**** Update**** I have decided to update this review after…read morethe manager reach out to me to clear up the situation. As I mentioned in my original review it was truly a shocking moment to me that I refused to believe had happened considering how long I have been a patient of NWNP. Northwest Nurse Practitioner Associates to me represented everything that a family practice should embody and that is now missing in the health care system : empathy, compassion, knowledge, detailed-oriented, patience, confidence, trust, passion. I found all of the above qualities visiting Erin every years for the past 7 years and that last encounter (over the phone) with the manager was the complete opposite of what I was accustomed to hence my disbelief. I have the utmost respect for her and what she has built over the years and my decision to update my review is solely based on those 7 years. I do not believe that one incident should erase the consistent positive interactions and great care I have received from NWNP over the years. I want to believe that there was a miscommunication between me and the manager and it was not his intend to make me feel unheard. I appreciate him taking the time to reach out and write an apology email.

And that was true during that time. But something changed significantly as she transitioned to a sort of direct primary care practice and functional medicine practice. The practice seemed more impersonal. For example she tried to direct me away from monitoring my liver scores when I started taking statins. Although she had previously had the position that medications always have risks in promoting alternative medicine considerations and I had told her of my brother's death from non alcoholic cirrhosis due unmonitored prescription of cholesterol medication she tried to talk me out of the monitoring. At one point I had told her I didn't want to die from cirrhosis her reply was that there were worse ways to die.

The young lady that answered the phone was patient, polite and very concerned; I later found out, after arrival that her name was Dawn and she was not only the practice manager but a clinician the receptionist. She explained to me that she had no availability for a few days however if I walked in,I would not be turned away and the doctor would see me. After I waited for an hour or so to be squeezed in (VERY WORTH THE WAIT),I was seen by Dr. McGinty. He was very attentive, knowledgable and I didn't feel rushed. He actually listened to me and gave his recommendation on what specialist would be best for me going forward. I was given referrals and prescriptions and scheduled to return in the near future. This is one small professional and friendly office. I'm very pleased with this experience and I'd highly recommend MIMC. P.S. Please do not be discouraged by the negative post, some people are just hard to please.I guarantee, if you call or visit,it will be pleasant! THANK ME LATER....smile

I filled out a very, very appreciative and detailed review and 'posted' it (per the 'post' button on the form) but it evidently wasn't received there. I recently had my first visit with Dr. Frederick at Hibiscus Medical, and I'm so glad I made the switch. She came highly recommended from a local DC group I'm part of, and from the moment I walked in, I could tell this office was something special. It's beautifully designed--calm, clean, and thoughtfully put together--with the kind of atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. Her staff was friendly, welcoming, and organized, and everything ran smoothly from the moment I arrived. Dr. Frederick was warm, attentive, and truly took the time to listen. I could immediately tell she really cares about her patients' well-being and brings a wealth of knowledge to her care. Parking was surprisingly easy, which is almost unheard of in DC. If you're looking for a new primary care doctor who offers thoughtful, patient-centered care in a peaceful and professional setting, I highly recommend Hibiscus Medical. I'm grateful I found them!
