She makes an effort to get to know you and your hair needs and desires prior to your first appointment. Once you are in her chair, she again takes her time to continue there consultation until you are both on the same page with the way to proceed. If you dislike busy salon environments and stylists who make you wait, or rush through the cut, you will love the atmosphere at Beauty by Devin. Currently there is only one other stylist working in this same location. The experience feels much more personalized and intimate. It's a very relaxing and professional ambiente. Devin had a cheerful, yet calm demeanor. She is kind, knowledgeable, confident, talented and dedicated. Devin clearly wants you to be happy. She also clearly goes out of her way to teach you how to style your hair at home. If you are unhappy after you leave, you can go back for adjustments within the first seven days. By the time I was about to head home from my first appointment, my hair had been detoxed, conditioned cut and colored, and I felt great about how everything came out.

I've been Googling, Yelping, and whatever else to see what's near my new area and I stumbled across Devin via Yelp! I reviewed her portfolio, stalked her Instagram, and read all the awesome reviews about her. I took a leap of faith, and scheduled a Luxe Shaping appointment. Devin is so warm and friendly, and she did some things to my hair that no other stylist has done and explained to my why she did the things she did. She took her time with me and we really got to know each other on my first sitting! Seeing that she totally knew what she was doing, I scheduled a hair color appointment for the next month. My hair color appointment took 6.5 hours, which is usually normal considering I have thick course black and teal hair trying to go to coral. She seriously gave me all of her attention and even bought me dinner because I was there for so long! In the end, it turned out way better than I could have imagined. The color is so vivid and matched the photo I showed her to a T. She even took some extra time to walk me through how she does the beachy waves because I'm incapable of doing anything stylish with my hair. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

For years now, I've kept a mental "wish-list" for my perfect hairstylist. *Must be professional &…read morerespect my time. *Work on one client at a time regardless of how long it takes. *Not use "assistants" but work on your clients hair start to finish with no interference. *Demonstrate excellent knowledge of hair minus stereotypical hang-ups & beliefs. *Be willing to educate me on how to take care of my hair at home with actual steps & product recommendations. *Display an interest in keeping my hair healthy & maintain a file of my progress. Now, this list goes on because I've yet to meet anyone to fit the bill. I've had maybe 20 stylists throughout my life & only 3 were even worth mentioning, until now. A few weeks ago, I came across the salon name "Se Mo Hair" while browsing Yelp for a new AA stylist based in the NW burbs. I found a thread with a list of salons meeting this criteria. Several are no longer in business & I had a "been there, done there" experience with two of them then I read an unfamiliar name (Se' Mo Hair) so I googled it & came across stellar reviews though surprisingly none on Yelp. I then called & spoke to Sheri who was so polite, professional & welcoming over the phone & even more so in person. During my first appointment, Sheri gave it to me straight (my hair is damaged & very dry). I knew about the dry part but was surprised to hear about the damaged part. I mean, I knew I had **some** breakage that I was trying to grow out. Mind you, I've had a steady stylist for a few years now & the dryness was a consistent concern while the breakage was just mentioned in July. Ugh! Sheri suggested a wonderful new regimen for my hair & while I was ready to get a relaxer touch-up, Sheri's knowledge, expertise & suggestions convinced me to go another way. She knows her stuff & on so many different levels of hair care. I consider myself well versed in the area of skin & hair maintenance but she dispelled myths that I believed to be true. I'm 35 & this is the longest I've ever gone sans relaxer (4 months) & I don't plan on returning. I couldn't believe how bouncy, shiny, smooth & straight Sheri was able to get my hair without using chemicals, intense heat or overly saturated products. My hair has never looked so healthy, bouncy & shiny - I'm amazed by my results & it's only been a few weeks. Suffering from PCOS, I lost a lot of hair in 07 & it's been a love/hate relationship with my hair every since but I am starting to LOVE my hair again & can't wait to see what else Sheri has in store for me. She meets ALL of my wish-list requirements & I never thought I'd say such a thing. Ever. Sheri specializes in healthy hair care, hair restoration, customized wigs, extensions & a product line for all hair types & ethnicities. If you dread having your hair weave/extensions or replacement tended to in a crowded salon with all eyes on you, call her, she can help! Another perk? Every appointment is customized depending on what your hair needs. For example, I've had three appointments with Sheri so far & every one has involved something different. My last session included a high frequency scalp treatment & unbelievable scalp/neck/shoulder massage, definitely singing her praises. I am not a paid advertisement tho I am a freelance writer & love spreading the word on businesses, services & entrepreneurs that catch my eye/attention. : )

Not only is the work of this group of hair artists absolutely INCREDIBLE, they're also such an amazing bunch and the ambience of the salon is so zen and positive, one can't help but walk out of there feeling like you're levitating! I think I come here for the camaraderie, and the conversation, as much as I come for the hair artistry. Twylla is awesome and is always collaborating with the other artists and providing guidance. Courtney (the good hair witch!) has colored my hair twice - first she applied a clarifying treatment and gloss and then she colored my hair a fiery, fall red; both times I walked away feeling like a million bucks! I contacted the salon and waited five days for a response. I specifically asked whether Marek would personally fix the cut, as I had previously paid him to correct a haircut by Dira. I was then refunded and told, "To be very clear, Dira wants to and loves doing precision cuts. She is one of the best. We're sorry you were not a fit." I appreciated the refund, but was disappointed that the haircut itself was not addressed and that my concern was characterized as simply not being "a fit."
