I'm in my second month of Velocity Boot Camp and enjoying a newfound sense of health and…read morewell-being. My husband and I were feeling a little out of shape and wanted to nip it in the bud before the holidays started up this year. I looked around for a fun and challenging exercise program that would work with our schedule and found Velocity through Yelp. Matt is a great trainer who pushes you to be your best while also remaining gentle and helpful! I've always been worried about my form, so having him there to correct if necessary is clutch. I can really see the changes in my body from about 6 weeks of camp. If you eat clean and attend class every day, you'll see results. Can't wait to enter 2020 with some new foundational health practices. Thanks Matt and VBC for the push!

I've been through a lot of different fitness situations: crossfit, parkour classes, muay thai with…read morea private coach, gym memberships, hiking, and running. I've been seduced by luxurious gyms, exercise trends, and training centers that are 30 minutes from my house. None of them lasted longer than a year. (Well, except for Muay Thai. I can kick your ass.) Why didn't these solutions last long? They were too far, too expensive, too culty, the trainers were too inexperienced and cocky, they didn't happen at times that worked with my life schedule...and so I moved on. So in my experience, one thing matters the most -- will you show up and do the work? I can safely say that with Velocity, the answer is yes. Velocity's greatest strength can be found in its leader, Matt. Matt has the unique quality of being supportive and encouraging without being a tyrant. He is also very precise and knowledgeable -- he'll pop over to tutor you on form, and he inspires you to do a little better each time. The classes tend to be small, so you have plenty of room to work out, and you get all of the attention you need. The exercises we do in class -- usually four rounds of three sets of three exercises each -- hit every part of the body and challenge you to push your limits. Velocity Boot Camp is also very readily accessible. I know that if I wake up at 6:45 and my feet hit the floor at 6:50, that I can be in class at 7am, no problem. Classes take place in a dance studio on Hyperion in Silver Lake. The location is simple but really does the trick, and parking at 7am is easy. The class lasts about 45 minutes, and I'm back home, ready to start my day with an added burst of energy, before 8am. I've been going for about a month, and while I had a good baseline fitness already, I can see changes happening: abs getting tighter, metabolism getting faster, and a general increase in energy level. If you're looking to get fit and stay fit, Velocity Boot Camp has my highest endorsement.

Also, they're not one of those typical boot camps where they scream and yell at you or make you work out even when you're hurt. The type of workouts vary from week to week. My favorites are the ones with the basketball game and obstacles or the resistance band ones. The location of the gym is really convenient to me but since they only have morning, weekday classes, I have to admit I've been quite lazy. I think I attended 7 or 8 sessions out of the 10 that came with the Groupon because I just hate having to get up so early to go work out. Although I have to say once I get there and do the work out, I feel great afterwards. Again, it's just cuz I'm lazy. I normally go once a week or less, the rest of the time, I run at my normal gym but the class that I did attend once a week was a great way to break up my usual boring workouts. I don't know how those ladies who go to class everyday does it though cuz I'm sore by the end of the day, so at most, I'd only be able to do 2x a week. Since it's winter, there is no way I would crawl out of bed when it's so dark outside to go workout, but eventually, I'll get their intro pack (10 sessions for $99 if I recall correctly) and get back into it again. I would totally recommend this place for a supportive and varied workout program.

This review is well overdue. I worked with Jennifer through a program where she is a "Master…read moreTrainer" in a test group for a 60 day workout program. During one of the first sessions she unexpectedly came up behind me and hit my arms up without warning and startled me. I honestly didn't appreciate her touching me so aggressively instead of verbally giving me instructions on the correct placement of my arms and it kind of upset me, but I let it slide. During the training sessions lead by her, she had her written notes that she often referred to and looked at of moves we were supposed to do while instructing us which made me feel she was not prepared for class. About a quarter of the way through the 60 day program another master trainer came in to help her because we were told we weren't getting the weight loss results that were expected. I honestly preferred the other trainer better and got a lot more encouragement and praise from her. Towards the end of the program I was sent an email stating when and where my after pictures and interview were to be held and replied to the email asking if there was any other time or day that I could reschedule since I worked during the time they had put me down for which was in the afternoon on a weekday. I didn't get a reply and when I went to workout the next day I was told I was rescheduled to another time without being consulted with which didn't work for me either because I had a prior engagement that had already been scheduled months in advance and could not miss. When I told Jennifer's coworkers that I only ASKED if the initial interview could be rescheduled because I worked during that time. I also told them if another time wasn't feasible I could request time off, but I didn't want to if it wasn't necessary. I was then told the time slot they took me out of was now filled and since I couldn't make the other time they put me in I was basically S.O.L. I was devastated. I took two months out of my life, literally worked my butt off, had lost nearly 20 pounds, not only did the program workouts everyday, but I also worked out on my own everyday, and was lightheaded a lot of the time because i was hungry, also training for a half marathon and on certain days working out with a celebrity trainer for his online workouts that were filmed. I was working out on some days 3 TIMES A DAY, but we would get threatened that if we didn't get results we would get kicked out of the program. During the time of the program, I was also in a car accident leaving from one of the workouts and had to take the bus to get to the classes just so I wouldn't miss any workouts since my car was in the autobody shop. And I was told at the end "Well you got what you wanted" by one of her coworkers on the program. I literally cried on the way home. Later that night I sent Jennifer an email saying how disappointed I was that I couldn't be involved in the final step of the program and she replied by saying that she felt that I wasn't happy with the process as of lately and good luck on my future endeavors. I was flabbergasted by her response and lack of sincerity. I had dedicated my time and energy to get results and make it through until the end. Nearly blood and literally sweat and tears to insulted like that by her. I asked if she could return my personal clothes that they kept for the after pictures since I wouldn't be participating do to no fault of my own and I never got a response. So now not only has she taken time out of my life, but she and her company also kept my clothes. She also stated to the participants that when the program was over that we would all gain back the weight because the grueling schedule we were doing, there was no way we would maintain it! Not to mention the fact that many participants, who weren't greatly overweight to begin with, were complaining of loose, jiggly skin because they had dropped weight so quickly. She didn't offer maintenance program for the weight loss, but instead I was inundated with spam emails to pay for and take her self defense class. I had to request that she unsubscribe me to her email blasts which I did not sign up for in the first place. . It was a very bad and disheartening experience working with this trainer and after dedicating myself and time for nothing I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
