I had a difficult time finding car insurance on my own, and Stephen made finding it quick and easy. I was able to get car insurance over the phone at a great price. I will definitely come back again for any of my insurance needs. He was very patient and easy-going. Very pleasant to talk to about what I needed. read more

Super nice and helpful guy. My insurance rates went up this year so I gave Stephen a call. He examined my current policy and gave me some suggestions in addition to explaining all the recent changes in the insurance industry for me. A+ customer service experience. read more

I reached out to Steven to possibly save on my insurance. He was honest, professional, and a great guy. I would definitely recommend him and give him a chance. Thank you! read more

My daughter just used Stephen B. Groton services, and she was very happy with the savings he provided. The best part? There was no fees or charges because he gets paid by the insurance company. He saved her a good amount of money by finding her a lower priced car insurance relative to Mercury that she was using. Thx! read more

Stephen is a ROCKSTAR insurance agent. I had a particularly tricky home insurance situation where my awful previous home insurance provider declined to renew me because of a claim that was largely due to their negligence (long story). The renewal date was coming up soon but the claim was still open--so most carriers wouldn't even look at it. This was a very difficult home to insure, despite being in great condition and in a neighborhood free of hazards. He managed to navigate an increasingly difficult California insurance environment (a few major carriers just up and left the market during my home insurance saga) to get me a new policy that while more expensive that what I previously had, was far cheaper than what other agents had offered prior to contacting him. A lot of my friends need new home insurance polices because their carriers are leaving the state, so I send them all to Stephen! read more

Found Stephen through Yelp a few months back. Decided to wait until my policy was ending to reach out to him. Big mistake, should've just cancelled my policy and went directly to him. Got a new policy today with his help. He helped me with my SR22 car insurance. It was the cheapest I've ever seen! He was very informative, quick, and is just an all-around great guy. Will definitely be coming back to him for any other insurance policies. Definitely recommend! Thanks again Stephen! read more

Very kind and helpful and knowledgeable. If he can't help you, he'll refer you to someone who can. I appreciated that.

Very friendly guy who I felt I could trust. It didn't feel like he was trying to push me toward any particular company. It genuinely felt like he just wanted to help you find the best deal. He even said it might be best to stick with my current insurer. read more

Stephen has been a huge help to us! Finding coverage in the weirdness of California fire coverage hasn't been easy but Steve makes it much more pleasant. Very quick communication by both email and phone. Even follow ups after the devastating Eaton Fire he has been very quick to help. read more

Stephen is a ROCKSTAR! Although I ended up not using his expertise to get my insurance updated, he was super helpful in guiding me when shopping around for a great fit. Stephen returned my call after I left him a VM and explained at length what the best course of action is for me. Instead of being overtly concerned about earning my business, he was genuine and eager to help me find the best course of action. It's hard to find someone with so much integrity and honesty these days! But hey, Stephen makes up for it in volumes!! read more

The insurance market in California is very complicated right now. Stephen generously spent a lot of time with me via phone explaining my options and also offering to point me in other directions even if that meant that he would not receive a commission from me. I greatly appreciated his expertise and honesty. read more

Steve helped me to settle a fantastic home and landlord insurance rate with Mercury. In our initial call, Steve took his time with me to understand my situation from a professional perspective. He then compares the rates from multiple insurance providers including Progressive etc. and found the best coverage & rate for us -- in our case it's the Mercury. The followup communication with Steve is also productive and easy. The deal was settled through multiple e-mails. If you are a home owner or landlord, I'll highly recommend Steve as your broker -- he puts customer's interests first, which is a rear virtue these days. read more

I found Stephen on Yelp and reached out for a quote for a higher risk, college student driver. He called me right away and spent a long time going through options and explaining the California insurance market. We are in a unique situation as we (parents) are out of state, so I'm still looking at options, but I would absolutely recommend Stephen. His advice and knowledge are invaluable. read more

Steve is one of the rare people that not only *really* understands his craft, but excels at making personal relationships and paying it forward. It still stuns me that insurance agents can sell people policies they are not even eligible for (!)... though with Steve's thoroughness, I sincerely doubt that would happen from a policy he wrote. He spent an hour on the phone with me to discuss something that he admitted he probably wouldn't be able to help much with, but shared a wealth of information in the process. Who does that anymore? read more

I found this office through Reddit as i was looking for an agent to talk to and get a quote. Stephen was highly recommended and despite me being good 30 miles from this office, i decided to give this agent a call. During initial call, i spent around 30 min talking to him as he explain to me that current market for both Auto and Home is extremely hard and even getting a quote will be challenge despite having a clean driving record and no home claims. I had few more talk with Stephen after initial call and he recommended that i call another agent that he thought might be able to help as he wasn't able to find anything good for me. I took his advice and gave that office a call. He was right, they were able to help and i was able to purchase insurance through them. I recommend this agent to everyone and if he can't help you, he will give you someone else that will be able to help. read more

If you are looking for someone that still believes in customer service, Steve is your guy. My wife and I have a difficult home insurance situation since we live in California and Steve really worked hard to help us resolve it. The communication was outstanding ! Stephen responded immediately and continued staying in touch by email and by phone all the way through our review of house insurance policy options and after buying a policy to make sure I was comfortable with the purchase. He even walked me through the final purchase while he was out of town on his vacation. He had extensive knowledge of house insurance policies and was both professional and personable. read more

Can't say enough about Stephen, and I'm not even using him for my insurance needs. He was quick to reply to my general inquiry about wishing to switch insurance coverage and providers. I had sent out 3 requests to varying agencies, but decided to go with Stephen because his email reply was friendly, informative, and approachable. I provided the requisite information and he was immediately on the job. He kept me in the loop at least once if not twice a day, just to let me know that there was progress being made. And within 48 hours he had the information available for me to review. Perhaps due to the nature of my home / auto requirements, Stephen felt that I was better serviced by a different agent. He transferred me over to the care of a colleague of his, making sure all details were sorted through. He got nothing out of the work and effort that he had already put in, except for perhaps professional satisfaction. This really built implicit trust. So although I am not going through Stephen for my insurance needs (by his own advice and recommendation, because I could get better serviced elsewhere), I cannot recommend him more given the experience that I've had with him. He's definitely one of those professionals that you keep in your records for safekeeping for future reference. I certainly know that I'll be happy to refer him my own friends/family as needed. read more

Stephen really helped me understand insurance and what type of coverage I need. He didn't try to upsell anything. It was my first time trying to figure out insurance and he clarified so much! If you want someone honest, kind and knowledgeable to help you get the best insurance, I highly recommend Stephen. read more

I was having a really hard time even getting a quote from some insurance companies given their underwriting turnaround times. Steve eliminated the headache, found me the lowest rate, and made things a hell of a lot easier! Nice guy and easy to work with. I'll definitely be back. read more

I contacted Stephen when I was searching for auto insurance after a recent move to California. He's extremely knowledgeable and spent a lot of time helping me navigate the intricacies of auto insurance here. I looked up home insurance agents last week and came across Stephen's name. I sent him an email at night requesting a quote. He called me the next morning and spoke with me for a long time trying to help me even though it was clear his company could not give me what I am looking for. He gave me a few suggestions and finally the name of someone he felt might possibly help. Turns out the referral worked and I will be saving 2/3 of what I was paying for home owners insurance. Thank you Stephen! read more

HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE! I am from Oregon and my two kids both moved to Pasadena for work. They both needed to switch over to a California Health Insurance policy. I (dad) very much needed (and received) help and advice from Steve to guide me through this ever complicated maze of which policy would be the best fit for my kids. Steve gave me a lot of his valuable time and really helped me out. I highy recommend Steve for your ALL insurance needs. THANK YOU STEVE!!!! read more

Stephen is absolutely the best. He explained me the small font details that i have no idea existed. He told me about All available choices of auto and home owner policies and took time to write several long emails to answer all my questions and beyond. He gave me better understanding of how things work and what the best strategy to take. Stephen outlined all my options including multiple direct insurance providers that are not available to purchase through an independent agent like himself. Surprisingly altruistic approach of a true professional. read more

After years of easy and quick service, I'm confident that Steve is one of the best options as far as insurance goes. When I first met with Steve to move my car insurance I had an accident on my record. As a young driver this severely limited my options. Still, Steve was able to find me a reliable company for a great rate that I used over the next few years with no problems. Recently when Steve and I spoke again, he brought up the opportunity of switching me over to the company that I had originally wanted but that hadn't been realistic when we'd first met. One phone call later and not only did he deliver on this but he got me a lower rate than my original. He's truly an insurance broker with your best interests in mind. I can't recommend him highly enough. - Alex read more

I am not going to tell you anything the other reviewers haven't already. I called Stephen because of his positive reviews on YELP, and the reviews were spot on. Great guy to talk to, TON of knowledge, doesn't blink an eye to send you in a direction that will make him ZERO commission, but still may be the best route for you and your insurance needs. read more
