BUYER BEWARE -- Heat went out in the middle of the night, and I could not get my regular HVAC guy. Called M&T Mechanical in the morning (8am) and they agreed to come and look at the problem which I believed to be a clogged fuel line. They arrived as indicated and looked at the oil furnace and ended saying that I had a "blown" motor. They'd be back after getting one from Ace Hardware. Got everything working again, which was good. When I got the bill ($700), I was more than surprised at the expense. Later, I checked the Ace Hardware website (and at the store ) which said the motor (Beckett 21805) was listed at $124.99 (Home Depot has it for @$87). I was willing to pay more for the emergency call but to get almost a 300% markup on the motor ($125 marked up to $350) and an oil filter (marked up to $100) is GOUGING. Normal industry rate is 50% markup. So, the long and short of it is: BUYER BEWARE when it comes to M&T Mechanical. You will DEFINITELY pay more than fair market and more likely be scammed by a company that's more interested in a big payoff that will cost consumers. Again, BUYER BEWARE when it comes to M&T Mechanical--it will work but will leave a hole in your pocket and bad taste in your mouth. If desperate for service, call elsewhere. read more

Went to m&t mechanical for my furnace to be repaired, Mike was extremely knowledgeable the price was right for the service and knowledge. So for those that say their furnace was fixed but the price wasn't right. Call the next guy, because the quality of work is what you should be looking at. I have heat for my tenet's. Our furnace stopped working on the Sunday before Christmas during a cold spell. Even though we have mini-splits, they need a boost when it gets this cold. And we rely on the furnace for hot water. Contacted M&T and my furnace was fixed on Monday. Couldn't have asked for better service or nicer guys. read more

I was having some issues with my boiler/furnace and had some plumbing work to do in an upstairs bathroom. I had previously picked up a business card at Allensville Planing Mill, here in Huntingdon, and contacted Mike Vargo, Owner of M&T Mechanical Services out of Shade Gap, PA. Mike showed up and was adamant that my heating system was going to burn down my house if he didn't redirect the pipes and rebuild my system. I only had him clean my furnace, which ended up costing me $700! I've always burned wood so I didn't know this was an outrageous charge. He convinced me to then hire him to connect the plumbing, in the previously mentioned upstairs bathroom, to the new soaker tub and prep the floor for tile. I was dealing with a cancer diagnosis and had several doctor appointments and surgeries in Hershey, PA so I gave him access to my basement and upstairs bathroom. I returned from major surgery to a house that smelled like sewage had backed up. I searched, franticly, trying to find the source of this repulsive smell. It turns out our Plumber, who knew there was no water connection to the toilet sitting in the basement, chose to use that toilet and a garbage can, for his personal "waste"!! Needless to say, we had him return to clean up his disgusting mess. As far as the upstairs bathroom job, he rerouted the plumbing to the vanity/sink, that was like new, to my dining room ceiling. ????? He didn't connect the tub and put the floor down without a tub drain and pipes to the faucets. I was livid.... and broke because the nonsense with the furnace and the bathroom together cost me $3,350! I acquired several estimates... One from Hess Plumbing & Heating. He confirmed that my boiler/furnace was actually in very good shape it just needed cleaned. When I told him I just paid M&T Mechanical Services $700 to clean my furnace he almost fell over. I paid Hess Plumbing and Heating $125 to clean my very dirty furnace that, at this point, was smoking. I then reached out to Sample Contracting, LLC. Ryan, the Owner, couldn't believe what happened and offered to do the bathroom once I reached out to get legal advice, as I'm sure, he didn't want to get caught up in anything. I reached out to Mike, himself; local attorneys, the Attorney General and The Better Business Bureau, with no good outcome as all these agencies do is reach out to the shady contractor and if that contractor doesn't reply, they close the case. Ryan and his crew fixed all the misrouted plumbing, fixed the floor and actually laid the tile for me. Yes... I had to pay all over again, but the job is done beautifully. If Mike Vargo is willing to scam a lady with cancer, he'll scam anyone. Please share and help me spare someone the same sad experience. read more

I had other ones come in to look at my heater and did nothing because it was freezing up Mike came and with in 5 minutes he new what was wrong he fixed it and I would not let anyone else come only Mike will work on my heater read more

Not the best service, guy seemed lazy . Didn't want to come look at installing lights to give quote unless I had something else to fix

The service I received was A+Mike confirmed appointment the night before, showed up on time ready to work. Took the time to explain everything he did. I just found my electrician for all future projects...Highly recommend to all who need a good, honest electrician.... read more
