BUYER BEWARE -- Heat went out in the middle of the night, and I could not get my regular HVAC guy…read more Called M&T Mechanical in the morning (8am) and they agreed to come and look at the problem which I believed to be a clogged fuel line. They arrived as indicated and looked at the oil furnace and ended saying that I had a "blown" motor. They'd be back after getting one from Ace Hardware. Got everything working again, which was good. When I got the bill ($700), I was more than surprised at the expense. Later, I checked the Ace Hardware website (and at the store ) which said the motor (Beckett 21805) was listed at $124.99 (Home Depot has it for @$87). I was willing to pay more for the emergency call but to get almost a 300% markup on the motor ($125 marked up to $350) and an oil filter (marked up to $100) is GOUGING. Normal industry rate is 50% markup. So, the long and short of it is: BUYER BEWARE when it comes to M&T Mechanical. You will DEFINITELY pay more than fair market and more likely be scammed by a company that's more interested in a big payoff that will cost consumers. Again, BUYER BEWARE when it comes to M&T Mechanical--it will work but will leave a hole in your pocket and bad taste in your mouth. If desperate for service, call elsewhere.

We recently built a Berks home. Nick came back twice to correct issues that needed to be made. He…read morewas wonderful....personable, apologetic and professional. Several months later we needed two flush mount ceiling fixtures switched that were in the wrong places...not J&N's fault....they had to follow Berks instructions. We also had purchased a ceiling fan that needed to be hung. We told them no rush, just when they were in the neighborhood again. When J&N came (not Nick) they sent 3 people to do the job. All three were very nice. Actually there was 1 tech and 2 that were introduced as being in training, which was true as I observed. They noticed that we did not have a surge protector at our electric box. They wanted to me authorize them to put a surge protector on the electric box for $1300 since they were already in my home that day. I said I did not know enough to authorize them to do that. THE TECH AND 2 TRAINEES WERE HERE LESS THAN 1 HOUR. THE CHARGE WAS $750. THANKFULLY THEY GAVE US A COUPON FOR $50 OFF THEIR SERVICE. WE WERE CHARGED $275 TO ASSEMBLE AND INSTALL THE CEILING FAN AND FAN BOX AND FOR THEM TO CHECK THE SWITCH AND WIRING BEHIND THE SWITCH. THEY HAD JUST WIRING SEVERAL MONTHS PRIOR. THEY CHARGED US $475 TO SWITCH THE LOCATIONS OF TWO FLUSH MOUNT LIGHT FIXTURES. Within 30 minutes after they left Jeremie (co-owner) called trying to sell me a generator for our home. After speaking with other folks in the neighborhood that used other companies, I am sorry, I can't justify using J&N. For a homeowner to pay $750 an hour for 1 tech to be training 2 new employees is outrageous.
