Dr Preston retired a number of years ago so this is not a review as much as it is a remembrance. I…read morefeel compelled to add this because of the entitled princess Jennifer D. that wrote the scathing remarks without any history with the Drs. Preston or knowledge of their immense contribution to the community. So let me set the record straight. Both Drs were part of Doctors Without Borders and regularly served in third world countries helping impoverished and marginalized people all over the world. Bill Preston in fact died during one of these missions. Rebecca Preston was always passionate about passing her knowledge and experience on to the next generation of physicians, however patients were always asked if it was ok for the students to be involved with their care. Students repeat the same questions because that's how they learn. I was happy to help the process but perhaps Jennifer should have opted out if she was in such a hurry. Rebecca also steadfastly refused the corporate scheduling model (which allocates no more than 20 minutes per patient) giving each her full attention and not glancing at her watch. I would trade a 30 minute wait for a thoughtful consultation any day. I don't know where you go for medical care now, Jennifer, but a 30 minute wait seems about average anyway. And most importantly, when I was a single mom with no health insurance and working a collection of part time jobs to keep food on the table, Rebecca took care of me. She called it a "sliding scale" but she assured me that I should pay only when it was comfortable for me to do so. She never made me feel like a charity case or less than. I know she did the same for many others, including helping out at BEDS (our local homeless shelter). She took little interest in her appearance because there were far more important things on her mind. Like helping the homeless. NOT JOKING!!

Stay away! This is a Podunk little office. This doctor ALWAYS has student doctors there and you…read morehave to sit and wait forever and then you have to sit in a room and be asked THE SAME QUESTIONS every time by these students and waste your time. It takes forever to see the doctor. She seems to care more about these students then you as a patient. I've had my time wasted so much there. Literally waiting in an office for 30 minutes. They are rude on the phone and act like they are doing you a favor. The doctor's husband was a doc and he was obese and dropped dead from a heart attack. QUALITY DOCTORS. Just the amount of your time they waste and then their attitude is a joke. Find another better doctor. Oh, and the doc looks like she's homeless. NOT JOKING!

Ladies. If you are looking for an OB-GYN and you don't mind the drive to Hinsdale, Dr. Spencer has…read moreto be one of the best. I needed a new doctor and after asking several women friends, and my internist, for a recommendation, Dr. Spencer's name kept rising to the top of everyone's list. Practicing as part of the Women's Health Care in Hinsdale, Dr. Spencer's style and simple explanations help make each appointment less stressful and more informational which certainly helps as you manage your health. If you are a new patient, she will sit with you prior to your appointment (and with all your clothes on! Yay!) to better understand you, your needs and why exactly you have come to her. Talk about a small world. While we were doing this "get to know you" session, it turns out that we grew up in Michigan within blocks of each other and even went to the same schools! I am constantly amazed at how people's lives intersect! But that's another story for another day. The office staff is efficient and do what they say they will do when they say they will do it. They are also committed to making sure you understand any of the tests you may be having or the results from that test explained to you. While I may be a bit biased toward women doctors as they too live in bodies like mine each and every day, Dr. Spencer won my trust with her knowledge, "bedside manner" and just overall being someone that I'd like to hang around with. And I don't say that about all the health professionals in my life!

Dr Spencer is extremely kind and is very good at making patients feel comfortable. However, she…read morelacks one key component, she only listens to an extent. I have a family history or endometriosis and was basically told I have it but never took the test. I am now prepared to hear the results and she will not do the test. She tested for other things and found both growths and cysts but keeps saying everything is normal. I am suffering debilitating pain.. this is not normal. All she wants to do is give me both control which has never worked before. I find myself once again in search of a doctor that is going to listen to me and take the time to find out what is really going on.

I've been a patient here for about 20 years. They have some good doctors, but the referral…read moredepartment has made it impossible to get any kind of specialist care. It has always been difficult, and blame has been consistently placed on my insurance company. It has gotten especially bad over the last couple years. I have a genetic disease that affects every bodily system, so I require a lot of referrals. Lately it seems the department just does not want to deal with me. Calls go un returned, repeatedly. So I have taken to stopping by unannounced to get things done. I am unable to maintain my weight, and am not being taken seriously. Referrals get faxed to the wrong number, so.e have the wrong phone number, and I get random referrals to places that have nothing to do with my care. I am also recently being asked to give names of doctors I want to see. That is their job, not ours as the patients. Then when I do get names, that I select based on knowledge of my condition,I get told they are out of network, and that I have no out of network care. That didn't sit right with a rare genetic disease, so I called my insurance, who stated that is false, for cases like mine, I absolutely can request out of network care. I've gone in person 2x in as many weeks, because the week prior I saw the dr, and attempted to get 2 referrals, and nothing was done with it. Phone calls placed to insurance, and was told what site the referral department should use to find me care. I called and left a voicemail with this info for referral department. After the week, I hear nothing, so I went in person. She had to rifle through several stacks of papers to find mine. It had literally sat all week with nothing being done. She then faxed the referrals, and gave me copies. I went to make the appointments, and one had the wrong fax number, so that office never got it, and the other had the wrong phone number. I went back today, and it was the same thing. As it turns out, its not just that I'm a complicated case. My coworker just started going here, and is already switching doctors again because of the referral department. Today when I arrived she was on the phone with another patient, asking them if they had the phone and fax numbers for their specialists. Again. This is not our job, its literally what she is paid for! They need a new referral lady. I really don't want to switch doctors, due to my complex issues, but it looks like I have to. I can not keep waiting. I'm already underweight, And have had to reduce my hours at work due to lack of energy, and an active job. I take the day to focus on trying to nourish my body. Honestly, things aren't looking good for me, and I feel like no one cares.
