Stine lumber is like the hardware stores your father or grandfather brought you to years ago only much larger One does not have to search and search and search for someone to help them, the Stine team is always there to help. Prices are comparable or cheaper to the other national big box stores. Stine has a larger selection for many items such as stainless fasteners. Michelle the young lady working behind the customer service counter was absolutely awesome. Kyle the gentleman working in the garden center was great also. This place could have gotten a 4 or 5 star rating. if it weren't for the person working the register in the garden center rubbing their nose before handing the customers their change back. Thank God I had exact change and did not need to get any money back from him. I don't care what is going on it's never a good idea to do that. It's bad enough we have to now worry about more than just the common cold or flu. read more

I was led to Stines for the purchase of a new washing machine and dryer. I was met by Luke P.in that dept. in the Lafayette store. It had been years since I had been in the market for a new machine and dryer. I was explained all the new technology of the new machines but I stressed to him I just wanted a machine to do my clothes and a full size set of sheets and maybe a blanket here and there. I was not into a computerized wi-fi start my machine while driving home from work. I just wanted simple regular washer and dryer. He ended up recommending a GE Hotpoint 3.8 CUFT top Load machine and the matching GE 6.2 CUFt Elec Dryer. I purchased and had it delivered on 3-22-22. Since I wash twice a week and its only myself I was shocked that this machine is loud, and travels all over my utility room. I am 66 years old and have done laundry for many years and never have seen a washer as this. It bangs and moves. I am to the point I want it out of my home. Is there any way you could work with me in puchasing a new and maybe larger capacity machine. What my investigation found is that a 3.8 CuFt is not very large. The price was okay compared to what I purchased on my older machine was in range so I did not question him after I told him what I wanted. You were a local business and I try and support local businesses. What should or what can be done. It just made a year and I am not happy with the washer AT ALL. Being that I travel a lot and I'm originally from the Chicago area I am used to frequenting the "L" or the "H.D." major hardware stores. However, with the recent storms I have had the treat of coming to Stines a half dozen times in the last month and I must say, I'm impressed! I have purchased a water fountain and also a leaf blower and the service people where great. A women actually helped me with the fountain and she knew what motor to match up to it, shim kits, etc and I was like "wow, these people know their stuff". Honestly, I really love Stine's and think they have a great selection, prices are pretty good, and the staff is friendly. However, the last time I was there the manager treated myself and the person I was with, in an unprofessional manner & I can't tolerate being talked down to, so I am leaving a 4 star review. I hate to hold the actions of 1 individual against an entire company, but this guy has been working there for a long time, and should know better by know. Or, you would think! read more

I was greeted immediately upon entering the store and was asked if I needed assistance in locating anything. That was nice. I was then directed to the door/millwork department and was again greeted immediately by a gentleman named Donald Case. He showed me examples of what the store had in stock and offered many helpful suggestions. This led us into their warehouse and me looking at cypress planks. When I was done there, he walked with me to another department I was needing to look at. I have never walked in any kind of store that is considered a superstore and been greeting by each and every worker that I pass by. I even had a conversation with a very generous man about his family and how proud he is about the success his sons and daughter have. But outside of the A+ customer service, the store was very well kept, not disorganized at all like other home improvement stores. The displays were eye catching. I just hope that business starts to boom as soon as the ambassador extension opens so they don't end up with no business. This family operated store deserves much of your business. read more

I would have loved to buy a steil chain saw 2 months ago at stines but was unable to find anyone to help me I ed walk up to several people that worked there an they ed scatter maybe it was lunch or maybe no one felt like being at work that day I tried 3 times but got discouraged went to lowes an got one then I needed a pole chain saw an remembered seeing one at stines so once again I tried an once again failed. I found myself going back to stines for more tools an materials that I needed but for small stuff,but would find that they had really a lot more that I hadn t seen. First time in my life that I was told to get a Rain Check on an advertised item that I had to pay in advance then wait for the item to come in. Seems like you're putting items on sale and if enough people pay for them you'll place an order. read more

The most horrible experience I have ever had with a store. It started out with me having to order some roof vents because they didn't have any in the store, yet had them in the sale paper. They call me up and tell me they are in a few days later. Two days after the call I drive all the way there in my truck up to pick up my vents and they'd sold them to someone else the day before. Now mind you, I made a specific call back ensuring that couldn't happen and was told a pick ticket had been taken out on these items, they couldn't possibly be sold to someone else. They offer to deliver some to me that afternoon from another store. The driver then delivers the wrong vents. I am told it will be two weeks before the ones I really ordered are available. Two weeks later, nothing. I call back, she said they'd be another week. After another week, nothing. It's now been almost a month since the original order. While the store is ok for buying stuff off the floor, don't order anything from these people. It's a waste of time. read more

I used to enjoy shopping at Stines. The employees were nice, and knew the products. Lately though the service has gotten TERRIBLE! For instance, the other day I was there and saw some shades at the front of the store that we liked. One was cut so we asked if they had any in the back. A young lady called "Brian" in the back and asked. She told us that we would have to walk to the back of the store. When we got there, "Brian" just pointed and said "IF we have any, it will be down that aisle. So we walked and there was none. Now, why couldn't Brian get off his big lazy butt and tell us that before we walked to the back of the store. Let me tell you, that is probably why there are less and less customers cars in the parking lot. I will drive all the way to Lowes or Home Depot from now on. Not one more of my hard earned dollars will be spent there. This is just one of the episodes of late in this store. This just happens to be the last straw! read more
