In a world where women are quickly losing autonomy over their own bodies and medical professionals are quick to dismis us, I want to sing the praises of Dr. Harter. He listened to me and advocated for me in so many ways through four total pregnancies (two births, two losses). The wait times are astronomical because he's worth it. I'll try to keep this summary short, but I doubt it will be even with me trying. To start, when I had an ectopic pregnancy, he understood how hard this was for me and when I begged him to save my fallopian tube, he promised he would try and he did, as well as my life as I was internally bleeding. When I got pregnant 8 months later, I was absolutely terrified of it being another ectopic. He booked me at 4 weeks for an ultrasound and didn't make me wait. Well, on the way to the appointment, my car died and I couldn't make it. This was on a Friday and I was devastated. I was shocked when a couple hours of later, his office called me and asked if I wanted to come in the end of the day for the ultrasound instead. My husband was able to take me, and when I got in Dr. Harter remarked that he knew how nervous I'd be, and that he knew I'd only miss my appointment if something had happened. He didn't want me to wait until the next week to find out if my pregnancy was okay or not. He literally stayed after hours to fit me in without me even asking - and everything was okay. A year after that successful pregnancy when I fell pregnant again, I opted to do blood draws to ensure my numbers were rising as they should. When it became 5pm on Friday night I was saddened that I probably wouldn't know until Monday. Yet my phone rang at 630pm, with Dr. Hafter himself on the line, apologizing for calling after hours but wanting to reassure me that my numbers hadn't just doubled, but tripled. He even joked that it might be twins (thankfully it wasn't, hah). And none of this even takes into account how he advocated and listened to my wishes in the births of both my daughters, from giving me the full opportunity to birth the way I wanted, to turning the lights off as I was pushing and was overwhelmed by them, and then even helping me after the birth when I needed letters for disability accommodations with my job. He just, honestly, I can't sing his praises enough. I literally wouldn't be on this earth without him, and neither would my two beautiful little girls. It's rare for one person to be able to change so many lives for the better, and Dr. Harter just happens to be one of those people. read more

If you use a wheelchair forget about being treated well here. I helped my friend who is cute and tiny just 5"1 and 98 lbs., very clean and hygiene is very important to her, and yet she was treated like she had a contagious deformity by the staff here. Never again. I am not going here myself anymore after seeing this rude and unprofessional behavior. How dare they all treat someone so poorly. Then 1 1/2 wait in lobby and a very long wait in the room. Unprofessional. Unsatisfactory service. Non thorough exam. Nope, I do not recommend this place anymore for one second to anyone. read more

Finding a doctor you trust to deliver your firstborn baby is not easy. Dr. Harter makes you feel so comfortable about every decision you are making for you and your little one. He does not overstep boundaries and is a delight to have in the delivery room. He tries his hardest to not miss a single delivery and I believe that to be true. He agrees with natural labor/birth, midwife's/doulas, etc. He is on board with whatever you choose. He is specialized also in doing vaginal births even after a cesarean. I was able to go vaginal with first degree tears only thanks to a perineal massage during the pushing. Love this doctor! read more

Had a terrible birth experience with my first born, someone suggest Harter and it was the best decision I've ever made! He delivered my son with zero complication, and such a rewarding experience! I had an incredible birth experience with Dr. Harter! I was referred to him by several doulas because I was determined to have a VBAC. I ended up requiring a repeat cesarean, but he made me feel so comfortable. I was even able to do skin to skin with my daughter in the OR. My recovery has also been amazing. I don't have any of the numbness or pain that I experienced with my first c-section. He truly cares about people and I'm so grateful to have found him. read more

I gave birth at Centennial Hills was in labor for 28 hours, 2 epidurals and he kept telling me that I could do it even though I was asking for a c-section I'm so glad he helped me through my high risk pregnancy!!! I was also having problems with one of the nurses there and he was the one who kicked her out and said her presence wasn't necessary due to her rude and disrespectful behavior toward myself and my husband. Above all he always puts his patients first. I gave birth July 20th at 4 AM and he was going to leave for vacation that morning but he stayed and delivered my baby, he also placed my MIRENA IUD, I've had it since 2019 with NO problems! There aren't enough words to describe how wonderful he is and his staff is as well! read more

He is such a pleasure and very kind and compassionate. I just had my twins and he was great throughout the whole thing. Even after being called over Thanksgiving weekend for an emergency c-section at 8pm to deliver my twins he showed up all smiles and with such good vibes! I can't remember the name of his helper but he basically saved my life cause I had postpartum hemorrhaging and he took action immediately. Dr harter did come back in and stated I was "complicated" right after I gave birth which was a little disappointing. (Due to my emergency c-section and hemorrhaging) Dr Harter would much rather deliver vaginally as opposed to c-section, and he has no problem letting it be known to you over and over at every appointment. Do not put your child in harms way. I'm not sure about what he used to be but he for sure is not a good doctor. I lost my baby at 38.5 weeks all bc he did not read my ultrasounds. Do not tell him your baby name he uses that to make it seem like he know you and is interested in caring for you. "Dr, do I need epidural? " "You are 7 cms open, you look comfortable, in 5 mins you are going to have a baby!" Okay, I can handle 5 mins ... 2 hours later "I'm dying, please give me epidural" Got my epidural, pushed like hell for 3 hours, I'm ready to see my baby. Nurse:" you have to wait for 30 mins , dr Harter is in Summerlin hospital and he is on the way back @&$€£%€¥#* 7 days after delivery. My stitches were broken. Called the office: you need to go to ER Went to ER, had it fixed by an intern, unfortunately after a week it's still hurt like hell. Called office again, " Dr Harter is fully booked, I can only have his assistant to check on you" Went to see his assistant, his assistant: "I don't see a problem here, you need to give it another week to heal and if it's still hurt, come back to see me" Another week I was still hurt like hell. Called up again and still can't see Dr Harter, assistant told me to go back again 4 days later Finally saw Dr Harter after 25days of delivery and endless pain, He looked at my wound and surprised" no wonder you were in so much pain, the stitches they did in ER was not right" he cut off the stitches and did a little repair. I'm alive again. Not to mention 1-3 hours waiting in the office every time I had an appointment with him End of the story. I sought out Dr Harter based on his reputation for supporting natural delivery as I really wanted to avoid a C-Section. While the waits for appointments can sometimes be long (he is known to almost never miss a birth and sometimes has to leave to deliver), I thought they were totally worth it. Dr Harter was always very friendly and supportive and willing to answer all the questions my husband and I may have had. He also allows you to work with a doula (which I wanted to do). The appointments with him were quick and straight to the point. I ended up needing to deliver early due to hypertension/preeclampsia that was discovered at one of my weekly checkups. That's to Margaret, the head nurse in his office, and her fast acting, I was able to get down to the hospital and into a delivery room to address the situation before it got worse. Dr Harter still honored my wishes in trying for a natural delivery and induced me. I only felt pressure from one nurse to go for a c-section as it got kind of scary at one point. Dr Harter reviewed the situation and determined it was still safe for me and baby to continue trying for a natural birth. In the end, I was able to deliver naturally at 35+4 and have a beautiful baby boy without having to be cut open. If I had different care, I'm not sure that it would have unfolded in the same way. I pondered whether or not to write a review, but finally felt compelled to. The office is extremely busy - expect to wait. I did, so was fine with that. The front desk person I dealt with was lovely, as was Dr. Harter's nurse assistant. As a person, Dr. Harter is one of the nicest I have ever met. He is kind, warm and very personable. However, my routine pap felt rushed and it felt like the roughest pap smear I have ever experienced. I was sore for two days. He has confidence and moves fast so maybe I was not expecting that, but it was VERY uncomfortable. I also expressed a concern over something I was experiencing in my sexual health and did not feel it got addressed at all. From the different doctors I have been to for this type of check-up, I give Dr. Harter two stars. As a person, I give Dr. Harter 5 stars. Perhaps I caught him on a less than optimal day. read more

I wish I could give 5 stars (FOR APRIL, DR HARTER ASSISTANT, she is amazing and such a pleasure to be around, thank you) however, I had a less than pleasant experience checking out. I just don't understand people who don't have great customer service/ people skills yet choose to work in the customer service field?? I don't appreciate monotone, annoyed, unhappy tones who don't smile nor try to connect with you in any way, and that's exactly how the check out lady treated me. She explained a bunch of things to me about my appointment that I didn't understand afterwards, I kept telling her "what??" Like she wasn't speaking clearly nor was she making any sense. After I asked her a hundred questions, I kinda understood. Basically what she was telling me was that I have an appointment in one month with Dr. Harter, but I have an ultrasound in 2 weeks at a different location (I had to ask her why, she said their tech was booked, but she didn't explain that until I asked her why), then she said I had another appointment with a specialist and they would call me... she kept using big terms that I don't understand, doctor words or something that I didn't understand & I kept asking her what the hell she was talking about and she was annoyed that she had to explain herself. Basically she gave me 3 different appointments with 3 different locations and had the nerve to be annoyed that I didn't understand! I thought I was only being rescheduled for one appointment, so excuse me for bad communication. But April was amazing and I'm so glad I got to meet her, I don't understand how she's not already a doctor HERSELF! read more

I went to Dr Harter because I wanted to have a natural birth after 2 C-sections and he said he would let me try. I did great and got to 7 cm but then my baby's heartbeat dropped and I was raced into the OR. I am so thankful that my baby is alive and beautiful. The doctor continues to remind me of that but he ignores what he put my body through and puts the blame on me instead of trying to fix his mistake. I had massive bruising across my entire lower abdomen and it was hard. I had never experienced this after be C-section. Icalled his office and asked to come see him and they pushed me off to someone else. When other doctors saw me they said wow! or oh!, No one could believe how bad it was. Finally when I saw him for my 6 week checkup he said that I have diastasis recti over 5 cm then the next words out of his mouth shocked me to my core. He said, "Normally I sew that up"..... What? Why didn't he?! It is 7 months later and I still have a whole in my gut and my guts are protruding! Called his office and told them he needs to fix this! They said I can come in to see him but they are going to charge me a $190!!! No way! read more

I'll preface this by saying that I moved out of state before giving birth, so I did not fully experience Dr. Harter's care. Just reviewing the experience I had with him and his office during the first trimester. I went to Doctor Harter because I've known a few people who rave about his excellent care and because he is well reviewed for successful VBACs. Nothing was especially bad during my time as his patient, but nothing was especially excellent either: it was just kinda meh. I felt like a number, both with the office staff and with Dr. Harter himself. He was pleasant and he made sure to review my chart and remember my son's name, which was nice, but the appointments were rushed and the tiny office was full of people (student, nurse, PA, Dr. Harter), which made asking questions awkward. I was also put off by how he explained (or rather didn't explain) genetic testing, and how his office and the lab there acted throughout the whole process of me getting the Materni21 test. I am over 35, and it is standard practice to offer this test, but instead of ever explaining the test, he handed me a form with various tests for me to simply select what I wanted and sign, and he didn't explain that I would just walk in to the lab to take these. Instead, he advised me to wait to take the test until 14 weeks, which is the end deadline for the test and would prevent any action if results were abnormal, and he miscommunicated with me, leading me to believe I had made an appointment for the test, which was really just my next OB appointment. I only understood this when I called the office back to reschedule the test to the recommended 12 week time frame and the office told me to just walk in. Actually getting the test was a whole separate debacle with everyone needing to verify that my insurance would cover it before I could get the test done, and each person I interacted with was weird about it until someone finally called and told me that I could just take it, although later the lab tech again acted strange about it and had to go verify my insurance. Then when they did the test, they didn't include the gender despite me checking the box for it. Just a weird, annoying run around. Especially given that his response to me wanting the test was that I still had a 20% chance of miscarrying at 12 weeks and that his personal preference with his wife was to put it in God's hands. It's absolutely fine for that to be his personal preference in his family, but it should not interfere with him offering standard testing to his patients at the recommended time. At my last appointment, I didn't see Dr. Harter and it wasn't even clear to me that my appointment had ended after seeing two PAs very briefly. Finally an MA came in and saw me still sitting in the room she needed and told me I was free to go. Just overall a very awkward, kinda unhelpful and impersonal atmosphere that is the total opposite of what I'm looking for during one of the most important stages of my life. read more

First of all, Dr. Harter is awesome!! He delivered both of my children through c-section. The first one was breeched. He gave me an option to try vbac on the second but I decided to schedule a c-section for personal reasons. He is very understanding and is super busy because he's good at what he does. During my first pregnancy I originally had a different doctor until I was 36 weeks is when I went to Dr. Harter after my husband found him online. My Dr. threatened me to take me to court and involve social services if I did not want to vaccinate my baby. Think about the stress this lady caused me while I was pregnant. I believe it's our choice and right to choose what is best for our children. During my first appointment with Dr . Harter at 36 weeks he did a sonogram and noticed my fluids were very low and that I had to have the baby the same day. He called the hospital and asked them to have the papers ready because it was important to us to decline the vaccines. I have 2 healthy beautiful children. Thank you Dr. Harter! Dr Harter delivered both of my children and has been my doctor for 10 years now. He is very warm, friendly and has a relaxed / soothing way of talking to you. He has helped me through some very hard times (a lost pregnancy and later and major depression) He has never rushed me through an appointment, even though I know that he has a bunch of patients waiting for him. When he is in the room with you, you feel that all of his attention and focus is on you. Which to me is worth the wait. There usually is a wait to get in to see him and sometimes he does need to leave to deliver a baby.... which makes the wait longer. But I figure he had to leave his patients for me when he delivered my babies in the middle of the day. (Especially my 2nd baby which had complications during the delivery.) So to me it's a "give and take". I just know to bring a book or something to my appointments because I never know if an emergency is going to come up. read more

I had a VBAC (Vaginal birth after cesarean) with Dr. Harter 4 years ago. It was a very pleasant experience with no complications. Dr Harter genuinely cares, listens and wants the best experience for his patients and newborns. This is coming from my personal experience with him. This career definitely seems to be his passion. On a side note, you do have to wait a little longer during check up/appointment visits but I'm sure that's because he doesn't rush his patients and speaks thoroughly with them about any concerns or questions they may have. I have been going to dr.harter since December 2016 for pre natal care. My experience there has been a nightmare to say the least. Wait time is around 1 to 2.5 hours. 2 weeks before my due date I am informed by the receptionist that Dr harter is going a "vacation " for 2 weeks!!! So I had to schedule an induction. The day I have birth Dr. Harter was on call, he is informed by the nurse at 10:30 am that I'm ready to push since I'm 10 cm dilated and baby is crowning . His tells the nurse " I'm going to mass at 11 am, I hope she can hold it until noon when I get back" long story short he shows up to the hospital at 1:05 pm and baby is born at 1:06 pm with a cone head ( stuck on birth canal for over 2 hours over waiting for this clown Dr to arrive). One week post partum I developed mastitis, I see Dr harter and he prescribes antibiotics and says " you are lucky you caught it on time, if it gets worse I'll have to drain it " 3 days latter I developed a bigger lump and a second one so I make an appointment to see the Dr again and I prepare to be drained in his office. I tell the Dr I'm in a lot of pain with fever of 102.5, and he says " I don't know what to do, I'll give you stronger antibiotics and hope they work " I asked him to please drain my boob and he says he wants an ultrasound first , they make an appointment for the ultrasound 2 days latter, and got the results 2 days after that stating my abscess is so big I need it drained ASAP and Dr. Harter refers me to a breast specialist to do the job.... for my surprise the speciali st i was referred to doesnt have any appointments until more 2 weeks even when the referal said "rush/urgent". His practice and his ethic is a joke. He let me suffer 3 weeks. The breast specialist was shocked and even mad that dr.harter let my case go for so long without the proper treatment and put me through so much stress and pain that could have been easily stopped since the first time I asked dr.harter for help. I was referred to this office by someone I trust and so far have been nothing but disappointed. I actually called the office to ask what the deal is and the MA comes in and is like "you called?" She informed me when I got in here that the doctor is out delivering a baby and that I would see the PA, which is fine, but then tells me, after the fact, that "she has to see her patients first... do you want to reschedule?" NO. I waited a month for this appointment! I guess I just have to keep waiting while I hear them laughing in the hallways. Health care in Las Vegas is a joke. read more

I'm not sure Dr Harter's feet actually touch the ground. He's one of those healthcare professionals who literally floats around. Pregnancy and birth can be scary and overwhelming, but he makes any situation better, simply with his manner of being. In my humble opinion, anyone complaining about wait times or petty frustrations of dealing with a busy practice simply don't understand how lucky they are to have him. I don't know when he sleeps. He delivered two children for us, and one of the times, we needed him at 5 am. He had been delivering babies all night long, but refused to let another doctor do his job. He arrived minutes later, sans sleep, and delivered our baby in a remarkably timely manner, given the circumstances. He made our experiences, scary as they were at times, as enjoyable and rewarding as I could ever imagine. He's the closest thing Las Vegas has to a midwife in a hospital setting. If you want to wait a long time to be seen only to be rushed through or seen by his NP (who is nice but not who I planned to see throughout my pregnancy), go with him. I was really unimpressed by the level of care provided by Dr. Harter at all of my appointments. Even in my C-Section, he didn't bother to come to the other side of the curtain when he was done to talk to me about how things went. Dr.Harter delivered 2 of my 3 children. While the wait may have been long some days it was absolutely worth it. When he's in the room with you, you are his only priority. He's not trying to rush you out of there. He has great bedside Manner and just really cares about his patients. You can tell he is passionate about what he does. He takes pride in being present for the birth unlike many other group practice OBGYN's in which case you get whoever is working on the day you go into labor (unless you schedule an induction or c-section). I figured I would update my review since I gave birth. I switched to Dr. Harter in my 7th month to try for a water birth... well you know what they say about plans haha. after a day and a half of labor, progressing to 3cm and a baby that couldn't tolerate pitocin we opted for a c section. Dr Harter never was pushy about anything and would have let me continue to labor, I was just done. He was very reassuring during my surgery and my scar is so tiny and well concealed that if I didn't have enough stretch marks to look like a tiger I could totally wear a bikini again! At my followup he remembered my wishes for natural labor and payed out all the info I would need to Vbac which was really great to hear. I scheduled an appointment to see this doctor after reading glowing reviews on the Internet. Due to the minimal selection of providers near my home, I drove 100 miles to see this doctor. My appointment was at 3pm but they asked me to arrive at 2:30pm to fill out paperwork. They also made a point of asking me to be on time. I arrived as asked. My paperwork was completed by 2:45pm. At 3:40pm I was still waiting. I inquired and was told he was running behind with 2 patients still ahead of me. My time is just as important as his and over scheduling to the point of leaving me wait 40 minutes and still 2 people ahead of me is not acceptable. I am so disappointed that I drove to this office. Doctor Harter is absolutely the kindest, most sincere and pure hearted doctor I have ever met. He really cares about his patients and it shows. I'm going through a high risk pregnancy (this is also my first baby) with a very poor prognosis but decided to carry my son to term. He's been there for me every step of the way and respected every decision my fiancé and I have made.
