While I was planning on selecting a surgeon here in Austin, I did not limit my search to just this city. I looked in all areas of Texas and even beyond. However, once I identified Dr Kemper, I was confident that I had found the best surgeon for my needs regardless of location. To be brief, Dr. Kemper is a fantastic surgeon. He listens well, explains himself and addresses any concerns with honesty and professionalism. Plus, he's done this procedure many, many times and knows exactly what needs to be done. To say "I trust him" is an understatement. I knew that my condition would be taken care of withit Dr Kemper. My surgery was 6 months ago. Not only did Dr Kemper live up to my expectations but I am happy to say that I am better today that I have been in many, many years. My condition is 100% corrected and there are no residual effects from the procedure; even my 8" scar is invisible and no nerve issues with my skin. I cannot thank him enough or recommend him any higher - he's the best. I would also like to thank his staff for their excellent care. Ironically, my condition required the partnership with an Austin Brain Surgeon who is also "Dr. Kemper". While they are not related, they both worked flawlessly as a team, and I am forever grateful. My father was in the hospital and they referred me to Dr Nason. This doctor's name was written on his discharge paperwork. I filed out the appointment form online with all the information, including his diagnosis/hospital info/and that the hospital wrote a referral. Someone called me a few days later and set him up an appointment for 3 1/2 weeks later. 24 hours before the appointment, they called to say this doctor won't see him for his diagnosis. My father has been suffering for over 3 weeks waiting to see this specialist. They refused to take any accountability for the situation or admit they put his health in danger. The office manager told me this is not their fault and blamed the ER. Then she blamed the call center schedulers. Completely unprofessional to shift the blame to your employees and then tell you it's not her problem.

I was able to fill out all my patient forms online ahead of time, so they were completely ready for me when my appointment began. Dr. Young was very understanding of my issue and explained the different options I have for addressing it. This resulted in an in-person visit. I was greeted quickly and very friendly.  The waiting room is very calming; you only hear the light music from the front desk and the hum of the air purifier. The nurse who took me back to the room and took my vitals was very friendly and made me feel welcome. My visit with Dr. Young was awesome.  She explained everything she did, step by step, and was patient with all of my questions. Building is in a quiet area and has ample parking. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building and outside the office door.  Masks are required throughout the building and offices, including this office.

They were very thorough about telling me about what to expect during and after the procedure. They also called to check in with me the next day. This is the third ENT I have gone to in two years. The others just adjusted my ear crystals and sent me on my way. They actually did a lot more testing and found that I had other issues contributing to my vertigo. And the major issue was I couldn't get hot without having a box of Kleenex with me. SO, as of today I can breathe through my nose & can go outside without any tissues. I was never even seen by Dr. Butler other than him poking his head in the room, staring at me, and hurriedly asking the PA if everything was okay. She asked him if he was going to see me and he didn't even answer. He just shut the door. The PA was really sweet and helped me I guess? (we'll see... I got a steroid shot) When I was leaving I told the billing lady I wanted to make sure I wasn't billed for Dr. Butler's rate because he never even saw me. She asked who saw me and I told her that the PA did. She said they bill the same rate for Dr. Butler and the PA. I also mentioned that I didn't appreciate it that no one ever told me that Dr. Butler wasn't going to have time to see me when that's who my appointment was with. She said "Oh, no one told you he was in surgery today?" (...no, as a matter of fact they didn't... we wouldn't be having this conversation! ) I replied no, that I never got a call nor was I notified when I got there or at any point during my appointment. In fact, the person who did my hearing test kept telling me that Dr. Butler would explain things to me (in response to the questions I asked) and the PA made a comment that he was "all over the place today" and didn't seem to know if he was going to talk to me at all. I appreciate that Dr. Fyfe tries to avoid surgery, if possible. But, if you do end up needing…read moresurgery, I recommend getting a second opinion before you move forward with surgery. Dr. Fyfe performed my surgery in March (balloon sinuplasty and "roto rooter" holes). The surgery required general anesthesia, and recovery from the "roto rooter" was long and painful. After recovery, I felt great for about 6 weeks. Then, in May I got a sinus infection and took antibiotics. In June I got another sinus infection, another follow up, and more antibiotics. In July...another sinus infection. After that, I sought another opinion, and found that there are more modern and effective procedures that do not require cutting holes (the "roto rooter") and do not require general anesthesia. I had another procedure done last week to fix my sinuses (the holes Dr. Fyfe made weren't draining properly) and it has been a much easier recovery so far. Only twilight sedation was needed, and it was done in-office instead of in a surgery center. I feel more confident now that my infected days are over, but I wish I would have gotten a second opinion before surgery with Dr. Fyfe so that I could have avoided the permanent and unnecessary holes in my sinuses.

The errors made severely affected my quality of life when I could've been scheduled by a different specialist weeks/months sooner. I am not sure if he is familiar with the mistakes happening within his office.. beware that they will charge you additional $$$ without informing you before hand and then charge you almost $1,000 AFTER the appointment takes place. If you aren't able to afford it, they send it to collections and refuse to see you until it's paid. I will be seeking a different specialist.
