One of the funniest sights I've seen in a shoe shop is the 175cm plus high schoolers perched on the stoop at Stomp having their school shoes fitted. The tier is clearly designed for the littlies, putting feet at eye level for the salesperson - it's practical for the older kids too, but it looks pretty hilarious.
Put your tongue firmly in your cheek, however, and hope your teenager can do the same, as it is it is far nicer to nip into a local independent to shed out the high price of school shoes than to wait around endlessly in a department store or brave the odd cheap leather smell of the off-price shoe bargain shop. Stomp makes an effort to build relationships with local customers, featuring timely school shoe promotions, carrying or ordering the sizes and fits you need, and maintaining a database of regular customers to ensure they get frequent-buyer discounts.
Both you and your teen (daughter) will gush over the gorgeous wee kids shoes, which is really what Stomp specialise alongside the school range. Largely imported European, these are shoes-for-best in dinky colours with accessories to make even the most lux-weary toddler beg for more. read more
