Great doctor and compassionate allergist. Extremely knowledgeable, and the staff at his clinic is also pretty good.

The shot process is as easy and seamless as it could be. I want to come back. ---- Dr. Choy's allergy shot therapy seem to have completely cured my severe pollen allergies. What's more, she clearly cares about me and goes above and beyond to get me the medicine and holistic treatment I need at the best cost. I've never seen a doctor act like this. Getting shots was easy and the staff are so friendly. My only regret was not doing this sooner.

What I didn't fully appreciate when I began treatment at Dr. Choy's office was the extent to which the field of allergy and immunology has advanced. Innovations like Rush and Cluster Immunotherapy can shorten treatment times and offer safe, efficient relief to patients. While Dr. Choy's practice is caring and the staff are friendly, they are hesitant in integrating these and other modern techniques into their practice. Given the substantial commitment required for allergy shots, this reluctance to follow current best medical practices diminishes the overall quality of care. They do finally get the job done, but those looking for quicker or more advanced allergy treatments may wish to consider other providers.

Dr. Cummings is the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology specialist at Menlo Medical Clinic and,…read moreaccording to her bio on the MMC site, she has been with them for 23 years. My three little boys have a variety of allergies and are all subject to asthma/wheezing, so we've gotten to know Dr. Cummings over several years now... and I'm thankful that she is here to help us sort through the associated complex and stressful issues. She's got the experience and research knowledge to know what she's doing -- and during my interactions she's demonstrated both a friendly bedside manner and a balance between confidence and caution that I find reassuring. Of course with allergies as with lots of other ailments, doctors are still learning -- so even the experts can often not tell you the "right answer" for how to manage a particular allergy. And it's no fun bringing your little guys in to be poked and prodded each year for an allergy test, especially when (as on our last visit) my three year old's uncomfortable skin test got botched and had to be repeated. But as with most things, no pain, no gain. And since we are trying to do our very best to keep our little guys safe and comfortable over the long haul, we're going to keep coming to Dr. Cummings for the best advice we can get.

I've been told I'm allergic/sensitive to chemicals, and there's no known way to treat that. Dr Cummings was highly recommended to me, and I went to her as a last ditch effort. She took a look at all my previous testing, listened to me talking about my symptoms, and pinpointed my main (though not only) problem immediately - untreated silent reflux - and gave me a recommendation for her colleague, Dr Chan. She was right on the money. Dr Chan tested me, put me on meds, and I've never been better. Unlike other allergists I've gone to, Dr Cummings knows what can mimic allergy problems, and who to send you to. And I'm really grateful for that expertise, and her wonderful bedside manner.

About a year ago I was in my kitchen having the time of my life playing with my daughter. She's my…read morefirst child and everyone goes through that learning curve with first kids. I pull out a piece of cheese casually and we're laughing and playing and she's eating a little piece, then my heart sinks.. her face starts looking different, and hives just cover all over her chin. I've never had a food allergy in my family, and I have no idea what to even do. We're terrified and talk to our pediatrician but unsurprisingly, the best answer is just to keep introducing new things and test. Unfortunately the next reaction that happened was to peanuts and I think the fear you feel when you see your child unable to speak, go through a reaction to a food YOU gave them is indescribable. You store those reactions internally and food stops being this fun adventure and turns into anxiety and bracing for more reactions. A couple months later we were on the phone with the lovely receptionist Miss Savannah, explaining the guilt of not feeling confident enough to even continue trying top allergens mixed with the anxiety of what life will look like now for our girl. Even though we were scared to go she made us feel like walking through those Latitude doors was at the very least, better than where we were that day. Fast forward a few clinic visits and we had finally gained the confidence and true support to test all top allergens at home, AND identify which ones she truly was allergic to. Going to clinic became less of a burden and more of a meet up for kids with allergies to safely socialize while you talk to other parents who you can give the same nod to that you needed, the "hey I know it's tough but we're going to get through it look." From her first appointment where she was terrified of getting her vitals taken to her last where she borrowed Dr. Henderson's stethlescope to listen to Dr's heart beat, we saw the fear of going to clinic transform into joy. Thanks to the lovely receptionists and the wonderful doctors and especially caring nurses (especially Auntie Sarah), we started to finally feel that peace come back that the first reaction took from us. Proud to say my girl has outgrown her milk allergy and completed OIT successfully with peanuts and it's all thanks to the special place in a little office called latitude.

A bit of a cattle show. Here's what you don't learn until you're already in the program:…read more1. Scheduling is a pain. They cap you at 3 scheduled visits at a time, but even slots 6 weeks out have almost no availability (sometimes just one per day). If you have a school-aged kid, that means pulling them out at 10am for a 2-hour visit, because afternoon slots rarely exist and a 2-week gap quietly becomes a 3-week gap to the next updose. This docked 2 stars 2. Expect to wait. They overbook constantly, which means sitting in a busy, hectic waiting room for up to an hour. For $600 a visit, you'd think they could assign you a room for the duration. What's especially ironic: they're placing allergic kids in a waiting room where other kids are dropping crumbs everywhere. They really should know better. This docked 2 stars. 3. Staff assumes you know more than you do. They run so many patients through that the onboarding feels almost rote. You have to ask to be walked through basics, like how to use the scale or what the actual treatment plan looks like. We had multiple allergies and didn't learn the full plan until our third visit. No one told us upfront what we were and weren't being treated for. 4. The 24-hour helpline is an answering service. They explicitly tell you not to expect a callback within 30 minutes. Fine with us. Just a heads up for future patients. I don't think you can expect them to pick up your call immediately (go to the ER!) One doctor, a team of nurses, clearly optimizing for volume. Worth checking out Columbia or another clinic with more streamlined processes. They were generous with the snacks, though, so I am grateful.

Year after year, I suffered so much from allergies and never expected to find the relief I'm now experiencing. Dr Xu is my favorite doctor (I have several) and has helped me get my symptoms under control. Her care has been positively life changing. I have complete confidence in her expertise. She is a highly skilled and sought after expert in the Bay Area. Her practice has a few locations in the South Bay which makes scheduling very convenient. Her staff is well trained, friendly and helpful. Dr Xu is thorough, takes time with each of her patients, she's kind, compassionate and very professional. She has excellent communication skills and explains things in an understandable manner. I never feel rushed and always feel like she truly cares about me and my overall health. I highly recommend Dr Xu and the team at South Bay Allergy and Asthma Group. Five Stars all around!

I just received an email saying that she's been added to my care team even though she's not in network. Secondly, to charge my insurance $3,000 for allergy testing is completely insane, I understand prices have gone up but to blatantly price gouge , shame on you. These people only care about one thing and that's money! Dr Xu was not personable, was snappy when I called about lab work she ordered for tests that don't even exist (how are you an allergist and you don't know that these tests you've ordered don't even exist, like there is no lab that provides these tests at all). And on top of that provided my primary care doctor a rude note of my visit with her. I did not consent to this either it just happened.

My main issue is that this office has always felt like a money-grab. The office often recommended additional tests and appointments that did not seem necessary. Although I understand the value of Ni-Ox and lung function assessments, the repeated testing rarely resulted in meaningful adjustments to my treatment plan. Appointments frequently ended with vague feedback rather than clear next steps for improvement. During one visit, I had a reaction to the shots, which was a stressful situation. The staff appeared uncertain about how to respond, and Dr. Zhang invited a medical assistant to observe my hives without asking for my consent. This was uncomfortable and dehumanizing. Additionally, I received the bill for this appointment and they charged me for a lung function test I did not take. I contacted the billing department who said they would call me back. I never received a call back despite following up. I check today to see they have revised their billing statement to deduct that charge. Very shady business that prioritizes money over patient care. I am now seeing a new allergist who looked at my tests and said that allergists should not be administering shots to people with numbers as bad as mine were.
