15 years ago....I got my wife a wedding ring and she purchased a wedding band for me. Perfect even today.

I am a former customer of Steven Kretchmer who was left with an incomplete outstanding order at the time the business was closed in January 2025. I was only notified Jan 31, 2025, by email that they would be temporarily relocating with no explanation given for the reason and a message I would receive my ring when they were up and running again. I only found out the business was actually sold after researching it on my own on the internet. I have sent emails and letters asking for the current status, for any kind of update, but get nothing in response. It is now almost the end of May I have been waiting. I think this is a totally unacceptable way to handle this situation with a customer who has paid for an expensive ring in full and has trusted them with a personal diamond which came from my mother's wedding ring. I have been left hanging and now I don't even know if I will ever see it again, if my entire investment is gone, or what to think or do. Nevertheless my intention is not to be confrontational, I am just very upset and frustrated by the way things have turned out and am seeking honest communication regarding the situation. If I receive a response satisfactorily rectifying this issue or business resumes its operation and I receive my order, I will most certainly write an updated favorable statement reflecting the outcome. read more

Sheep in Wolves clothing, unfortunately. My wife's ring lasted 17 years in the previous metal it was made in, and fell apart within 1 year after being re-made by their metal. We were told so many things, and when things went wrong with the ring and sizing, none of it was upheld. After my wife's ring needing tightened every 6 months, because of the tension setting and "soft white gold", we decided to invest into having it remade with someone who was an expert in tension settings. We brought up our concerns of keeping the diamond secure, as well as the sizing since my wife has larger knuckles and skinnier fingers. We were reassured they are great at giving a true sizing, and wouldn't need the balls to secure the ring on her finger, so we trusted and went forward, excited to have a ring that was strong. We received the ring back and it looked beautiful but as concerned about it didn't fit, my wife did need the 2 locking balls on, and the 2 diamonds on the side were loose. (after all the aweful interaction to get this ring back, we now think they chipped the diamonds when removing or putting them back in). Because sizing can be so tricky, understandably, we drove 6 hours to fit the ring on my wife's finger and come up with a plan. Claudia spoke with my wife, and said the loose diamonds would be fixed, and then said she would take the ring down a 4 3/4 and add speed bumps. My wife wasn't sure about the speed bumps, because the locking balls worked so well. Claudia once again convinced her she's the expert and knows what she's doing it'll be great. We were then sent a $350 bill for this sizing, for the adding of the speed-bumps (which were spaced too far apart on the underside of the ring and dug into the webbing on the side of her fingers) the ring came back too small for my wife's finger, and the diamonds were still loose. Not trusting to send the ring back a 3rd time, with how aggressive and terrible at listening they were, they advised us to take to a jewelers to get a quote to fix the rings speed bumps. After spending $300 with the new jeweler to sand off the speed bumps and add new ones, that were small because the ring was sized so small, just needed something to lock onto my wife's knuckle so it wouldn't fling off. She wore the ring and we had moved on from this time consuming situation. Shortly after my wife looked down and saw one of the loose diamonds missing that we were assured wouldn't fall out, because of the metal, even if they were loose. Now my wife won't wear the ring that lasted 17 year in the soft White Gold medal that fell apart within a year of having it remade by Kretchmer. So much war with the interactions, even after reassuring he we don't want to fight about this we just want the ring to be right, and fixed. We were blamed for the rings faultiness. Find a jeweler with better customer service, warranty work, and for sure better energy and attitude. read more

Received instead no accountability on their part of their mistakes, and was blamed for all the wrong that happened with our ring all within 1 year of it being re-made for us by them! After taking my tension setting ring to the jeweler every 6 months to have the main Diamond tightened we decided to invest into having it remade in the "spring medal" these guys have that's supposedly thousands of times stronger in its tension to hold the Diamond tight. After receiving the ring back it looked beautiful, but the 2 top diamonds on the side of the main Diamond were loose & sizing was off. We drove 6 hours to take the ring in to have the loose diamonds addressed and a simple sizing done. While talking to Claudia, she said the loose diamonds will be fixed and we'll take the sizing down to 4 3/4 AND add speed bumps... I said my ring size is a 5 that seems it's going to be too small to adjust the size and add speed bumps. She reassured me she was the expert and it'd be fine. They mailed the ring back and it didn't fit, and the diamonds were still loose. After several emails back n forth taking no responsibility for their mistakes, the hassle this ring was, and turning back on their "lifetime guarantee warranty", I have a ring I paid thousands for to be re-made to be hassle free are are left with a wedding ring void of a Diamond and the other side Diamond loose! Was really hopeful and excited to work with her and to have a ring I didn't have to babysit. In conclusion, I now have a ring I won't wear, and they refuse to take responsibility for and turned back on their warranty saying "we must have applied heat to it" I would advise to stay away from this jeweler. We had some time planned to stop in at jewelry stores when we got to Scottsdale for a conference and 'stumbled upon' Opus...and we're glad we did! Shopping for an engagement ring is a crazy process and we were looking for a little guidance. Jill and Josh at Opus gave us their undivided attention on both days - our first visit on Wednesday and for our appointment this morning.
