I have received coaching from Sarah Lynn for over 10 years off and on. I started with fitness and nutritional coaching and was able to institute healthy habits in my daily life that have made a major difference in my health. When she added the wellness component, she was extremely helpful in my journey to get over gastrointestinal issues due to life stress and an unhealthy marriage. Her coaching helped me alleviate my gut issues. I am able to eat onions again! :) And I was able to navigate my divorce from a place of strength and am living my best life! Thank you Sarah Lynn! read more

She's the best. I have been going here for 7+ years. She is so smart and supportive. Thanks for everything Sarah.

Sarah Lynn gives life-changing advice and help to people in need of help in taking control of their health and their lives. It would be impossible to give Sarah Lynn as much thanks as she deserves. read more

Fit Fax is a great little secret that I discovered due to Yelp. And I'm happy to report it lives up to the 5 star reviews. FYI, this review is coming from a 32 year old male. I had an initial 30 minute consultation 8 weeks ago where Sarah measured my body fat with her nifty machine --- a machine that is used by many athletic programs --- and found out the "demographics" of my body. Lean muscle mass, fat mass, body weight, calorie expenditure, etc. She gives you a couple points to focus on each visit. Mine were 200g of protein and less than 40g of sugar. At my follow up last week I had gained more muscle than fat, and more importantly, I feel now I realize better what works for my body and what doesn't. So now, I know what I can (and can't) slack on in terms of my diet. And Sarah is never judgmental, always encouraging --- looking at what you did right, not where you went astray. All in all, a five star recommendation, and I can't weight to update fellow Yelpers on my progress. Slowly, but surely! read more

Sarah Lynn, a fitness instructor, current triathlete and mother is an amazing person with a wealth of knowledge of fitness, nutrition and body mechanics. As a Registered Dietitian who believes that scales and weighing oneself can sometimes do more harm than good, I was a bit reluctant to come in to get my body composition analyzed but Sarah Lynn has a way about her that can make anyone feel at ease. I went to Sarah Lynn because she has a passion not only for fitness and nutrition but for life in general. She believes very deeply in the balance of food/fitness/nutrition and the body/mind which aligns very much with my own philosophy. The InBody 230 has an accuracy level that is nearly impossible to believe considering you stand on the machine for only 1 minute and has no sticky electrodes. It's like standing on an exercise machine (without moving) and voila, you have a readout of your lean mass, fat mass and your body composition and distribution. Sarah Lynn will take the time to explain the full report and if you want, give you nutrition advice. There are few people on earth who are more invested in their own health and who get pleasure from helping others than Sarah Lynn. I don't recommend non-RD's often but this lady knows her stuff! read more

Normally you don't get fast, good, and cheap. However, the body comp analysis provided by Sarah in addition to her in depth knowledge breaks this paradigm in the best way possible: A fantastic body analysis done quickly at a wonderful price. Normally I don't write Yelp reviews; rarely does a business motivate me to go out of my way to go and take my time to post. You owe it to yourself to understand this information about your body and I can't recommend Sarah enough. Just go book an appointment, you won't regret it. read more

I met Sarah through PedalSpin's Fitness Challenge last year, and was so fortunate to have her as a coach through their morning circuit training classes! I had two consultations with Sarah last year, one last week and will be doing a 6 week follow-up soon. I've run the gamut on lots of gyms and lots of trainers; by BMI standards, I've constantly been told that I'm beyond obese and were told to starve myself and been on nutrition programs that included wheat thins, what! The In-Body 230 scanner and talks with Sarah was the first time I ever understood what my body composition was like, what my body needed and what my physical capabilities were. Sarah's just an incredible coach; she's passionate, knowledgeable and beyond encouraging. Last year, with her help, I gained almost 2lbs of muscle in my arm during the Fitness Challenge. In last week's retest, I saw that going to the Nrdfit gym in NoHo, I've gained a pound of skeletal mass in just 6 months! I'm signing up for Sarah's nutrition consultation next week and will report on those improvements in my life! I cannot recommend Sarah and Fit-Fax enough as an ally on your fitness/improved health journey! read more

Sarah was a very pleasant business person as well as a fitness nut/expert which is always great. The visit was short and prompt, but I had a great conversation with her regarding my goals and my current protocols. The facility utilizes an In-Body 230 scanner and if you've seen any demo videos on you tube it shows you, your body density which is important if you want to know whats going on with your body. The scale is not the best means of measure and sometimes tape isn't as well or body pinching. The scanner itself is super accurate, so much so that my body fat percentage was 2% higher than it was than when I did the same test in a hydrostatic environment elsewhere. I was a bit disappointed (more in myself) but excited to know that I have the most accurate means of measuring my progress. And it's local, cheap, and convenient so I can come back bi-monthly for another scan. 20-30 minutes out of my day rather than waiting for a bunch of other people to get dunked or breathing out all of my air while in my spedo's. None of that here, so while you're getting your body density read you can do it comfortably in clothes minus your socks, or in your skivies if you're trying to shed oz's from your final numbers heh. It's all up to you and Sarah makes you feel as comfortable as possible while you're there. She's really a blast to chat with and I look forward to my next visit. read more

Made an appointment with Steve. He was very upbeat and personable. He made me feel very at ease and comfortable. I really needed to get something that was a little more accurate than my Fitbit. I'm addicted to this watch. It keeps me accountable but at the same time it drives me crazy. He asked me a series of questions about my nutrition, my workouts, and my goals. Then we went over the different plans he could offer me. He though the Ketosis diet may be right up my alley so I need to do so research it and give it some thought. Now it was down to the good stuff. I got on the fancy machine and it gave me all of my results. He went over everything with me in great detail to make sure I understood all of my numbers and I was quite please. I will be back for a follow up appointment for sure. read more

My boyfriend sees Sara every couple of months. He had to drag me to finally go too... Honestly, I was very resistant in coming to get my body fat reading. I felt like what was the point? I'm just gonna learn how much fat I have on my body from a fancy machine? Oh man, I learned a life changing lesson.... I've spent thousands of dollars on nutritionists, personal trainers, gyms, private studios, bootcamps, books, DVDs, etc. for 8+years. I'm even gonna be on Beachbody's informercial for their newest workout DVD BodyCombat because I was able to lose 21 lbs in 60 days. I worked as a personal trainer at Equinox. I simply love working out. So I know a thing or two about getting fit. Sara uses the most accurate way of testing body fat. It prints out a detailed assessment of your body composition. But the thing that meant everything to me was when she pointed out how many calories I, ME, not a generic woman, needed to maintain my muscles. She gave me an estimate of how much I could eat while maintaing those muscles and still lose weight.... it was A LOT HIGHER than I thought.... For years, I've tried to force myself to eat ONLY 1200-1300 calories and I wondered why I felt so deprived. Sara explained that it was because I have enough muscles that require more than that magic number I found in books and magazines... and if my body doesn't get the minimum calories, my body will feel deprived. So I asked her "So when I was on my 1200 calorie diet and working out super hard most days...." She jumped in, "Yes you were starving and you most likely lost some muscle mass you had before" ....Now I eat totally within the range she suggested and feel totally satisfied and continue to get in my best shape ever! Nutrition is the bulk of your results, and this really helps you hone in on what YOUR body needs. So go learn what every human should know! You'll love Sara's sunshiney, funny and strong personality . Cant wait for my next visit with my boyfriend!! read more

It happened to me again today. Someone told me that I have lost weight which is normally a longed for compliment. I know that it is not true since I go to WeightWatchers. My neighbor tells me that I am crazy when I shake my head, "no I really haven't lost weight." Yet my body is changing in ways that the scale does not understand which is why l love Sarah Lynn and her Fit-Fax machine. After feeling disappointed by my time at Xterra Malibu Creek Trail Race, I went to Sarah Lynn. She said, "Perfect come in. Let's get a baseline on you. Then see where you are in a few months". I stepped on this nifty gizmo that spit out a complete page of interesting and useful information about my body. Fit-Fax is much cooler than a number on a scale. Of course, Fit-Fax told me things that I already knew such as I am overweight and have high BMI. Then it told me things that I did not know such as my basal metabolic rate, and how much skeletal muscle mass I have. The best part for me was the Segmental Lean Analysis, a picture showing the distribution of my muscle mass. It turns out that I have a normal amount of muscle in my arms and tummy, but below normal in my legs. Curious... I am so glad that I stopped going to WeightWatchers so that I can give Sarah Lynn my $40 instead. Their program is good. It just is not the whole picture. Now when, someone tells me I am losing weight. I thank them and accept the complement. I know that I am doing something to change my body composition even if I am not losing weight. I cannot wait for the next session to see if I have increased muscle mass, just before the Xterra Snow Valley race . read more

Found Fit-Fax through some web searching and I couldn't be more pleased with the service. Sarah Lynn knows what she is talking about. She's got an advanced degree in bio-something (sorry, Sarah, I forgot what it was!), and she is incredibly fit. She knows what's up. The test is professionally administered and Sarah interprets the results so you know what you are looking at. She then gives you a daily calorie recommendation and a macro breakdown. I asked about buying her meal plan and she told me that I had enough knowledge about nutrition that she didn't think it necessary but I could buy it if I wanted. It's refreshing to see honesty put before salesmanship. Even though I didn't buy it, the meal plan looked very cool. She incorporates a lot of Trader Joe's prepared and easy-to-prep stuff so getting your daily #s correct is super-easy. I will be back many times. For me, this is a great way to stay motivated. I like being able to see my numbers (lean mass, fat, water) in an accurate way. If you want to know for sure what your body composition is, go to Fit-Fax and see Sarah Lynn. read more

Sarah is very knowledgeable and professional. The technology is amazing. Fat testing all without the swimming part :)

Take your fitness to the next level! I've been an triathlete for about ten years and recently switched to trail running due to the time constraints of having a family with young kids. I typically finished in the top 20% in most tri's and 10% in running, nothing to be excited about. I met Sarah through the Pasadena Triathlon Club and decided to finally get my body composition tested. The actual testing took only a few minutes, and the rest of the time was spent on reviewing the numbers and setting up a plan to accomplish your personal goals. I've met with nutritionalists before, but what sets Sarah apart is the fact that she is an endurance athlete herself and knows what our needs are. After two months of being on Sarah's program, I've dropped by body fat by 4.6%, increased lean Body Mass by 1.8 lbs and have won my age group in my last two xterra trail races, including a 5 minute PR at a hilly Boney Mt course. The knowledge you gain from Sarah will propel you to the next level and will keep you lean and healthy for the rest of your life. read more

I'm trying to put this as succinctly as possible: finding Fit-Fax was an important part of helping me go from the most out of shape I had been in my life (185 lbs with a bodyfat percentage in the mid 20s) to getting paid gigs as a photography model, with body fat percentage in the low teens and a FFMI index in the top 5-10 percent of guys my height (externally verified using 3rd party scans), getting certified as a USAPL powerlifting coach and going from never having squatted or deadlifted in my life to competing at the regional level, squatting 345, benching 253 and deadlifting 441 lbs in less than a year and a half. *Phew* Do I think everyone is going to get results like that? No, but I can point to several ways in which in Fit-Fax contributed - and over the course of more than a year of coming there for scans, I had nothing but good experiences. Sarah Lynn never tried to force me into a box. She provided guidance, encouragement, testing and analysis that allowed me to harness my strong ambition to get better and to get results that way. I've had difficulty with some other professionals in the field before because some became inflexible ideologues, with an "all or nothing" attitude. Sarah Lynn was the exact opposite - she would look at my goals, suggest a way to handle them, then listen if I had other ideas to see how that could work. Whether I was trying to put on lean mass (e.g. muscle) or lose fat (and specifically fat, not just weight), she was able to help me find ways to get results I liked. Perhaps most importantly, Sarah Lynn is the reason I transitioned out of a cardio only approach to fitness and ended up finding powerlifting (a sport that Sarah Lynn herself had experience setting a deadlift record in, while managing to look movie star good, not unlike Julie Bowen). From watching her interact with other clients as they left before I came in for a scan sometimes, I could see that brought the same warmth, motivation and sophistication to approaching each person individually and that made it easier for me to trust that the process could work. For me, it really has. As a side note, in more than 14 months of testing, Fit-Fax never tried to upsell me on anything. When I got good results with basic retesting, Sarah Lynn basically said "that's working great - keep it up!" and in terms of testing frequency, I actually had to ask her to test me more frequently for my own research purposes. It's kind of funny how in 15 months I went from never having met Sarah Lynn before to asking the announcer to thank her for me as I got ready to bench press at the USAPL West Coast Regional Championships. Now that I am starting to train clients of my own, I look forward to the chance to send those with nutritional difficulties to her so they can benefit from some of the same help that got me here myself. read more

I'm 48 years old and all those things I used to do to lose weight just don't work anymore. Before I went out and bought yet another set of bigger cloths, I thought I'd give this a try. I couldn't be happier. I learned so much from Sarah. I really had no idea how I was defeating myself. I thought I was making healthy choices, but spoiler alert. . . I had no idea how much sugar was hiding in my "healthy" choices!! Cutting sugar and eating more regular, balanced meals has really done the trick. I'm eating more and losing weight. Seriously. Eating more and losing weight. And I still get to enjoy my precious wine! In my first six weeks, I lost 7 pounds of pure fat. I'm fitting into cloths that I haven't been able to wear in more than a year. Five more weeks and I should be right were I need to be, with my focus now being on building more muscle. Highly, highly recommend. read more

I have taken classes from Sarah Lynn at our local YMCA and have always enjoyed her enthusiasm and expertise. She really cares! As a part of the Fit-Fax Body Composition Analysis I had, Sarah Lynn recommended watching the video "The Bitter Truth" with Dr. Robert Lustig. Since watching the video, I threw out everything in our pantry that had high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and will not buy anything that lists HFCS as one of the ingredients. I have since slimmed down without dieting and feel great! read more

Sarah Lynn is one amazing woman. I have always had a passion for nutrition but Sarah is on another level. To be able to have a 40:30:30 conversation with another person who understands is refreshing. She validated my knowledge and also taught me new materials that I can add to my daily regimen. I had my first consultation with Sarah early June 2014 and she has helped me to lose almost a total of 4% body fat. I will be back here again in 8 weeks to do another weigh in. I am currently 11.9% body fat and my goal is to be under 10% and with Sarah's help I know I will reach this goal. read more

I found out about Fit Fax from yelp and I was curious about the body composition. I booked an appointment with Sarah and I am extremely happy with my appointment. Sarah is awesome. She knows her stuff and can explain to you exactly what is going on in your body with the data her nifty machine can read. She also has the professional knowledge in fitness and diet to guide you to reach your goals. Yes, the scale is an average tool, but it does NOT tell you that you have only lost water weight. It also does NOT tell you that you have lost more muscle than fat, in turn depleting your body from exactly what you are wanting to improve. I am excited to meet with Sarah again to see what improvements I have made. She is upbeat, very passionate about helping her clients in any way that she can and I truly recommend her if you are serious about keeping your body healthy and happy!! read more

I've struggled with weight issues my entire life. I've been through extreme ups and downs with my fitness and body image and have learned a lot through the process and the hundreds of hours I've dedicated to researching fitness and nutrition throughout my journey. The last few months I've been extremely dedicated and motivated to reduce my body fat and become more "athletic" again. I've been doing crossfit for a while now and am very happy with the way my overall fitness levels and foundations have improved. Wanting to dial in on my nutrition and training I decided to look for somewhere where I could measure my body composition. I came across the fit-fax page on yelp while looking for a place where I could take a hydrostatic test. I read up on the InBody 230 used by fit-fax and decided it was worth a shot so I scheduled an initial 30 minute consultation with Sarah. I'll be honest, because I opted for the basic 30 min consultation I was expecting to go in, get my results, and having the quick, basic, and redundant conversation I've had with dozens of fitness and nutritional professionals before. Wow was I wrong!!! first of all Sarah is one of the nicest individuals you will ever meet. From the get go I felt like I've known Sarah for years, it was very comforting and you can tell she truly cares and is passionate about what she does and helping others. Most importantly Sarah really knows her stuff, I don't remember the last time I had such a great conversation about nutrition and lifestyle with anyone. She went into very detail discussion about my body composition, it was amazing how she was guessing so many aspects of lifestyle and diet just by asses my body composition. As far as my actual results I was surprised to find that my lean body mass was about 10 lbs heavier than where I assume I'd be so she recommended that I increase my calories and protein intake slightly which has worked great in the 3 weeks since I've seen her. She also has a lot of great recommendations and sources on nutritional information. After visiting Sarah I have even more confidence in myself and know that with her help I can achieve my goals. I can't wait to go back in a week to check my progress and having another conversation with her. Highly recommend Sarah and her team! I've told a few friends from crossfit about her and I'm sure they will not be disappointed. read more
