I think I might have had some petit mal seizures but I do t really know. I only know that my husband got scared yesterdat as he said I had periods of delirium, blank stares and then what really scared him were pretty significant body twitches. Calling Brian Mausser - the pa I got from my inpatient hopital- accused me of lying , refused to help me in anyway( I first asked if my husband could sign something saying he was legally responsible for this script - but as he said absolutely not and I he, again , said I was lying- I asked for anti- seizure medication which he promptly refused to discuss. I was able to take a bit of some leftover clonazapan and my withdrawal feelings and body twitches ( oh- and objects around me had started to twitch- reslly weird) . He knew I had some remaining from my last psychiatrist - who I had received a 20+ years of pyschiatric care ( we moved) and said as I weaned myself of in those-- say 7 days - I was safe from withdrawals after using this drug for 20+ years- at my highest I was on 4 mgs a day. My psychiatrist and I managed to get me down to 2 a day. At inpatient they continued giving this to me- So - now I am sitting on my bed, getting some withdrawal, waiting for a seizure . I was informed by a mental health advocate that 7 days was by no means long enough and should absolutely be doctor monitored- they begged me to go to the er but as I had taken a small amount of clonazapan there were no withdrawal symptoms at the time. So I wait. Do not go to this group- at least not in the Beachwood office in Ohio. I'm scared right now. But have this only option of waiting ( I am trying to find a new psychiatrist- however most won't see me for months)

I ended up seeing another physician who re-diagnosed me and provided the appropriate treatment mode. When I got to the point of seeing the other physician, I could not speak, form a sentence, think clearly, had temporary amnesia, shook and had medication induced bradychardia and was rushed by ambulance to the closest hospital. I am completely fine now and take no medication at all. At one point, she had me on 8 different medications. I think she looked at me as a "cash cow" because she couldn't figure out what the exact problem was. She almost cost me my LIFE!

I finally got an appointment and drove four hours to adjust my medication after repeated anxiety attacks. When i arrived they said they accidentally scheduled me for the following week. I explained i drove four hours and they basically told me too bad and call the management to see if i could get in the next day with anyone. I called management three times over three days & no one has returned my call after five days. They don't care about your wellbeing. They can't schedule properly - assuming you can ever get through. Pass on this place please & go literally anywhere else.

They…read moreare some of the rudest, most dismissive, most condescending group of employees you will ever find at an inpatient psychiatric facility. They frequently would ignore quite hours by being loud themselves and would not enforce those rules when broken by other patients. Sleep was hard to come by for my 5 days. There was supposed to be gym time as well each day and out of my 5 days only 1 of those they took patients to the gym, which is apparently in disrepair. I was not woken up for the gym time that did occur. So there was no physical activity beyond pacing. If you are trans like I am, request another facility. My deadname was frequently spoken aloud and put on the white board for all the patients to see. My actual name was put in quotation marks " " not even parentheses ( ) which would have been marginally more respectful. Just getting an electric razor was a hassle until I got in touch with the patient advocate. I came away having gotten what I needed from that place but I never wanna go back.

Not having a psychiatrist and being so close to my home, I decided to stop in and check it out. What I found was different from a traditional doctors office. I met Dr. Turell the psychiatrist and owner of the practice who runs the place. There was old vinyl records playing and a comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Turell was very friendly and welcoming. I set up an initial appointment where he asked me a lot of questions to get to know me and then prescribed me medication. After a few appointments he introduced me to a service he had available for depression called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) which I had never heard of. Being resistant to many psychiatric medications I decided to give it a try. Dr. Turell was very helpful and professional throughout the sessions I've had with him. I definitely recommend Strive Mental Health and Wellness to anyone in the Cleveland area looking to tryout TMS or get involved in wellness programs he has to offer.

I thought his evaluation was very fair. In addition, he gave me some excellent advice on dealing with stress and provided me information on the long term effects of drinking while taking an anti-depressant that probably saved my life if I'd continued doing what I was doing. I know Dr. Kaplan has received a very negative review but I'd be willing to bet that's from an employer who lost a discrimination or harassment case and had to pay damages based partly on Dr. Kaplan's evaluation. In my case, me and my previous employer both benefitted from Dr. Kaplan's evaluation because he was able to diagnose acute anxiety related to the actions of my supervisor but Dr. Kaplan felt I would not have long-term issues because I was so open to appropriate treatment and because I had a strong support system at home. In the end, the settlement I received was irrelevant when compared to the control I took back over my life with Dr. Kaplan's help.
