I've been getting tempura vegetables at this stand for 20 years. I love it, quality is consistent and the veggies are delicious.

We try one new restaurant each month just to keep things fresh, so this time I suggested Fawn's. I'm really glad we did. I had heard so many great things about the food so I was excited to try it. When I saw the menu, though, I was a little nervous because they serve Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Laotian food. In my experience, restaurants that try to serve all kinds of Asian food rarely do one or all of them well. I ordered Pad Thai and my husband got Evil Jungle Prince. I was very pleased. It was the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten. It was SO good! My husband loved his dish, too. It had chicken and vegetables with a spicy sauce made with red curry and coconut milk. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge. We each got two meals out of our dinners. I love it when that happens. The place isn't fancy. It's in a small strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside it's very clean and well-kept. There's not much for ambience besides two flat screen TVs. It doesn't matter because it's the food that really stands out. The service was excellent, too. My husband had his iced tea refilled twice without even asking. Great affordable food and good service. What more can you ask for? If you love Asian food, give them a try. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes.

The spicy edamame had a little kick but nothing too crazy. The sushi was very fresh and everything we ordered was really good. The waiter seemed to be new bc he seemed nervous but the overall service was pleasant. The vibe was chill, the temperature was perfect on a sub-zero freezing day, and the lights were the right 'dim' amount. I recommend this restaurant and I definitely will be eating there again.

A lady swung around from the bar and said "oh I didn't see you." Turns out she was the hostess. Food was ok, a bit pricey in my option. We ordered very basic rolls California and shrimp tempura rolls those were $6 and $9. I was with my teen daughter and she only like California rolls. So it was fine. I've had better sushi ironically in Ankeny. For a quick bite this was fine- but I wasn't overwhelmed by it. Service was ok. Food came out fast but was well paced with the appetizer we ordered first. However our server wasn't overly friendly and seemed like she didn't want to be there at all.

First of all, just the 3 protein bowl is definitely big enough to split between two or maybe even three people. I selected shrimp, salmon, and spicy salmon with almost all the free veggie toppings, mixed rice, and spicy Mayo and eel. I do think they made a mistake and accidentally put the soy ginger sauce on it instead (?) as there was no eel sauce. However it was a small mistake and the food was still really delicious. I also ordered a jasmine mango tea. It was alright and the toppings were generous (lots of popping boba and mango slices) but the tea was super bitter like it had been oversteeped. Either way the poke was really delicious better than anything else we have tried in Des Moines. We will definitely try to order again if we come to the area in the future.

There were three food trucks and grilled cheese fit the bill for the four of us (2 adults, 4 yr old, and 1 yr old). It's not the most attractive looking truck but, most of them aren't. Their menu was posted on the side showing the grilled cheese or nacho offerings. We knew our one year old would get a plain grilled cheese but it took a bit to determine the others. So many tasty sounding options! Our four year old declared she wanted pineapple on hers. Great, really, pineapple on a grilled cheese? They had it! A Hawaiian Toast! It was cheese, Canadian bacon, and pineapple...perfect for her! We added a Mason Dixon which has pulled pork, pepper jack cheese, and BBQ sauce. A #Hashtag (corn beef hash, soft poached egg, and American cheese) rounded out our order. The sandwiches came out rather quickly, and in pairs. The first two that came out were the kids' and they looked yummy. The plain grilled cheese was thick and melty with perfectly toasted bread. Our little guy had no problem scarfing it down. Our daughter was thrilled with the pineapple on hers and ate about half the entire sandwich (a good amount for her). I enjoyed my Mason Dixon and my husband enjoyed his #Hashtag. He did have to ask for a fork as it was a bit messy. We finished off the kids' sandwiches. I enjoyed the plain one a lot! My husband's only comment on the Hawaiian toast was it'd be better if they could toss the pineapple on the grill to caramelize a bit first. This food truck is a solid choice for lunch!
