This is my absolute favorite furniture store in the city. It houses the Stickley Mission series. The adjacent Manderley Manor Dining Room Gallery (at 567 Mount Pleasant) has mostly contemporary pieces which are not nearly as nice as the Mission series.
If you're not familiar with Stickley, it is furniture in the style of the Arts and Craft movement. The movement started in Europe and North America at the end of the 19th century and was inspired by Art Deco and Art Nouveau.
So, if you're looking at Stickley furniture, you are reminded of Frank Llyod Wright and his Art Deco furniture. Personally, I find it absolutely stunning. Most of the pieces are made from solid wood and are of outstanding quality. One of the iconic piece is the Morris chair. When you see it, you'll have to have one. The furniture can be ordered with leather, or with a gorgeous selection of fabrics (for an extra charge.)
Other pieces include sofas, tables, beautiful Tiffany-style lamps (but with Art Deco designs), as well as Arts and Crafts carpets.
One of the drawbacks of this place is the price. The furniture is not cheap. At the same time, I believe you get your money's worth. Manderley Manor have many special sales, including the yearly Truck sale. While you may be able to see some items at reduced cost, many of the items are not really discounted, so pay attention see if you're really getting a deal. read more
