I have had some mixed feelings about steps but overall they have helped me tremendously. I think if i agreed with all of their "strategies" my stay wouldn't have been the same experience. I am truly grateful for the challenges they have presented me with. Some subtle, some abrupt. The therapists there really do care as much as they can... Ultimately your recovery is in your own hands though. It is up to the client to utilize his or her time here to the best of their ability. The first week i was at Steps I really wasn't feeling it (the routine/programming). But once i realized, "Holy Crap! These people just nursed me back to health and are trying to help me!" things got a lot easier. My perception had shifted from the negative, " Ahhh #%$* I gotta get up...Ugh we have to go do YOGA..POOR ME! Meh...I don't want to do any of this crap." to the positive, "Cool, we GET to do Yoga today, We GET to go to the gym, Siiick, we just went paddleboarding! WHAAT!? Their Taking us to TOPGOLF!? " Yeah, its a pretty cool place... The Recreation Therapy staff is SUPER cool I love and respect them. They are very influential to my recovery. At first I didn't like the techs, of course. My reason was because they enforced the RULES! (That's their job). Once i started following the rules I became good friends with them all. They are friendly, helpful, and also genuinely care about addicts recovering. No one forced pills down my throat nor even suggested i take anything while i was there so there's no reason anyone would be "heavily medicated" while they're there if they chose not to be. If you are utilizing your time at Steps ALL of the staff will work with you as much as they possibly can. Usually if you need something they will oblige. Steps is a great place in my opinion. They have helped me take a look at some serious stuff (Character Defects, Thinking Errors, Criminal Mentality) and work through it. I've been through a lot of carnage and misery in my life so I was willing to try something new... If you're Done...and you are Willing... Give this place a call. read more

I feel that all the staff was amazing and contributed tremendously to my recovery. Techs: Charity, Colton, Mallory, Jill, Trudy, Char, Mike, Greg, Austin, Megan the interaction with me as a resident definitely allowed me to process things in my recovery and allowed for outside point of view. The case mangers: Karrisa, Jessica, & Levi all worked great together to provide us with quality step groups transportation and allowed for our outside issues to be manageable. And then the clinical staff along with medical allowed for the healing process to be exponential. Chris as my therapist allowed me to work out my own processing to achieve my own recovery and gave me such great guidance and insight with my recovery, but my recovery wouldn't be what it was without the rest of the clinical and medical staff to help stabilize and guide me to what strength I have now in my recovery. Brandy and Dr Keep gave me the chemical boost and balance my body needed with my depression and stabilized my sleep patterns Then the other therapist Maddison, Alyssa, Kevin and Christy ran and guided process groups and gave such awesome support to me especially thru this journey to my recovery and I feel it wouldn't be what it is today without the connections I have been blessed with here at Steps. Cody and Kyle I feel do such vital work on publicity and intake allowing for the help and healing to start. I am overwhelmed with gratitude, appreciation and love for the Steps family especially here in Payson I can say I am a better, deserving, loving, compassionate, STRONG PERSON AFTER PROGRAMMING HERE AT STEPS And because of the tools gained here and the Recovery I am set in I am ready and willing to step forward and deliver this message to the next suffering addict in hopes that I can too do for them that Steps did for me when I couldn't do it for myself. I attended steps in October on 2016 and I will have a year if I stay sober for a couple more weeks, this program and the staff helped me do it. I attended their women's facility (if you're a woman with issues not only staying sober but staying away from men this one is a great one!) I got to know the owner Annie very well and the staff of clinicians as well, my therapist helped me through some of my darkest days and gave me the tools to help me not only want to be sober, but be a better person, help contribute to society, it is 12 step based and if you know anything about the AA program that is the most successful way to maintain, and be sober! I can honestly say (because I have integrity now) that their rec therapy program is the best and it helps you go inside yourself and see core issues and address them all while learning to love yourself and finding healthy alternatives to do instead of being miserable. If you're struggling with the misery of addiction you don't have to anymore steps recovery center can help you identify who you really are and what it's like to be alive inside and sober and free from the bondage of self! Their alumni program has helped me gain, and maintain positive healthy relationships and has allowed me to have the opportunity to play sobersoftball, and volleyball on Friday nights! I started my steps journey in February, of 2018. Going from Day treatment & residential in St. George, To completing my residential stay in the Payson facility. I can honestly say that this program has changed my life. The counselors are amazing, and the staff has helped me in so many ways. I've done treatment several other times, but never got, what I got out of my stay at Payson Steps. The case managers have done so much for me.. keeping me out of jail, supporting me, simply going above and beyond for me. I would definitely recommend this treatment center to someone I know. I can't thank my counselor enough for the work her, and I have both put in for my recovery. I feel stronger than ever. THE PROGRAM WORKS IF YOU WORK IT! You can find a fault in any program, but if you put your recovery first, and put in the necessary work in, then you can recover. Opinions are like Ass-holes.. Everybody has one. "I don't usually comment, but I feel it's important to warn others--Steps is NOT the place for recovery. It took me 10-12 rehabs over three years to get clean, and Steps was hands down the worst. The classes were absurdly long, sometimes lasting 2-3 hours without a break, and the counselor, Camille, was constantly on a power trip, belittling clients daily. The focus was more on enforcing pointless rules than actually helping people get sober. One of the worst experiences was when I was falsely accused of being high simply because I dropped my pen during a class. Despite passing multiple drug tests, the staff humiliated me by having everyone in the group accuse me of using, forcing me to defend myself in a public 'trial' of sorts. The environment at Steps was toxic, and the sober house was no better--full of backstabbing, gossip, and even theft. My time there was so bad it nearly caused me to relapse. If you're looking for a supportive and effective rehab, I strongly recommend Brickhouse in Boise instead." read more

My husband was a client at Step's Recovery. He is now 4 1/2 years clean and sober! I definitely want to thank Steps for saving my husband! If he had not entered into this facility I know he would be dead right now! His therapist and other therapists worked endlessly to help him. They also helped me learn about the addict and their mind. I always felt like my husband was using drugs and alcohol to hurt me specifically and I learned through family meetings that this was not the case. It was very enlightening to know and realize there were more people in my (our) situation! Steps has been life changing. the staff really care about all the clients and put their heart into helping them develop the tools needed to maintain sobriety and live a life free from drugs and alcohol. The food is absolutely amazing which we have Tyler Pino to thank for as well as his help to the group as well as individual clients. The case managers go above and beyond to help guide their clients along the path of recovery and meet their individual needs every step of the way. Rec therapy is AMAZING. In Rec, you have the opportunity to try new things and do many fun activities and go to some really cool places that you may have never been or thought you could do. I had a great experience at steps recovery. They helped me build my self up and see that there is a better way of life to live other then being in use. They also helped me identify bad behaviors and help me work threw all my triggers and learn how to reach out and ask for help when i am struggling with things as they come up in life. they also helped me a lot out with my courts they helped me do community service for my courts and probation. They have helped me financially as they have worked with me when i didn't have a job they helped me with a job so i could pay for sober living and my insurance premiums. And the biggest thing they helped me with is they helped me build self love and self respect and help me build the relationship with my family. This place changed my life and to say that is a miracle in its self. I was someone that did what i wanted and nobody could tell me different. The staff are the best part of the place cause they go out of there way to help you and really see where your coming from. They do all kinds of fun stuff and have a really good food menu. The staff and facility is amazing- Couldn't ask for anything better. The program is well rounded with rec activities, equine therapy, gender therapy, group therapy, individual and couples therapy, and also attends various 12 Step support groups such as AA or NA. They also have family therapy and processing with options for individual settings or in a group. These help families understand what their loves ones who suffer from addiction is going through and how to support them, and also gives them their own support system. read more

Steps is a great 12-step treatment program that will push you to your limit and challenge you to be a hard working, stand up, sober man or woman. My time at steps recovery in Payson was good for the most part. While i did have minor issues with the way in which staff talked to patients it was nothing that would cause me not to recommend this facility. Like recovery in general your time there will be what you put into the work and you can not expect to just show up/attend and be fixed with out doing the work for yourself. read more
