We rented this whole place out and had some party in town after watching the hot tuna show. They were so very helpful, nice to us and even helped jump my car . $1 drinks

We made reservations with Lionne for 2025 Thanksgiving at 3pm for a party of three. Their…read moreThanksgiving this year was an entree selection with an unlimited selection of sides and a dessert buffet. We arrived 5 minutes early and were led to a round booth instead of a regular table. I am in a sling from recent shoulder surgery, so I need to sit at a regular dining table with chairs. This was a problem since they only wanted to seat us in a booth. The host had us wait for a bit to find a solution while we looked around. We noticed many regular, empty tables. The host came back with a chair for me to place next to the booth. As we were about to sit down, a server or other host stopped by and stated this won't work (perhaps blocks access for servers?). So we had to wait for them to come up with a different solution. The hostess led us to a counter-height table with bar stools outside the restaurant. We thought that was unusual and this should have been a red flag. We weren't exactly comfortable, as we kept sliding off the bar stools. Worse, we were far from the dessert buffer and in a common area where other people walked past. We were confused as to why we couldn't get a regular table. We had to wait a bit for staff to get place settings and menus. Then our waiter arrived, except he identified himself as the bartender and stated up front that he might get busy tending the bar. That was the second red flag. He then explained that they were sold out of one of their five entrees thanks to the morning demand for it. They're running out of ingredients already in the afternoon? Third red flag. The waiter (bartender) took our order. Soon we had our drinks, but there was something wrong with my iced tea. It just tasted like fountain water instead of tea, even though it did have a little color to it. How do you mess up something as simple as iced tea? Forth red flag. We waited a while without any food. Our bartender/server did stop by and apologize for the delay, stating the kitchen was preparing "19 soups" or something along that line, and that we'd get our entrees in 5-10 minutes. Half an hour later, still nothing. At about the 45 minute mark we were using our phones to look for other restaurants that might be open on Thanksgiving day. An hour after we were seated, a different waiter finally brought us soup. We asked the waiter why it's taking so long for our entrees. He apologized and stated that he'd make sure he puts our order at the front of the queue. Unfortunately the French Onion soup was cold, or lukewarm at best, with a soggy crostini on top. Perhaps this soup had been sitting forever after it was prepared and our bartender/waiter didn't serve it to us in time, and another waiter had to bring it to us after it was already cold? Fifth red flag. Then after about ten minutes, the waiter brought us a basket of cold bread. Did they forget to serve this earlier? Worse, they provided no plates for us yet in which to eat the bread. Sixth red flag. At that point we had enough: we left and notified the hostess of the issue. It was one and a quarter hours with no entrees, seated in an awkward and uncomfortable location that should never have been offered, with a waiter that's unavailable because he's tending bar, and being served cold food much too late. We didn't even get a chance to look at the dessert buffet since we had no entrees and were seated so far away. We also didn't prepare any food at home because we had reservations and expected a proper dining table instead of this nightmare. The staff, although very friendly and courteous, seemed confused and unable to make proper decisions. The hostess was a bit shocked we waited so long without any entrees. This had to be the worst dining experience we've had in a long time. For this Thanksgiving, we had to go "Christmas Story" style and eat at Penang Asian Fusion Cuisine, one of the few places open. Needless to say, I'd recommend avoiding the Nittany Lione Inn and Lionne: we took a chance and now regret it. For $70-60 per person you'd expect to be treated far better.

The room also had very nice views of the street and neighborhood. Arrival was uneventful. The desk clerks were courteous and efficient. I would note that this hotel's floor concept is at the European model, meaning the first floor is not where the lobby happens to be, but it is the entrance to the garage. Hotel's decor was fairly old-school, pun intended. The wallpaper is like an old library, with college shields on each door. Quite evoking of the nature of State College. Rooms were nicely decorated, but my only reason for not 5 stars is the room was a bit musty, apparently they kept the air conditioning off during summer days. Not a problem, we dialed down the temperature appropriately.... The showers have all the necessary accouterments and have been recently remodeled. Went for coffee downstairs and ordered a specialty coffee; Mark was attending downstairs and we ended up on a nice conversation about 70s and 80s music. Everyone in the hotel staff is quite friendly. Overall quite enjoyable experience.

Having stayed at many Hiltons, this was incredibly disappointing. Outside of front desk team…read moremembers being friendly, the overall experience has been well below general expectations for a Hilton - and even basic expectations of any hotel! Some serious concerns about this hotel: 1- First night the air conditioning would not work. It was uncomfortably hot in the room. Called the front desk and the person said no one was around to help - so "just open a window." We did, and had an evening with an open window with no screen. Luckily no daredevil squirrels climbed in and no birds - or bats - chose to invade our space! 2- After three days - there had been no room service. No fresh towels - no emptying of trash - and no replacement of toilet paper. This was after I was leaving the room one day and "room service" was at the door and, in a somewhat rude manner, asked: "Do you want room service?" I said - "oh yes - thank you - I was just leaving." She appeared to go into the room - but I have no idea what she did as, again, no towels were changed out, trash was still in the trash cans, and beds were not made. 3- We ran out of toilet paper, so we asked for some - and then went out. I have included a picture of what we found upon our return - toilet paper left outside of the room - not even brought into the room and put on the roller. 4- An unexplained charge appeared on my card from the hotel - at 11:11 PM when the whole family was in bed. I inquired on this, and as of this time, no one at the hotel can figure out what was charged - still waiting on that to hopefully be explained and, if in error, resolved. 5- The treadmill in the gym has been broken and out of order - as such, I had to go to Planet Fitness. Yet, we have been charged a $10/day "resort fee." This is NOT a resort - and am entirely unclear what this $10 a day charge is going toward. 6- While hot water worked in the morning - by 9:00 PM we did not have any hot water. I called and the person at the front desk said "oh, just keep the water running - it has to come from the other side of the building so it takes awhile to heat up." Uhm, we left it running for about 10 minutes - just cold water. I am unsure how this hotel was allowed to have the Hilton name. Needless to say, we will not be staying here again.

The breakfast was OK and it was included, which was very nice the room that I was in had some issues with a draft coming in from the window. Also, the bathroom wasn't as clean as it should be with two tiny towels and the sink did not drain correctly so I had to change rooms. The new room had noise coming from the outside, which was due to all the rooftop conditioners and heating equipment all night. I heard a knocking I could not sleep at all. The carpet has some stains on it and it does have a musky old smell to it. The wallpaper is coming off in spots. If you can get a deal a cheap deal then it's a OK place to stay. I did not need parking but it is located nearby in a deck. The location is very close to campus, plus campus shuttles and public transit stops are nearby. My room was modern, neat, and clean (other reviews indicated problems I did not have). Water pressure for a shower was good (not great) and the water was hot, neat trick in many high rise hotels. There is no fan in the bathroom, so be forewarned. The website does offer some slightly confusing information on dining options, even the staff said that. Federal Taphouse restaurant is the de facto hotel restaurant (a separate business) and I would highly recommend on food quality and adult beverages selections. The hotel does have a very good free breakfast offering in a nice seating area away from the check in areas. A third restaurant basically functions as a bar opening around 4 pm. If none of this works, downtown has many offerings and cuisines. The only major issues I had was (1) no housekeeping during a five day stay. I even requested it mid-week, never happened, mystified why, and (2) I was changed for parking when I did not need it, and it took serious discussion to remove the charge. I expected more from Hyatt in providing the basic services of housekeeping and getting the bill straight. Aside from these two items, overall everything else was really good and if you are staying in the area consider this hotel.
