I have been lucky enough that my more than average need for a podiatrist has lead me to some amazing doctors, leaving me with no fears of the feet! This is one of those places. Recently, my son became having issues with one of his toes and they got us in within a few days with no fuss. They were so kind to my kids and made sure my son was comfortable before even touching his foot. Back in 2021 when we were still struggling with COVID, I was going through chemo. It had the unfortunate side effect of destroying my feet. My oncologist was worried I'd get an infection or hurt myself if my toe nails were not addressed immediately. I found this place and after I explained the situation, they made a slot for me. They could have easily made me wait or told me to go elsewhere, but they made the time for me. The doctor was so patient and understanding, the procedure was painless and I left feeling like I was truly cared for during my time in their office. My husband has been a patient for years and had a foot surgery here. He's been following up ever since with favorable results. I recently visited for the first time, yesterday. I have been having sporadic pain at the top of my left foot and on my achilles. Clean looking office, adequate parking, and the public bathroom was clean and looked well stocked with soap, paper towels and tissue. My appointment was for 10:30. I didn't have to wait in the waiting room very long. (I didn't even have time to finish the paperwork ) The staff and front desk personnel were very friendly and professional. He greeted me and listened to all my symptoms and asked about other health issues and medications. He did some probing of my feet checking flexing, range and strength. Along with balance and range. He gave me a possible reason for the pain and some suggested daily stretching exercises (at least 10 min) and techniques that I could try to increase the flexibility. He explained stretching would help balance my weight and would allow the muscles and joints in my feet to do their individual job instead of trying to do two different jobs. He further suggested some inserts (not orthotics) to help with my balance so pressure is better distributed. He suggested I do this for two weeks and see if the pain dissipates and then follow up with him in a month. read more

From the moment I called I had amazing customer service with the front desk secretary Danielle, she was very kind and attentive when I explained my issue to her. By the phone call I knew I was directed to the right place and was able to get an appointment the same day. Switched from High Desert Foot and Ankle to Step Forward Foot and Ankle due to High Desert's new scheduling processes and length of time to get an appointment. Called Step Forward on a Thursday, got an appointment for Friday morning. Dr. Shahram Askari was wonderful. Explained the biomechanics of my problem. Took the time to explain all the options. A bit more expensive; however, well worth it. Wonderful experience from the phone call to reception (Danielle), to the clinical support, to Dr. Askari. Very happy. dr Peter Awad and his Medical assistant Jessica were one of the best, friendly, professional, and overall greatest health care experiences i even had in my life. I had an ingrown nail before about three years ago. Didn't get the opportunity to see an actual Doctor because of the INCOMPETENCE of those 2 INEPT individuales. What I gathered from both Laura and Michelle is that there was no fear of whovere supervised them because they came off with the attitude of "what is the Office manager going to do". I was supposed to have surgery to fix my bunion on my right foot 11 years ago, and I kept constantly putting off the surgery. Life got busy and surgery was pushed to the back burner. By late 2013 and early 2014, I was in so much pain even in my most comfortable shoe; I couldn't handle suffering anymore. In March, I went in for my first consultation with Dr. Crismali and was immediately impressed with him and his staff. Every time I have ever called, his office staff are always friendly and helpful. Within about two months I was able to coordinate my schedule to have the surgery. I was very grateful they were so flexible in helping me pick a good date for my surgery so I could coordinate around my work schedule as well. During each consultation and pre op visit, he very thoroughly explained the procedure and everything I should expect from the surgery. By the day of surgery, nothing felt as a surprise because Dr. Crismali was incredibly thorough in his explanation. My recovery went really well. Again, because Dr. Crismali was so wonderful about helping me understand what the surgery entails and the recovery process, nothing came as a surprise. I followed all his orders exactly as he told me for my recovery, and it truly makes a difference. I limited as much activity as I could off my foot during my recovery and now that I'm nearly 5 months post op, I feel like a brand new person. I haven't felt any pain in my foot in quite some time. Most days I don't even think about my foot anymore, whereas before I was constantly aware of a very painful bunion on my foot. I've now been able to go to Disneyland and walk around an entire day without bunion pain. Just this last weekend, I was able to take a 2+ mile hike with my family while we were camping in Julian. That is something I would not have thought possible at the beginning of this year! Dr. Crismali is one of the best doctors I have ever met. I feel he truly cares for me as his patient and as a person. By my last visit, I felt like I was chatting up with a friend instead of sitting down with my doctor. He's passionate about what he does, and it shows every time you speak with him. He really does want his patients to feel better and resume a regular life again without pain. I would recommend anyone who has problem with their feet to see Dr. Crismali. He and his office staff are the best of the best; you won't ever regret having Dr. Crismali help you live pain free! read more

This update showed a vast improvement from my initial visit. Dr. Awad actually called me personally to find out if I had the MRI done that he requested I did and he was surprised now I'm not sure the miscommunication lies but I pretty much lay the blame with Dr Charmaine Earle's office, but's that's another review. Took me awhile to get in here, as they were quite booked up. But this place and the doctor are totally worth it. After a quick exam, the doctor diagnosed my condition. I had some insoles made, which have worked great. He also gave me some awesome suggestions on footwear selection that have practically resolved my issue completely. I've been a patient at Crismali Foot & Ankle for about 3 years. Staff is usually great as are the doctors. I've followed the doctor's recommendation to purchase their anti-fungal products for years and even though I've seen little to no improvement, I continued to purchase them. On my last visit to purchase (Nov. 2019), I was informed that they now sell a new product that is more expensive than the previous product ($59 vs $35) and that they no longer carry the previous product. This new product has had wonderful results, according to office staff, so it justified the change. Being skeptical but open, I decided to purchase it and try it out. I patiently waited for roughly 20 minutes while they tried to figure out the new code to ring me up for the new product. Finally finding it, they charged my credit card for $59 and I went on my way. A week later, I received a bill in the mail for $4.72. I called Crismali's office on 11/4/19 to inquire about the charge. Michelle informed me that the bill was for taxes, which were not charged when I purchased the product. Considering the more expensive product and the wait time involved in purchasing it, I relayed to Michelle that I found it to be in poor taste to backcharge the tax portion and asked if it could be waived. She kindly informed me that she'd have to reach out to her supervisor to see if it was possible to waive the bill. She assured me that Valerie would call me back. As of 11/12/19, I had not received a call back so I reached out to their office again. This time, I spoke to Jennifer, who shared that she is a supervisor. Jennifer pulled up my account and shared that although it's unfortunate that her staff made an error in not charging the tax, I was nonetheless responsible for paying it. I replied that in consideration for the hurdles I've experienced in purchasing this product, I was hoping that they would waive it out of appreciation for the situation. Jennifer sighed in discontent that were wasting time over $4.72 to which I agreed and added that the experience had led me to conclude that not only should I discontinue using their products, I would also discontinue using their services as I felt that her dismissive demeanor was one that I did not care to further patronize in part or in whole. Jennifer shared that she was ok with that decision and it's my prerogative to go elsewhere if I chose to, but I was still responsible to pay the outstanding bill. I finalized our call by stating that I will gladly pay the $4.72 with the understanding that I'd take my business elsewhere and that she would share my displeasure with the Crismali's. She agreed that she'd relay my displeasure and we ended the call. Less than 5 minutes later, I received a call from Michelle informing me that the outstanding bill had been waived by their office some time ago (unbeknownst to me) and apologized for not having received a call from her office to advise me of the waived bill. Why Jennifer had not caught that when she pulled up my account (which she specifically said she was doing so that she could check the notes on the account) is beyond me. I thanked Michelle for the call and voiced my displeasure over Jennifer's handling of our call, which all but assured that I would not be back. My sincere hope is that staff would be trained to handle these situations with a bit more care. It's a shame that they've lost a patient over a molehill that became a mountain.
