We were finally able to schedule a test shoot this past Saturday. Anthony definitely lived up to his name, let me tell you. All before the shoot, Anthony was professional and highly communicative and we got along almost instantly through the phone. He brought along an assistant who was very kind and helpful- Christina. Something that I noticed that Anthony did was game plan the shoot- which I appreciated. I've shot with many photographers where no one communicates a game plan of what we will shoot or where for the shot, and I hate this because it wastes a lot of time and energy. Anthony had a plan and knew what we both wanted. Another key trait that I loved about Anthony was his explanation of the shot before I posed- it really helped get me in the zone of what the picture needed to look like. I also liked his tips on posing and his explanations on why that pose. He also provided other tips (ways to hide your veins in your arms even). He's also the first photographer that actually filmed a BTS video as opposed to me doing it or getting my husband to help me do it. This added to Anthony's professionalism and value. All in all, our shoot wasn't hours long and didn't need to be. I received my pictures extremely quick and the best part was that they didn't need any editing. Often times I see a photographer's style to really over edit their photos- but these came straight out of the camera and are extremely professional and beautiful. My husband saw them and said, "Now this is who you should be shooting with!" Anthony finally captured some of the looks that I wanted my portfolio to have that I couldn't quite capture with other photographers so far. That said, I'm hoping to shoot with him again and I can't wait to see what magic we create. After the engagement shoot, there were somethings I brought attention to that I wanted to be different at our wedding. They exceeded our expectations, communicated thoroughly throughout the entire wedding day and were incredibly sweet. We received our wedding media under 3 months and couldn't have been happier. As any bride planning a wedding knows, there are so many huge decisions that you have to make and…read moreso many different people that you have to put all of your trust into. For me personally, one of the most important decisions I needed to make was choosing a photographer and videographer as these are the only people who can truly help preserve every moment of our wedding day. I was an out of state bride (I live in Seattle but go married in Austin), and did SO much research into finding the right fit for us that was within a reasonable budget. After countless phone calls and emails with different photo/video teams, something just clicked when I found Double Knot. From beginning to end, they were just seamless. Most of our initial communication was via email and Adam was always extremely responsive and answered all of my crazy questions. My first major decision, and my best one, was hiring Double Knot for our February wedding at Log Country Cove (also a wonderful decision!). I flew to Austin a few months before our wedding and was able to meet with Adam and Kayla in person. I left feeling such a sense of relief as I knew that I was in good hands. It was actually kind of funny because when we left (my neighbor who is in her 50s) commented on how young they were. And that's what I loved! As someone who went to art school herself, I know how crucial it is to have someone who actually is up to date on everything. Photography and videography are both arts individually, but there is so much behind the scenes work (hours and hours of editing) that are required for weddings and I knew that I wanted a team that was fresh, current and hungry. That is 100% what you get with Double Knot. Adam and Kayla have this awesome balance of extreme professionalism but also of making you feel like they are friends that you've known for years. I was comfortable around them and it came through in all of the photos and videos. Wedding morning/day was complete chaos for me and I was finishing up so many last minute things. Adam was there to listen to my crazy banter, and even add in some himself, and somehow I think his presence actually calmed me down in some of those moments. Even when I was talking a mile a minute and anxiously joking, Adam was just chill and relaxed. I think that if I had an older team I just wouldn't have been as laid back as I was. *not knocking older photographers...just sayin' that this definitely played into my comfort level during a stressful morning. The Double Knot team really took the the reigns setting up some beautiful shots and just let me and my bridesmaids do our thing. The Groomsmen were all getting ready at a different house on property, and yet still, Adam and Kayla managed to capture so many wonderful moments at both. My husband and the groomsmen clearly felt comfortable around them because some of their group photos are hilarious! Kayla has such awesome direction with her photography and really feeds off of your energy. She's tiny and just quietly bopped around getting those amazing candid shots that I know every bride wants. She was like a Prius! She got some shots of me and I didn't even know she was there. Kayla was super efficient with all of our family photos and gave great direction. We have a big family and there were a lot of moving parts, but with some pre-planning they were able to really keep it flowing. Thanks to the smoothness of family photos, we really got to have a lot of fun with bride and groom shots. Kayla and her team were amazing! We thought we'd feel awkward being photographed together for the first time, but they made us feel so at ease and really soak in every single moment as husband and wife. They went above and beyond in every way; climbing up on things to get certain shots, fanning me off because it was so hot, you name it, they were on it. Post-wedding communication was great. Everything came as promised, on time, and exceeded all expectations. The only thing they didn't tell me up front was how emotional everything would make me! When looking at the photos, I cried, I laughed, and everything in between. Just when I'd see a photo I knew I wanted framed, I'd see another, and another...and another. And this is when I realized how glad I am that we added the photo album. I will cherish these photos for the rest of my life, but the one thing that I will be able to watch and get all of those wedding day "feels" back with is the Highlight video that Adam created. It's pure magic. I cannot even begin putting into words how it makes me feel every time I watch it. The abundance of love, the joy, the sense of family, and our personalities all came through in every second of the video. Photography and videography do so much more than preserve memories. They give you feeling. With each photo I look at, and each time I watch the highlight video, I go back to remembering how happy I was on my wedding day. My heart is just so full and we are so grateful for you!
