The store is probably slightly above average for a Boots store with the traditional store offering and a few fragrance counters. I didn't really like the food and drink selection being on the top floor, but the selection overall was again okay and basically the same as most good locations of Boots, albeit slightly smaller than my local Manchester branch. Decent sized store, decent selection in most parts and friendly, helpful staff who can help with local problems, rather than just finding something direct in store. 3*

If you want Lemon Verbena bubble bath or Clarins moisturiser, you'll have to go to Boots flagship store opposite the clock tower. The pharmacist in this branch is friendly and usually has most prescriptions in stock. The thing that's slightly annoying is the constant presence of security guards that watch everyone entering, leaving and browsing around the store. I appreciate they must get a lot of shoplifters and have a job to do - but no girls want to be watched whilst they're buying Lil-lets!

This particular Superdrug branch is small and doesn't stock any cosmetic/beauty products; the name on the front just says 'Superdrug Health' instead of 'Beauty' as on some branches. You'll find basic toiletries and medicines, but no hair products or mascara - unless they've changed it since the last time I went in there. Seems a little pointless to me as they could stick a few of these things in and make money I think. Ah well, still it's a handy store and there is a pharmacy.

The pharmacists are available for personal consultation, if necessary, and there's also a rack of pamphlets with information and answers to commonly asked health care questions. For a pharmacy, there's a wide range of snackables, including crisps, chocolate bars, bags of sweets and healthier oat and granola bars. A chiller contains a few prepared and pre-packaged small meals, like sandwiches, wraps and salads. Other sections include a display rack of travel size items (including hand-sanitizer, my exciting purchase for the day) and a rack of prescription reading glasses. I've never known anyone to buy eyeglasses from a drug store, but they seem to be a staple supply item.

And the girls behind the counter usually play fun pop music. Last time I went it was Amy Winehouse. This time, it was The Ramones and 'Beat on The Brat.' There's all the usual toiletries you need - moisturisers, serums, shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, bubble baths, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc - and a great selection of beauty products from companies like Maybelline, Rimmell and Bourgeois. I just got two new lipsticks and an eye-liner for under a tenner!

It's a proper old-fashioned chemist and pharmacy on Western Road, just into Hove, and not far from Palmeira Square. They know what they're talking about in here. Seems like people busy doing very little who have had good training in ignoring customers. No imagination used to cut waiting times. 3) Why on earth did they close the 2nd local chemist. Although it may seem a bit of a pain that its lost its relatively central location, they offer a free prescription delivery service here, so it may still be worth popping down to see if it can be of help in the future if you are struggling to do so yourself. The people here are friendly, and the clean clear design makes it easy to find your way around and locate what your searching for, even with a throbbing hangover...

Superdrug at Churchill Square is one of three Superdrug branches in Brighton centre, alongside…read morestores on Western Road and in the Railway Station, it is by far the biggest and best branch, located in a rather central location in Churchill Square Shopping Centre, that however isn't saying it is a fantastic store though, it is just the best of the rest, kind of like saying Liverpool were the best of the rest after City in the Premier League, that doesn't mean they're getting a trophy. I called in here to pick up a few drinks with the selection at the Western Road store being diabolical, the selection here was slightly better with multiple fridges, however, most of which seemed to include either water or coca cola branded beverages, I presume Superdrug now have some form of deal with Coca Cola as it seems they've removed all other rivals such as Lipton Iced Tea (which I used to like) and Pepsi. I decided to pick up a Fanta Zero, having previously acquired a coupon. The staff member at the till rudely questioned whether it was still valid, and looked at it like she'd never seen a coupon before, she even questioned it with another member of staff, when it was indeed valid. This is pretty understandable, but no apology and making me feel like a criminal for using a coupon is not good service at all. They did have a satisfactory product range in regards to most other products. Poor customer service and handling of coupons, issues with the selection of drinks (the Fuze tea they have used to replace the Lipton iced teas here are also around 40% more than they sell for in supermarkets including the Co-op with the multibuy offer only making the price average) 2* - Slightly generous rating, mainly down to it being the better branch in the city and okay in some, albeit few areas.

This particular branch in the Churchill Centre however, always gives me a headache. The lights are always on full beam like I'm about to be strip-searched and interrogated for something I haven't done. And don't ask me why, but they either don't like using air con or they always have it switched to warm. Tropical heat might encourage some customers to stock up on sun lotion, after sun and flip-flops. It just makes me head for the door!

Last year, I suffered intensely at the hands of a dental abcess. It had been causing me grief for a couple of days, but then I woke up at my girlfriend's screaming one morning. I scrambled for paracetamol. It did nothing. I needed some serious heavy-duty painkillers. Fortunately, this pharmacy was at the end of the road. I sprinted down there in a dressing gown, burst through the doors and strode up to the counter, where I was greeted with smiles by the pharmacists. Although I couldn't close my mouths, and my words were punctuated with groans, they were able to discern the problem and prescribed me some Codeine mixed with Ibuprofen to reduce the swelling and utterly numb all of my nerves. They also gave me all the advice I needed about what to avoid doing to remedy my ailment, and not drive or cycle whilst doped up to the eyeballs, which was considerate. Whatever your malady, I can't recommend these people more highly.

As you would expect, the place is a full dispensing chemist, but they also sell a range of toiletries, health items and hair products. You will find that there is a mark up on such items, compared to a super market, but you have to expect this from an independent business that clearly will do less trade. This still makes it a handy resource if you run out of toothpaste or just need a few items. They don't have a late night opening, so make sure to swing by during regular business hours.
