We chose to go to Stillwell's because there were no other restaurants available at the time--most had about a two-hour wait. This restaurant was supposed to open at 5:00 PM, and we were first in line, so we were seated right away. The customer service was amazing and extremely well organized, with no delays at all. Even with reservations coming in, everything ran smoothly. The entire restaurant filled up within 15 minutes, which was impressive to see. The restaurant itself is very beautiful with amazing outside seating. We decided to order only appetizers. We had chicken wings, artichoke dip, crab cakes, and calamari. The food itself was nothing out of the ordinary and overall average, but the efficiency and customer service truly stood out. Getting a table so easily on a busy holiday evening was entirely due to how well the restaurant was managed. Kudos to the entire team, including Jaela (I believe that was her name)--a young team member who went above and beyond, helping lift chairs and accommodate the rush alongside the rest of the staff. We went for breakfast yesterday. What a disappointment! We waited 1 1/2 hours until we got our food and it was cold! The eggs Benedict were served with hard boiled eggs and the hollandaise sauce was cold! The sausage and bacon were also cold! And I mean it was like you'd placed them on the counter for an hour then served them to us? We told the server and he didn't seem to care. We had been here once before several years ago and decided for another visit. They're happy hour is quite good, offering nice prices on drinks and some good food items. I had the fish wings which sounded strange but ended up being fantastic. Next to no presentation with them, but the freshly breaded pieces of fish were tender and juicy and just delicious, not at all like fish sticks. The sticky shrimp appetizer was a dramatic contrast as it was oozing with presentation in its fancy glass and abundance of accoutrements. It made me wonder what the fish wings would've looked like with this kind of TLC?... our server was helpful and told us the story of how there's a natural spring here that creates the water feature outside that used to be quite a large lake, some interesting big bear history to check out... we enjoyed our visit and we will be back for another happy hour in the future! read more

Why the hell would you close at 2 on a busy summer weekend? The hours on door says 3pm and the server could have a made at least 20 extra $$ to serve us! Considering your advertised hours on your door said 3pm and would not serve us. I swear customer service in CA is under 35 is horrible there is a reason why servers are not supposed to make 17+ an hour now they don't work as hard. Both the bar and restaurant were amazing! The service is impeccable, super accommodating and very friendly staff. Lauren is absolutely amazing! We had breakfast there two days in a row, very good food. The bar has a cozy atmosphere with a nice view. The restaurant has something for everyone and prices are comparable to restaurants in town. Plates were hearty, and food fresh. Suggest researching the "free" breakfast options when booking your room because it isn't actually "free", the value may not be worth the price you pay. I suggest dining on your own accord without the voucher part. If you like Mimosa's or a Bloody Mary ask for the unlimited special! Definitely recommend visiting Stillwells. read more

On the positive, Stillwells is located adjacent to the Holiday Inn Lodge Resort, offering guests convenient access to Big Bear Village. The restaurant has a rustic charm, characteristic of the mountain setting. Unfortunately, this restaurant leaves much to be desired. I visited for breakfast, with my family, to find 1 server assisting all tables. We were not provided with water. The wait was exceedingly long for all facets of the meal--greeting, ordering, preparation, delivery, check-in, and payment processing. This is in a resort town, but this is no excuse for the grossly subpar service, quality, and quantity. My wife ordered an omelette, which was to come with toast. After all food was eaten, warm bread arrived, unbuttered. This was only after I asked. Additionally, I ordered a side of fruit. The fruit plate came with 13 pieces of fruit and totaled $7.99. Portion sizes were small for all meals ordered and the prices steep. I'd recommend those visiting to seek other options. read more

(3.8) We've visited Stillwell's several times over the past two years while staying at the Holiday Inn (The Lodge), and overall the experience has been welcoming. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and the staff has always been friendly. On our most recent visit, the customer service truly stood out. Even though they were clearly short-staffed, the bartender--a gentleman with a ponytail and a quick-witted tongue--went above and beyond. Not only did he make an excellent drink, but he also supported the waitstaff without missing a beat. He definitely deserves a shout-out. For food, I ordered Renee's Pasta with added shrimp. The seasoning was great, but there was a bit too much oil for my taste. The Texas toast on the side, however, was excellent. My husband and son ordered the chicken wings, and unfortunately this is where the experience fell short. Both sets of wings came out undercooked. They were sent back, but due to the short staffing there was some mix-up and the food never came back out. After a half-hour wait, they apologized and remade them, but even after receiving them (nearly 40 minutes later) and bringing them back to the room, the wings were still undercooked. My advice: maybe skip the wings until the kitchen figures out the issue. On a positive note, breakfast at Stillwell's has always been consistently good. We definitely recommend the omelettes--especially with their delicious homemade salsa. The pancakes are large and fluffy, though a bit on the bland side. The biscuits and gravy are decent but not outstanding. Overall, Stillwell's is a warm, clean, and inviting place with great staff. There are definite highlights, especially at breakfast, and some areas that could use improvement during dinner service. Stopped in only bar I've been to where the bartender didn't know how to make the drinks. I asked how much cocktails were and was just told it varies no prices were given = red flag ! Lol anyway Ashley with some help made us some drinks. Just a couple things though when I put my card down for the tab after my drinks I had forgotten but as a bartender she should have known my card was being held. Anyway I paid with another card and pu my card on hold the next day. I also wasn't shown a breakdown of charges $114 for 5 drinks , 4 peanut butter whiskey shots and an order of Calimari.I asked for a recept for a breakdown of charges but was told no receipt was available. Came here twice- both times were awesome. We had lunch- tuna melt and a tuna salad sandwich both were delicious though tuna salad was our favorite. Then for breakfast we had banana and strawberry French toast and salmon eggs Benedict- both of those were equally delicious. It would just depend on if you wanted savory or sweet. Our server acted like we were an inconvenience & the food was..... rundown diner bad. Think a mix between dennys & idk maybe some diner connected to a gas station. We were told because it was a "busy night" we had to order our drinks at the bar. A double margarita & a double whiskey coke was $70. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because they had some high school kids playing violin & they were incredible. Murphy The manager doesn not allow his staff to do anything because he wants to be able to double tip. We Asked him to split the bill and he stated that he couldn't because he has already entered the order as a big group. So he charges everyone 20 % tip. When I was there another guest went off on him because of the way he was treating his staff. It looked like she was about to beat him down. I do not recommend this place. Which kind of sucked because everyone else was polite but had to be walking on eggshells because of that prick Murphy. read more

The eggs didn't taste quite right -- something was just off -- and the bacon was barely cooked. To top it off, the English muffin was so burnt it looked (and crunched) like a crouton. Not exactly what you expect with breakfast. Service was also disappointing. No one checked in on us, and our waters were never refilled once during the entire meal. It felt like we were completely overlooked. We really wanted to enjoy our time here, but between the food and the service, it just wasn't a good experience.
