deposit back (over $1500), which was the only positive.

There is TONS of natural lighting in the unit and I can make each room dark just by closing the blinds. The underground parking is a serious bonus as well. There's also an exercise room on the 6th floor with a variety of machines. Management is super helpful and reliable when I reach out to them. One day I noticed there was an issue with the elevators (they wouldn't come when I pushed the button to call them), and by the time I emailed management a few hours later, the elevators had already been repaired. It's about a 4 minute walk to the UW Hospital and is less extremely convenient when going to shopping centers, grocery stores, etc. Also, the parking garage is very easy to get in/out of. Overall this has been my favorite apartment to live in, of any (I have lived in 5). I would recommend it to anyone wanting to live on the west side.

When they are done with a repair there is no trace that they were there except a friendly note explaining what was done. Tim maintains the grounds beautifully. I love my apartment! We lived there for 2 years, first year was ok, we didn't mind the bad attitude of the maintenance guy, if we asked for something or some maintenance request, his answer was, " send the request to for maintenance" With management we had a situation of charging over for an extra parking space in the garage , but we didn't mind that either, even though it was affecting our credit score because it was showing bus as delinquent for many months. But as I said we didn't mind any of that bcz we liked the neighborhood and the apartment. Continue.. During fall we found very bad mould on the windows and one of the corners of the bed room also on the living room patio door, we cleaned that, then reported to management, their response was for us to clean that and dry the windows constantly do we avoid the situation, we kind of did what they said on fall, winter came and the mould was bigger and the wood was all rotten, management sent the paperwork for the next year contract, my husband told them. We will continue living there but they had to fix the windows situation and the wood. We ended up being threatened by them, stating we will be evicted if during WINTER we don't leave the windows open all day long to stop the mould growing, the maintenance guy was getting in the apartment no notice and arranging my courtains, damaging them as he liked, and when I said something the manager came back to tell me that I'm not letting him work and that I would end up evicted for that. Middle of winter, contract for next year already signed, what could I do? We lived that year and half, counting the days and waiting for the great moment if leaving that people If after this you decide to move there,,, is in you BTW that mould situation lasted for more than a month, they threatened us, after a couple of weeks we called the city and miraculously the maintenance guy had the time to fix the wood, at least, the mould problem will continue there, those windows are cheap and bad!
