Some sales manager named Reefer or something like that is very disrespectful. I went in there ready to spend my hard-earned cash. I even came up significantly from my first offer, and he was rude and dismissive. I went to shake his hand to tell him we couldn't go higher and he left me hanging! What kind of man (especially a salesman) would ignore another man's handshake? Not surprised they have a 2-star rating. Even if they called back and accepted my offer I would not give them my money because of how Reefer talked to me. Some people work and save their money. Other people, like Reefer, are disrespectful thieves. As I was walking away, this asshat yelled "Good luck finding an explorer for that price!" read more

As a Volunteer Fire Department, we need reliable vehicles and trustworthy partners. We recently tried to order a new F-250 from Stiver's Ford, and the experience was a disaster from start to finish. We will not be back. We went to them with a clear list of needs. We are a rural department, so the Fx4 package was a mandatory, non-negotiable item. We needed a diesel for power, room for tools and a water tank, and the ability to haul it all. The problems started with the ordering process. Instead of a clear build sheet, the sales rep gave us a cryptic spreadsheet full of codes and prices. He "walked us through it," telling us things like "if you get this package, that one is included" and "you don't need to add this, it's already in there." We specifically requested a Red or White truck, and he flat-out told us no, saying we could only order black or Ford would "kick out" the order. We trusted his guidance as the expert. We then waited 5 months. After finally getting the measurements and specs from them, I placed the order for our custom water tank and pump. A week later, the dealer calls in a panic, saying the truck has been on their lot so long that Ford is charging them, and I needed to come get it immediately. I went to pick it up, and the whole experience felt rushed, like they just wanted it off their lot. The truck wasn't even properly cleaned, and it had just enough fuel for me to get to a gas station. As I looked it over, I immediately noticed it was completely wrong. There was NO Fx4 package. This was our single most important requirement. It had standard street tires, not the all-terrain tires we discussed. It had no upgraded shocks and no under-armor skid plates. No locking differentials. When I confronted the rep, his only excuse was, "Well, I ordered what was on the sheet." This is the same sheet he told us how to fill out, the one with codes we couldn't understand and were assured included everything we needed. His "solution"? He told us we could just order a new truck and wait all over again. After a lot of arguing, he went "up the chain" and came back with a terrible offer. He said they could install the upgraded shocks, but at an high additional cost. They weren't going to do anything about the missing Fx4 (like the locking differential) or the under-armor. To make matters worse, when the extra parts we had to order for them to install finally came in, they tried to charge us even more labor for installation, even after the labor was supposedly wrapped into the initial (and already high) cost he quoted us.  I requested that labor be refunded and we took it elsewhere to have it installed. We are a volunteer fire department running on community funds. Stiver's Ford completely disregarded our critical needs, misled us during the ordering process, delivered the wrong vehicle, and then tried to gouge us to partially fix their mistake. We cannot recommend them to anyone, especially not to other first-responder agencies who depend on their vehicles to function. We will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

I was working a car deal with one sales person. The sales manager, Patrick was involved. While working out the numbers, this crook went and sold the car thru another sales person. Shady AF. What a joke! My wife and I had 5 trucks picked out we were going to buy one. We couldn't even look at 3 of them because they hadn't been inspected and "certified". We drove one truck and I opened the hood after to find oil sprayed all over part of the engine compartment. The salesman and sales manager both looked at it and kept saying it was missing a sensor or cap. I kept asking if it was the oil cap and was told no. I finally asked them to show me the oil cap for the engine and when they couldn't find it, they kind of admitted it might be missing the oil cap! How can a certified used vehicle be trusted if the service department can't even put the oil cap back on the engine! When we asked for a price, the minor discount was more than offset by an added equipment fee for wheel locks and a huge documentation fee. The final price was more than the advertised price on the website! Needless to say, we walked away without purchasing a vehicle. read more

I went to try and purchase a vehicle. I only gave my permission to run my credit through 1 bank and they ran it through 3. The sales person (who worked the numbers) was very very rude and unprofessional. He did not care to try to work with me and kept interrupting me when I spoke. After declining their service, due to the way I was being treated they continuously called and sent text messages to my phone after they were declined the first time and I told them I was not interested. I also tried to call and speak to someone about how they ran my credit more than they were given permission to and the person hung up in my face. read more

I've been trying to find another Hybrid Escape to replace my wife's practically new Camry (2021 but gets about 32 mpg vs the 44-45mpg I get in my hybrid Escape). I submit info and get a call Saturday morning saying they've got it. I get ready and drive to Montgomery. (3.5 hours) Within an hour, I get a call back that the one I inquired about was sold, however, they have one available in Birmingham. They I ask if I'd be interested in that. I say sure. I get to the dealership and find out that the one in Birmingham is still in transit. They want me to go ahead and do the deal without the car and tell me they'll deliver it for free. Here's where it gets interesting... right now is a trader's market. You can get close to payoff or payoff when you trade. I know, I've traded three times in the past year. I research trade prices through NADA (JD POWER), KBB, and dealers such as CarMax and Carvana. I know what my car is worth, especially a low mileage, 6 month old car. These crackheads (I guess the sales manager) offers me thousands below trade value. Literally thousands. Second, the online price on their website that shows you saving x amount of dollars... that's a joke. Just a gimmick to get you in. Also, if you're fortunate enough to have X Plan pricing, you don't here. The gimmick that got me to drive up there in the first place was: their online price was close to my X plan pricing. I thought, I'll pay a couple hundred more to get the car that I'm looking for without having to order it... I made mention of this to the guy and also told him the doc fee would be a deal breaker because I only should pay $100. He said there doc fee is $499 but will work in a $400 discount. So... I get there, the car's not there. The price is MSRP, not the internet price. The trade value is way off. I'm ready to go. These crackheads run my credit with everybody and their brother EXCEPT Ford Motor Credit and we're miles apart on a deal... miles apart... needless to say, this dealership is the worst of all of the dealers I've ever dealt with. I'll be ordering my Escape in the morning through my local dealer and will gladly wait. I know I'll get a fair trade value with them AND will get X plan pricing and finance through my preferred lender. My advice is to stay away from this clowns. read more

Made an appt with the service dept for 8AM on a Wed for a couple of repairs. Dropped the vehicle off and heard nothing back. I called the service advisor on Friday and was told I was 9th in line. I was under the impression an appointment meant that's when they would look at it! Called back yesterday which was 2 weeks after dropping the vehicle off and they told me they are troubleshooting the truck. Worst customer service I have dealt with in my 63 years. The message below was sent to the general manager, Jim McCain on March 6, 2023. As of today, we have heard nothing back which isn't really very surprising. We will never go to this dealership for any reason. They have no concept of the meaning of customer service. On February 22, my husband, Dan Scott, and I brought our 2021 Ford Transit into your service center for a scheduled appointment to determine the source of the check engine light being engaged. Our service advisor, T.J. Graham completed the paperwork and obtained a loaner vehicle for our use. Before leaving the service area, I asked how long this would take and was advised by TJ that anywhere from 7-10 days. We noted that the van was driven to the holding lot to await service. We purchased this van to do a conversion. We were in the midst of this work when the check engine light came on. We did not anticipate the van would not be available to us for this length of time when we made this appointment. No mention was made of this kind of time frame just to get a diagnosis of what the problem was. On March 1, 2023, I called the service department to check on the progress. I was advised by someone there that the van was in the truck service area. I asked if it had been worked and was told that she didn't know but she would have someone give us a call. We did not receive a call. On March 2, we received a call from TJ advising us that the key had been lost. Since we only had the one key, he would have to have a key made. We drove out to the dealership to see what was going on and observed that the van was still in the holding area. Why were we advised that the van was in the truck service area if the key was missing and consequently could not have been moved? Lie #1 On March 3, we drove to the dealership where Dan confirmed that TJ had obtained new keys for the van. Additionally, TJ confirmed that the van would be worked on that very afternoon as soon as the technician came back from lunch and that he would personally give us a call before closing that night to confirm what work would need to be done. We did not receive a phone call. Lie #2 Today, March 6, we drove to the dealership and simply told TJ that we wanted to pick up the van. He offered no explanation or apology. We left and took the van into a repair shop where they did a diagnosis and apparently, we need a new catalytic converter. It was disappointing to say nothing of inconvenient to encounter the incompetence of your service department. You can be sure we will have nothing good to say about your service department to anyone and everyone we know. Dan & Maggie Scott read more

after searching far and wide, I found the truck that most closely fit whT I was looking for. Since it was a 2 hour drive, I called to be sure they had it on the lot, which they said it was. They lied! I know, what do you expect from politicians and car dealers! Due to the times (also, I needed a truck and the options were few) there was no negotiating, so paid MSRP (somewhat a win, as other dealers were asking MSRP+ 10k). I was told that it was being used as a "loaner" (they claim ALL NEW cars are in the loaner program) and it would take several days to retrieve it and detail it. i don't usually purchase anything sight unseen, but they promised that it would have under 2K miles and be immaculate. Again, both were VERY FALSE and never intended to be kept. When delivered, the seats were stained, the bed was scratched, gouged, and dented. i sent it back! They, again promised to clean it, put a bed cover in it and give me $500. This time, I drove the 2hours to pick it up and had to clean the windows myself. I had it detailed PROFESSIONALLY when I got it back home and NEVER received the $500. So.... Stivers ..... where you get a USED car at NEW car prices!!! read more

I noticed the reviews before I called this place but didn't think it could be that bad. I was told two days ago on 6/6/23 that the salesperson would sale me the vehicle for msrp. I called and texted on 6/7/23 and couldn't really get much of a response. I sent them the info for my trade in but never really heard much and said I was interested in the truck. I called and texted today and didn't hear much. I said I wanted the truck and get back in touch with me. He finally responded almost the end of the day. He said the manager would call. He did and asked me to send him my information. I sent it to me right then. About an hour later I said I was available to talk some more to see what was going on. The salesperson finally responds and says they are waiting to see if a guy buys the truck. I already said I wanted the truck so I can only guess they wanted to see if they could get more money from someone else. I buy a ford truck for work every two years dues to mileage. Looks like I will have to try something different than a Ford. The dealerships have gone crazy over these prices. I wish Ford would step in and do something. Stivers Ford will never get my business and this may be the last straw for me buying fords. I realized I'm not the only person they are doing this too after reading these reviews. read more

In Sept 2019, I brought my 2015 Ford Expedition to Stivers for service as the check engine light intermittently appeared, related to a code P0299 (Super Charger Underboost) per an AutoZone check. I was told I had a bad sensor and/or leaky hose at the turbo charger. It took Sept 4-6 (a Friday) for the specified repairs, costing $818.96. The check engine light came on again over the weekend, so I returned to service on Monday. Another diagnosis showed a different error code, a bad catalytic converter. I was quoted $796 to replace the converter, that I declined. I continued to drive my vehicle with the intermittent check engine light into Aug 2020, assuming I only had a converter issue. 1Sept 2020, I opted to readdress the check engine light issue at AutoZone, with results again showing the sam error code PO299. I immediately contacted Stivers, and the earliest appointment was 5 Oct 2020. Diagnostic showed there was no problem related to the prior work/parts, but rather was related to a new issue identified as TSB 16-0013. I was given a RO quote of $3834.78, parts/labor to replace turbo, again I declined. I paid another $99.95 for this diagnostic test/information. In rechecking the current issue codes, and talking with Stivers service staff on 5 Oct, there was no indication of a past or current catalytic converter problem. Why, what changed between my return visit on 6 Sept 2019 to 5 Oct 2020? The original problem of the intermittent check engine light still exists, after having remitted to Stivers more than $900 to fix it. After two diagnostic tests, and questionable quotes to remedy the problem, I have just lost trust in your company to render the needed repair(s) at a reasonable cost to me read more

First time ever going to Stivers Ford. July 27, 2021, I waited in line, inside vehicle outside of service garage for anyone to approach. Nothing. Got out and walked up to someone, asked if he worked there. He smiled, seemed nice but was a manager so he asked a technician to help me. That person (tech #1) said I'll be right with you. I waited for an hour. Took my info, said he'd run tests & call me. Ok. Left my 2016 F-150 Platinum there... no call. I popped back in 2 days later, was helped by a different tech (tech #2) and told that no one had tested it yet. Three days later, man #2 called to say it had been tested and it'll be $1500.00. It must've been written on my forehead. I agreed because I need my truck to be safe and reliable. Two days later on Fri Aug 6, 2021, I popped back in. Truck hadn't been touched. Mechanic had a death in his family. Was promised a call on Mon when mechanic returned. Today is Tues Aug 10, 2021- no call. No tentative completion date. No attempt to impress a first time customer. No attempt to build loyalty. They still have my truck. My whole family drives Ford vehicles in TX w/great service so I had high hopes for continuing good experiences in Montgomery AL. read more

Oh no no no no!!!!!!! I contacted SFL for a particular used vehicle. After 5 emails, 4 texts and 1 phone call, I mistakingly though this test drive might go smoothly. Um, no. I was made to wait in the lobby as two different agents passed me off to a third agent who was busy on the phone. (Please keep in mind that the vehicle I wanted to seat drive was almost 30k). After 20+ minutes, I was told that the car I came to test drive had "just been sold" but that a "comparable" was available. 1 year older and $1000 higher.... ok I said I would test drive it but I had reservations.... The car made weird noises during the drive (which PATRICK, the salesman, claimed to not hear). The Mercedes-Benz did not activate the rear view camera unless the radio was on. And the rear view would not stop even when the forward drive was engaged. Patrick's answer: " I don't know anything about Mercedes." Followed by "I guess all Mercedes do this", followed by "damn German engineering." Really???? Really??? I told him that I did not want the car because of a) the weird noise and b) the rear view camera shenanigans. He told me that the rear noise did NOT exist and that It was dumb to pass on a car based on a rear view camera. I tried multiple times to get to my own car door but found the way blocked by a man who was 6'+ (I am 5'2"). He repeatedly told me that I was wrong for dismissing a car with obvious faults. He repeatedly blocked my access to my own car door and repeatedly told me that I was not leaving before I looked at another car. He did not leave me in peace until I told him that he was wasting his time and should bother someone who might actually buy a car. I went further and told him that even if the best car are Earth were in his lot, I would not buy it from him. It was all I could do to get him to let me open my damn door and leave in peace. In conclusion, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!! This dealership and it's car salesmen are not worth it, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE FEMALE. read more

This dealership gave us the worst experience I have ever had in attempting to purchase a used car. They had four different people working with me. Marquis was the only one of the four that had any idea of how to treat a customer. We had been sent a proposal with a firm price. When we tried to negotiate, they actually went up on the price saying that the deal they quoted to us was only if we financed the car with them. The document sent to us clearly stated a cash price. Oh, in fine print on the link to to document, it said "your price includes financing discount". The actual contract said nothing about it. Stay clear of this dealership, unless you like painful experiences. read more

In a word: SHADY!!! Went in here to look at a Mazda 3, and decided I liked it well enough to buy it. I had been searching available colors in the area and they had a white one at a dealership in Atlanta but I wasn't really picky on the color. The price that this dealership was asking for the exact same car (options wise) was about $2000 more than the dealership in Atlanta wanted. They tried to tell me every excuse they could muster up, like: "that's a teaser add", "there's only one at that price", and "it includes discounts you might not qualify for." So, while they were doing that really annoying thing where the salesman, and the finance guy let you wait endlessly in the salesman's office, I called the dealership in Georgia, and asked what the deal was. Turns out he had 3 at the price advertised, the price was not a teaser rate, and it was before any discounts... So I bought my car from Hennessy Mazda in Georgia. Please check their prices before buying anything from Stivers... read more

Scheduled an at home test drive on a Saturday, the salesman was a half hour late to the appointment. He took my car for a trade appraisal and was gone for 4 hours, and said that it would be too late in the day to run paperwork for financing on the new vehicle. He said that he would call Monday morning. He did not. I called him around 10 AM and asked him to start paperwork, thinking I could sign and take delivery of the car after I got off work at 4:30. At 6:45, 15 minutes before they close, he called to tell me that I had a choice between the price I was quoted online, or the promotional zero percent financing, and that either way, the payment would be $50 more than we had already calculated. I told him that they can keep the vehicle. TL:DR got jerked around for almost 2 days, and was given a choice between a 5% interest rate or $3000 more than the price I was quoted. read more

I bought a "new" Ford f150 Lariat Supercab from Stivers. It was advertised as new and showed 41 Miles on picture of interior. I paid to have it delivered to Jacksonville, FL. Given the mileage it should have shown, there was a "missing" 500 plus miles. Only after a slip by sales department on phone did I learn it was a "loaner vehicle" which might explain the broken windshield and several cuts in the leather seat upon arrival. After over a month and after speaking/dealing with 3 different levels of management I received a new seat cover in mail. Stivers, after significant prodding, paid for the install and the windshield repair (not replacement). The credit/financial department was an absolute abomination. They held my payoff check until the last day before I would have been reported as in default by my creditor on the trade in. Also they did (3) credit inquiries (presumably shopping deals) which significantly hurt my excellent credit. I drove my new truck for several weeks unregistered (temp plate expired) while they bumbled their way through the registration process. My salesman always responded promptly to my inquiries but nothing ever happened without seeking higher and higher management. read more
