Six-Star Food Truck Stop After a Windy and Dusty Bike Ride We had Karam's Grill from their catering truck at Cellar Winery during a blues event on May 24, and it was absolutely fantastic. Kim and I shared the Chicken Shawarma Plate, and it was some of the best food truck food we have ever had. Everything tasted fresh, the flavors were excellent, and the chicken was incredibly tender. We had ridden about 20 miles in the wind, including a couple miles of gravel, to get there on bicycles, so between the cold beer and this plate of deliciousness, it felt pretty heavenly. The venue was a perfect spot for the truck, and the guy running it was funny, friendly, and courteous. That always makes the experience even better. Fresh ingredients, great flavor, tender meat, and friendly service. I cannot wait to try Karam's Grill again. 10/10. Yelp only lets me give 5 stars, but this felt like a 6-star visit. read more

We were excited to try out this Mediterranean food truck when it came near our home. We headed there after our daughter's soccer practice was done. That meant it was close to 7:00pm before we got there (the truck had been set up starting at 5:00pm). When we arrived, their generator had stopped working which meant anything that needed fried wasn't available. I felt bad for the people working the truck because I could tell they were flustered. On to plan B for our kid's meals. I ordered the Falafel platter as they had just enough of them left for that. My husband got the Lamb Gyro and we got the mini chicken gyro for our kids. The food was ready quickly. We ate at a picnic table that was nearby. I wasn't the biggest fan of my falafel platter. The falafel was really dry and lacked a lot of the flavor I desired. The rest of the platter was fine. My husband seemed to like his lamb gyro and our kids liked the chicken in the mini gyro but left the rest alone. We admittedly didn't choose this food truck at the next two events we saw it at. Not that it wasn't something we'd eat again, it just didn't wow us. read more

We recently ordered the mixed grill meal at a local event and were blown away by the amount of food that we received and the fantastic flavors! We had both lamb and chicken, a plentiful salad with very fresh ingredients, and sauce and bread. The flavor was amazing and two of us were able to eat off of this one dish. We also went back to the food truck for baklava desserts for each of us - it was also delicious! The serving side was perfect as well. The owner and his family are some of the nicest people we've met and we always enjoy supporting their business. read more

Karam's was the food offering at The Covered Bridges Winery last night, so when we arrived we got in a queue of about 10 to order our food. The proprietor took all our orders and then went back to make them all. It took about 7-8 minutes to get our food - very reasonable, and the foot was hot and very fresh tasting. I got the lamb/beef gyro, and my wife got the chicken shawarma. Each was a generous portion with tender, tasty meat and veggies. We both definitely needed a fork to eat away before we could manage to work at them as a handheld. Prices are reasonable considering the serving sizes, and everything was prepared as expected. Definitely recommend giving them a try! read more

Oh I am new found fan of gyros over the last few years. The fresh shaved meat mixed with your favorite veggies and tzatziki sauce. This food truck is visiting our side of town over the summer weeks. Just a short walk justifies the delicious food in a pretty large quantity. The van was a nice white look with the menu in the window. They had a few special items written on the side of the truck if you wanted. I am not sure how they prepare the meat cause there is no hunk of lamb hanging visibly in the food truck window like a state fair venue. I got to the window and ordered with no line..which is good.I beat the rush that was walking up. I had my food within about 8 min. I had a little walk back to my office and sat down to enjoy a delicious gyro. It was pleasantly a big gyro. It was beef/lamb mix. Large amount of tomatoes, cheese, lettuce and other items that make a good gyro. I was happy to see such a crowd enjoying the options that they had available. I think that I will be going back for a second round when they come back in a few weeks. The price is up there which is about normal for the food trucks. For the space they have I think they are doing a great job and really booming here in town. Make sure you try them out when you find them next. read more

Good Gyro. Karam's has been showing up for lunch at my place of work since the Des Moines Mobile Food Vendor Program started and they have been a crowd pleaser. Serving pretty good mediteranian style food with great service Karam's is becoming a food truck favorite at my work. Respectively I enjoy the Gyro with its overflowing tomatos, onions and lamb/beef. My wife enjoys the Chicken Shawarma variety which it just as delicious. Karam's never fails to be fresh and tasty always offering a healthy and genuine food truck experience. One of the more healthier food trucks that parks in our lot, Karam's is always at the top of my list when they show up. The staff are nice and will make your food however you want like add hot sauce or hold a veg or even vegetarian if you ask. I got a chance to eat here today. I'm kind of thinking I should do it here or not. Finally I made my mind to get a beef & lamb gyro. It's so good that if I didn't eat here I would regret myself for life. They had an option to add hot sauce in it which made gyro more tastier. Ordered the lamb and beef gyro. This was decent, but, overpriced at 10 smackeroos. The lamb/beef was on the dry side and could have used more spices in the beginning prep stage. The tzatziki sauce was on point (but, seriously no one should be capable of messing up tzatziki sauce.) Nice mix of veggies, no feta (sad face.) It was served with (possibly) oven baked frozen french fries (meh). The hummus was a single serve container of sabra... WTF... what Middle Eastern/ Mediterranean restaurant/ food truck doesn't make homemade hummus, it's just wrong, it's wrong I tell ya. read more

The chicken gyro was not cut well. The meat was in long strips and was difficult to eat even with the fork given.

This food truck is one of my favorites. During the summer when it is at the sculpture park I eat at it every other week.
