After moving from California to nj area, I was looking for a good wine shop near my work. Local colleague recommended this shop. It's wonderful, great wine collection from most region. Nice collection of world beers. It is on a little pricy side, but worth the choice they provide compared to corner wine shops. Definitely worth visiting during the holiday season. read more

I've just moved to the area from NYC with my husband and we stopped by last night to check things out. We were really disappointed with the liquor shops closer to home and were really excited the instant we set foot inside. Wine as far as the eye can see, a stellar selection of brews, and a comprehensive assortment of spirits. The prices are pretty good, I don't know about cheapest around since I haven't been around that long. But I'm pretty sure this will now be our go to spot. read more

Great place to find a great wine. The beer selection is pretty good but could be a bit larger and have less bud and bud light. The tastings they do are very nice and have healthy pours. It actually convinced us to switch a couple wines were already had in our cart for the ones we sampled. Decent prices too. read more

Came in last night. Wandered around for a good 15 minutes without a single acknowledgement from any of the Stews . No one asked if I needed help. No one even said 'Hello'. There were maybe 5 other customers in the place in addition to myself. All were treated in a similar manner I walked out with a 6-pack of beer. What I actually needed were a couple of cases of beer, and red and white wine for an open house of about 50 people. I had a great experience here! Walked in and talked to Mikey... He knows his wines and he helped me pick out a nice Riesling for my girlfriend. I told him I wanted a second bottle and he suggest I try "Loimer Kamptal Gruner Veltliner 2012," noting that it was similar to the Riesling, but worth a shot if I wanted to try something new. I loved that because I'm a true believer that variety is the spice of life. Needless to say, she loved it - so thanks again Mikey if your reading this! I went in for a bottle of wine and walked out with 4 six packs of new beer (I'm a huge IPA junkie and after talking about wine I had to see what the guy knew about beer - a lot), 2 handles and 2 bottles of wine.. Not sure what is happening at Stew's. Seems they are getting away from the beer market. I know ther are at least 5 liquor stores within a half mile of Stew's and it may be time to visit Shoppers or Liquor Locker. Inventory down. No new seasonal beers. Going down hill. It's a shame. As the other reviewers have mentioned this place is massive. Hugh selection and rock bottom prices. As much as I want to support my local mom and pop establishments the price difference makes it tough. Some brands we buy are 25% or more cheaper here. Once in a while they have tastings (Ala Costco) here, I saw one patron trying so many 'samples' that I hope she brought a designated driver with her. read more

I really enjoy coming to this store! It is easily accessible and there is always parking available in their lot. They have a LARGE selection of wines and they are all clearly labeled by type of wine and region. I am a big fan of white wines, so I am always looking at those. I always find exactly what I am looking for, sometimes with the help of a friendly and knowledgeable staff member. The last time I was in here, I went over to the Riesling section and picked up two bottles of Riesling. One was called "SeaGlass" and was in a pretty blue glass bottle with a picture of sea glass on the label. I bought this particular wine because I am always up for trying a new kind and I had never seen this kind before. I also bought a bottle of "Pacific Rim" Riesling, which is on the sweeter side and is one of my all time favorites. Stew Leonard's Wine and Spirits is definitely my go to place for wine, also because the prices are very reasonable. I usually stop in here if I'm going somewhere and want to pick up a nice bottle of wine, or if I am headed to dinner and the restaurant is BYOB. read more

When it comes to shopping for wine or some good beers I always go to Stew Leonards Wines in Clifton. This place has a great variety of domestic and imported wines and beers. Excellent selection of liquor too. Great atmosphere and excellent sales reps who are knowledgeable and always seems to offer great advice. Mike spent a good amount of time help me select a bunch of beers for a recent party. He knows his stuff and listened to what I was looking for and selected about 5 great varieties. Clifton offers a lot of other good stores to shop at but nothing come close to the atmosphere, selection and help you get at Stew Leonards Clifton. read more

Not only do they have a great selection of wines and freebie tastings/events they offer a great selection of craft beer too! Wine/beer snobs alike are all welcome. I wouldn't say it has every kind of craft beer or anything, but a decent bunch to pick form if you need a pack. I was able to find Rogue Bacon Maple Ale which I thought was impressive in comparison to other local stores. read more

I've only been here once, back in September, and WOW, this store never existed when I lived in Clifton, it's newly built. I will be back sometime in the Spring of 2014 to purchase a wedding gift for my cousin's wedding...Wish we had a Stew Leonards where I live, all the best stuff is kept in the wine vault, Lynch Bages, Opus One, Coutet, Opus One, ect., I really miss this store, can't wait for Spring to be sprung! Decently priced wine & a surprisingly large variety of beers for a "Wine Store". Definitely check them out, but be weary of the closing times if you are trying to get liquor late as they will almost certainly be closed. Only open until 9pm on weekdays. read more
