I have no idea why they don't have more reviews! I have been…read moredoing business with them for a while now and continue to recommend them to family and friends. Yesterday both my car and my wife's had issues, hers needed towed to the shop. Mine wouldn't act up for them the way it did for me that prompted me to take it into the shop. That's not uncommon and rather than start throwing parts at it and "guessing" they asked me to keep driving it and hopefully it will eventually progress to where its more consistent and they can fix it right the first time. So knowing mine was functional and safe, just with an intermittent issue, they said I could pick mine up so we wouldn't need to rent a car. Diagnostics on mine came to $120, which I paid without objection. A couple of hours later the owner calls me and tells me that it was someone new up front and he's still learning and I shouldn't have been charged since they couldn't find my issue. They will apply what I paid to my wife's bill. I have never had a shop NOT charge for diagnostics in my 35 years of car ownership. Even if they couldn't find what was wrong. They have done everything for me from brakes to complete engine replacement, and as long as I am in the Central Illinois area I will continue to bring my vehicles to them and recommend them.

Beware of this shop!!!! They are the worst!!! Charged me $1500.00 for nothing. They misdiagnosed…read morethe problem and charged me anyway!!! Threatened to charge me $150.00 per day storage fee if I did'nt get my car out of there. The owner is a scum bag who threatened me personally as I was walking out the door.. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honest mechanic…read more My car broke down in Peoria while away from home on work. Rob was the mechanic I spoke to. I towed my car to his shop and he tried to find out what the issue was. Initially, the problem was misdiagnosed... something else was also wrong with the car, he assumed that was the primary problem, unfortunately it was a red herring; that's ok, I understand how it goes. In the end Rob found out the what the true issue was. It happened to be a very expensive fix. Rob didn't pressure me; to my surprise he was totally cool when I told him I'd rather tow the car 200mi back to my own mechanic in Chicago to complete the job. He told me not to pay him for the initial fix since the initial diagnosis had been incorrect. I felt it was only right to pay Rob for the part he had installed, but honestly he would have let me out of there not giving him a dime. That's not something you see every day with a mechanic. Me; an out of town business traveler with a broken vehicle; he or any other mechanic could've taken me to the cleaners and I probably would have gone along for the ride since I was stranded 200mi from home. Rob treated me well and he struck me as the kind of guy who probably treats all of his customers just as well. If you need service in Peoria, check out Rob at Stecher's. He's an honest mechanic and a stand up guy. I don't know about you, but those are the qualities I want in a mechanic. Lord knows I don't know enough about cars, I'm just thankful there's a trustworthy guy out there to take my car to.

I had to take my car in for a last minute check up and was extremely overcharged for a cylinder 3…read moreignition coil. These guys are not honest and I would recommend going elsewhere instead of getting ripped off. It sucks that I didn't search the cost for this part before blindly agreeing to the outrageous cost. As a college student struggling for money, this just feels extremely wrong
