We now have two very large Great Pyrenees and the first stop after having adopted them from the Nacogdoches shelter, was for a hello check up with Dr Lott. He is a no nonsense but very patient, skilled vet and though vet care is never inexpensive, his cost for care is manageable. Recently our two dogs were found on our property (they are indoor/outdoor protectors for us and our chickens, ducks and geese)both with paralyzed back ends, unable to stand, crying and fearful. Within minutes they were in the clinic's care. They had ingested a "toxic" substance but we never found the cause. That afternoon Dr Lott called to talk with us, a longer conversation than I have ever had with my own personal physician, and let us know that both dogs were stable. Yes, follow up shows that the big Pyr will require medication and special diet for renal failure. We are retired on a fixed income and the care is quite expensive but effective...our dogs are perky, happy and living life on the farm. It is never easy to decide what to give up (Cablevision) in order to take care of one's pets. I have done a lot of research online looking for less expensive options for purchasing the food and meds but find that the Clinic is comparable. I would rather give that business to my local vet. Today we picked up a sample pack of food, very generous. Those are the acts of kindness that matter in business. Thank you Dr Lott and each member of the team at Appleby Sand Road Animal Clinic! Ok we did, bought the expensive vet only pet food and went on about our lives. There was little to no improvement. Talk to the vet again. Obviously we've done something wrong our cat is about to die without hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of surgery. We obviously cannot pay all of that up front. Payment plans? Laughed at. "We do not do payment plans." Basically left with the choice, give us your cat or watch him die. We did not want him to die. Signed papers, "tech" lady said we would be able to adopt him back after everything was said and done. They put him up for adoption, we called and were the first ones to do so, "Oh you'll have to speak with the vet." Wait. 3 hours later our cat has been adopted out to someone else. OK fine. I leave a comment on the post, "To whomever is adopting Druss Druss please know he hates dogs and children, tolerates other cats (he took one cats eye) prefers to sleep on your head and must be the center of your world at all times. He was my friends emotional support animal when he got sick the vet doesn't do payment plans so he was taken. I had hoped to adopt him and keep him with me because at least it would be someone he knew and liked, he even bonded with one of my cats who is now struggling with a depression. I hope whoever is taking him will actually love him and understand that he was and will forever be someone's baby." Nothing rude, vulgar, no cussing. They kept deleting it. They went so far as to block me from the page like I had actually done something to them. So in review, do not trust this vet with your pet, ever. It's all about how to tun a buck. Laughs at the poor and does not care about your pets. Do yourself and your fur babies a favor and pass this place up.

It was ME, who finally figured out he has ALLERGIES! Got Apoquel from Chewy around $88 dollars a couple months ago. Monday 12-15-2025, I took my dog to Ward animal to have him checked out to get a prescription for 6-12 months. Well, since Ward had approved apoquel from Chewy, she said they didn't need to see him even though we both were there now! Chewy has sent several Faxes for approval by POOL! A 30 supply of Apoquel 16 mg from Ward is $120. Today, she charged me $20 for POOL to send Chewy his approval. I did find another Vet. For 100 tablets of Apoquel 16mg cost me, $241, office visit $58, Miconahex+Triz 16oz $36 = $335 So, for JUST, a 100 tablets of Apoquel 16mg from Ward animal was going to COST ME $390!!!!!!!!! That's without a office visit, and without a 16oz bottle of Miconahex+Triz medicated shampoo. I never did think dr pool was truly there in having any kind of A REAL RELATIONSHIP with clients. Dr pool is there to PAD THAT POCKET OF HIS. Dr Ward sold his business to dr pool. I had overheard other clients, and I believe they too were taken by lack of concern. Today, my/our new Vet, SPENT THE WHOLE TIME IN THE ROOM WITH ME AND MY DOG. When a dr takes your pet away every time, taking them into the back, not spending time with you, YOU NEED TO MOVE ON!!!!!! There's been other instances as well. I adding everything will make some stop reading the review. GOD'S WITNESS... I have now CUT ALL TIES WITH WARD. Our 4 dogs and 7 cats have found a new home! Thank God!

I've used Ward regularly for a little over a year now, visiting a total of 11 times between my…read morethree pets (13 times if you include foster kittens). These visits have ranged from annual exams, to sick visits, to a spay, etc. and I can firmly say that I will *never* be back after my visit today. My 15-30 minute visit turned into a 2 hour frustrating situation due to vet incompetence. My most recent appointment was my first time meeting Dr. Josh Pool and he was absolutely terrible. He wouldn't prescribe my dog's anxiety meds, that he's been on for over 3 years, inferring that I would abuse the drugs and threaten his license. There's not even a way to abuse prozac, it's a slow release drug that takes about a month to even start working and is one of the most prescribed psych drugs in the world (degree in psych and biology, have worked in vet med). He mentioned other alternatives so I listed what I've tried before, as my dog is 7 and we've tried just about everything. He then said my dog was over medicated and suffering because he also gets trazodone for high stress situations/ as needed. He refused to prescribe trazodone and only prescribed 20mg prozac (when my dog is currently on 40mg) after going back and forth for 10 minutes. Even after I asked for other alternatives for him to prescribe like just trazodone or gabapentin- he refused. I showed records going back multiple years of my dog's severe anxiety and how prozac daily and trazodone when needed have helped him but he continued to infer I would abuse the drugs. He also mentioned that my dog needed a behaviorist .... when a behaviorist was the one in the first place to recommend prozac! I then was asking for a new cyst/ tumor on my dogs head to be aspirated; fine needle aspirates are one of the most common ways to see if a lump is cancerous or not, and it's very easy to do. The Dr refused to do it and said it was just "an old dog bump". I pushed again because it came on very fast and aggressive. The tech then tells me that the dr doesn't know how to do the procedure and doesn't know how to read the results under the microscope. I was actually flabbergasted that a vet can't do one of the easiest and most common skin cytologies in modern vet med. Of course this was followed by a $300-500 estimate to do an anesthetized biopsy and removal. Guess that beats the $30-50 they'd get for a FNA. Overall, I'm in the process of reporting them to the Texas vet med board. They kept my highly anxious and constantly crying dog in the back for an hour and a half (literally 90 minutes, I kept track) just tied up and waiting, panicking. They refused to prescribe him the correct meds. They apparently don't have knowledge of very basic medical procedures. They refused to comp, discount, or take off anything after everything that went wrong on their end during the visit. Im not even convinced they did the exam or gave him the heart worm prevention he needs, as they were also arguing with me about even giving him the injection despite his negative hwt. They inferred I abuse drugs. and the vet especially seems to get angry and mean when he's questioned. There's significantly more I could add but this is already long enough. Just stay away if you value your sanity, your wallet, or if you have a very basic sense of vet med to hold them accountable

I am extremely disappointed with Angelina Animal Hospital…read more My 2-year-old dog has been suffering from worsening vomiting and bloody diarrhea for the last couple of days, and tonight it became much worse. Because your website clearly states that you offer 24/7 emergency services, I called expecting at the very least some level of urgency, compassion, or guidance. Instead, I was essentially told "good luck." When a pet owner is scared, desperate, and trying to get help for an animal in pain, that kind of response is incredibly unprofessional and completely lacking in empathy. If a hospital advertises emergency availability, there should be a reliable system in place to either provide care or direct pet owners to immediate help -- not dismiss them in one of the most stressful moments possible. I understand emergencies can be busy, but the total lack of concern for my dog's condition was unacceptable. No pet owner should be left feeling abandoned when their animal is sick and actively suffering. I see why there rating is so low! This place does not seem legit! Good luck Angelina County! What's worse is I was 10 minutes from the establishment and started heading that way once the person on the phone told me that they were talking to their supervisor about meeting me arrived on site and seeing people inside the building. And she told me basically good luck that they couldn't help me. If possible, I would leave a "0" star! After reading the other "0" stars I see an astonishing pattern here. They do not offer 24 hour service! Something needs to be done about this place. Like it needs to go out of business sooner than later.

I was a professional animal handler and trainer for 4 years, so it's normally very hard for me to trust my animal in someone else's hands, but the Martin's made it easy. I never worried for a second when she was in their care. They have a gorgeous, sprawling East Texas property, and she always came home tired from romping and playing in the fields and the various enrichment activities they planned for her throughout the day. The Martin's really treat every animal like they are one of their own. It never mattered if it was a holiday, planned trip, or short-notice emergency, they were alway there to take her in and look after her when I had to be away. I remember picking her up for a 10-day stay after Thanksgiving and their son told me she was sleeping in his bed every night. Unfortunately, I have to move cross-country soon and recently picked her up from her final stay. I know Timber and I will miss her "home away from home" and the family who's love for animals knows no bounds. It will be difficult finding a boarding facility in our new home because they have set the bar so high. They are a truly wonderful family that exceeded industry expectations on every level.

I would give negative stars if I could. I am new to the area and was so excited to find a "doggy…read moreday care ". This was the second time I utilized the "day care". When I arrived to pick them up, I noticed one of my dogs eyes bleeding and my other was scratched up too. I asked if they had gotten into a scuffle with each other or what and they had no idea. The girl said it had to have been with each other because they were in a pen together (they have never injured each other like this). So they just get locked up unsupervised. I was in complete shock I just got my dogs out of there as quickly as possible. No one apologized or offered a wet paper towel to clean her eye. I am disgusted that a business can have such lack of respect for the animals in their care. I was supposed to let them groom my dogs in a few weeks but I will absolutely never take my dogs back there under any circumstance.
