The visit to "establish" care is Dr. Muhammad Farooqi sitting in a chair across from you, asking you the same questions you just filled out on the 10 forms they give you, after he makes you wait 45 mins after your appointment to see him. Dr. Muhammad Farooqi does not care about his patients; I told him I needed 2 referrals and he told me he would only give me 1 per visit. Mind you, each visit is an additional $115 EVEN WITH INSURANCE. Never in my life have I had a physician put me in a position between choosing a referral for my mental health or a referral for my physical health. HE LIMITS YOUR HEALTHCARE ACCESSIBILITY FOR HIS OWN PROFITS. He was also very rude and hostile when answering my questions. He stated that since I am in my 20's, I am not his target demographic and he does not care about me or people of my age group since we only account for 10% of his patients, therefore 10% of his profits. In addition to his complete disregard for patient care, the clinic is also UNSANITARY. There were BUGS in the room I was placed in. When I brought it up to the nurse, she just laughed. I had to kill the bug myself and the dead bug stayed on the floor while all of the nurses walked over and around it. He SUPER down to earth and does a thorough physical exam. I have been suffering from thyroid symptoms for about 4 years. Been to several doctors and none of them could help me. My symptoms got to a point where I thought I was dying. Was having heart palpitations, EXTREME hair loss, excessive fatigue, random sore spots and bruises on my body, vision issues, rapid weight gain, anxiety off the charts (couldn't get more than 4 hours of sleep to save my life)- you name it. None of the prior doctors could tell me what was happening. And after a while, I believe that they started to disregard my complaints- EVEN after I did my research and TOLD them what I thought was going on. At times the service and personal physician relationship was exemplary. However, was the actual medical treatment better than a standard medical provider? No. With that being said, I also state that I canceled my subscription to NTPHP's concierge medicine (CM) practice in March (2024). If you are considering subscribing to a preferred provider practice, there are things you need to know when discussing your options with the doctor. I have made a career working with physician practices and seven years as a patient of NTPHP. I will give a detailed overview and opinion of why concierge medicine may not be for you. I grew up in an era where "your word was your bond" and your handshake was your seal. Be sure when discussing the advantages of a concierge medicine that the verbal commitments (sales pitch) align with the legal contract. Don't be misled into believing that this form of medical practice was designed for your benefit. It was not. If your time is more valuable than your money, if money is no object, then CM has its place. If you are on a limited or fixed income, you could be making a grave financial mistake.
