She Rocks and makes you feel welcome from the 1st second. She is extremely friendly but also very thorough in knowing her gig. We told Alma and the office staff my husband is covered by his work's private insurance and Medicare Part A and B, but they continued to charge us co-pays and we keep paying. We emailed proof of our Medicare card, but they insisted we did not have Medicare. We felt as seniors we were taken advantage. read more

We went there for many weeks of physical therapy over the last few years. Although I do believe that, technially, Eric is a competent therapist, I didn't like his passive-aggressive attitude. I saw him being very chatty with some people, but others (such as myself) he was often aloof and snarky. That is my personal experience and how I felt when I left his establishment. Over time, it became more and more apparent when his acted disengaged when I tried to converse with him. It became very awkward over the last few times I saw him. I had originally referred people to him, but not anymore. He was nice at the beginning, but I never knew how he was going to act as time went on. Others told me they also felt it. The feeling I was left with, at the end of the therapy, there was an uncomfortable awkwardness and honestly... a feeling of judgement. Weird, right? I'm not a kid, and I've seen a lot of ill- mannered people over the years. I work in a customer service industry myself. I just don't have time or space for it anymone. You know, when someone is paying thousands of dollars and with full health insurance (gosh, insurance really sucks these days, doesn't it??) it's just not worth it to be left with that feeling when you leave an appointment. No matter how good they are at what they do. Customer service and a good attitude is tantamount to someone's proficiency. He's not the only PT in Burbank. Believe me, there are plenty more. We found a wonderful one recently, who is amazing! I wonder how many others felt like me? On a lighter note, Alma and his other staff were always very friendly and always a joy! read more

I developed pain in my right knee and hip, and was prescribed physical therapy at Step Ahead PT. Having been sedentary for most of my adult life, exercise was not usual for me. I was motivated by pain. I have had a great experience at Step Ahead PT. Michael De Angelis, my Therapist, was very knowledgeable, easy to talk with, and answered my questions. He evaluated my situation and my arthritic knee. He did soft tissue mobilization, choosing exercises to make me stronger and more stable. The Aides, Mia, Mirasol and Austin explained the stretches and exercises, pointing out better form. More were added as I went along. I felt well taken care of. And I have made real progress. The people at Step Ahead PT are friendly, and do a good job. Alma sets up the appointments, which you can arrange according to your needs and the availability of your therapist. I fell down a flight of stairs in August because I was trying to check something on my phone as I descended. I missed a step, and was too distracted to catch myself, so I fell... hard. I sprained my ankle pretty badly and could barely walk. I typically walk or run on a daily basis for exercise, so my doctor referred me to Step Ahead to be sure my ankle healed properly. My physical therapist was Cole Manoukian who was friendly and helpful at every appointment. He gave me a set of exercises that I believe made a real difference, and we adjusted my visit schedule as my sprained ankle started to improve. The one thing I love about businesses like this is that the team is super helpful and up-front with everything. I came in with a torn labrum after a snowboarding injury and, while it won't be 100% without surgery, Eric and the team got me back to 90% within a couple of months. First, I really enjoyed my sessions and I started to see improvement every time I visited. Though, my therapist did not seem to have a consistent pattern of treatment. Sometimes he worked on me and sometimes he didn't. Sometimes I felt like he was too busy to give me 3-5 mins of his time. When I reached 25 days of therapy, the woman in the front desk told me the insurance might not pay any more. I have a 60 visit limit according to my policy. She said she would call the insurance to get more visits authorized and let me know if the insurance approved more visits for me or not. She said she would let my therapist know what was going on and tell him to call me. It has been 2 months and I have not received a single call from them!!!! I got a bill with a description that did not making any senses at all. Also, when my therapist went on vacation, the substitute therapist did not really care if I was there and did not give half of the attention or care that he gave to other patients. I was really disappointing by the substitute therapist. Also parking near the office is difficult. There is a public parking lot a block away but don't park too close to the charging stations. I parked one space away from the charging station in a space that was not marked as a charging space and got a parking ticket for parking at charging station. read more

First thing I noticed when I went in here? Amazing Environment! I am not talking about how it is decorated or what is on the walls etc... The interaction between Eric Ziegler (the PT) and the patients was incredible. A great place to work out your injuries and WANT to get better. Anyway I was referred here by a Dr. for shoulder injury from surfing. Apparently the doc didn't check it out as thoroughly as he should have. I got here, sat down with Eric and within a half hour he told me that I had more of another injury as opposed to the other one I was told I had. He said that my shoulder was strong and that I didn't need to be at PT, so he was surprised it was even recommended. Anyway I had a great experience here. I would go back a again (if I needed it) and I would absolutely recommend this place to others. Eric paid me to say that he's the most handsome physical therapist in the colonial states --but he didn't have to. KIDDING! (He didn't pay me or ask me to write this.) Seriously, I'm a unique patient. There aren't many women drummers, and not many who play and record all styles, including METAL \m/. Eric steadily relaxed my fears as he brought my shoulder to what he promised. He taught me how to keep it solid and educated me on ways I'd been unbalanced by showing me each time I was protecting it as if it was still injured. These things have been invaluable going forward. With this new 125% shoulder power, my drumming is steadier than ever, and I find I have more choices with patterns. In 7 months I was back in the studio drumming a metal tune with people from Dio and Yngwie. The friendly, light hearted atmosphere of Step Ahead, the clean well equipped space, no pain parking, nice neighborhood, and loving staff made the effort to heal smooth and easy. 10/10 would not want to get hurt again even to hang with Eric! I am so happy that I went to Step Ahead Physical Therapy. I had a few injuries and they helped me with all of them! The top of my wrist got hit hard by a door knob and the tendons were frayed causing a huge mass to appear that was bigger than a golf ball. I also had chronic knee pain and swelling, trigger finger and a deteriorating wrist. After 10 months of physical therapy the mass on my hand has completely gone away, my knee is stronger than ever and no longer swells, my trigger finger is gone letting me now completely close my hand, and my wrist is strong to pick up everyday items. My therapist was Eric and he was patient, very knowledgeable, and kind. He setup a plan for me to address all my issues. The exercises he gave me, the wrapping of ligaments after my sessions, and the heat therapy all aided to me tackling all my problems. Also, there is a convenient free parking lot on E Orange Grove Avenue and the steps from the parking garage lead right down to Step Ahead's front entrance. Alma at the front desk is always so welcoming and very informative about all different insurances, so you have no stress. I am very surprised to read good reviews. I sincerely figured he was out of business by now and I would find a bunch of bad reviews. Things must have drastically changed since I went to Eric after knee surgery 3 years ago. In the 6 or 7 weeks, 2 to 3 times a week that I went, only once did he or anyone else actually touch my knee. Not until I started going to another place did I know the physical therapist is suppose to massage and manipulate your injured area 10-15 minutes each time you go. I had never been to therapy so I didn't know better. I now have a fabulous therapist . Dr. Powell must keep him in business. read more

I have been going to Step Ahead for PT for a torn rotator cuff. Had been happy with everything until I went yesterday. Eric, as soon as I arrived said, "You haven't been here in a month." No, "Hello", no, "Are you ok.?" Then while he was working on my shoulder, he went on to totally make me feel like a child as he quizzed me as to why I hadn't been in. There was a reason for my absence and I explained what it was. He clearly was annoyed and let me know it. I really did not appreciate feeling like I had to explain myself. Very uncomfortable. If you're only looking for a gym and place to use equipment because it's close to your work or something then MAYBE go here because that's all you'll get. Unfortunately I've had several back surgeries and seen several physical therapists. After recently moving to Burbank I decided to find a PT in our new home town. Alma, the receptionist/office manager is amazing and extremely helpful!! If my PT experience was based on office staff I'd rate it 5 stars. Eric is the worse PT with whom I"ve ever worked. He NEVER did anything with me any session other than rub my neck for 5 minutes max. NEVER in my 11 appointments was he in any way a therapist!! He hides behind sarcasm, has no compassion or empathy for someone injured and from my experience as a patient, basically could care less about his patients. If you want a therapist that sits around flirting with teenage girls and most of his women patients go here. If you have no interest in improving physically or recovering from your injury go here. If you enjoy being treated as if you don't matter go here. I know more of Eric's gossip from being in this office than he knows about me, my injury or my recovery. Just finished 12 weeks of physical therapy at Step Ahead in Burbank and I am grateful for the care and services provided by Eric and his staff. From the scheduling with Alma to the friendly and courteous staff, this leg of my journey post meniscus repair was very comfortable. Eric was completely hands on and tailored the recovery to my needs. If there was an exercise or equipment I did not feel comfortable using...he would find the way to accommodate my needs and obtain same results. When Eric is not directly working with a patient, he is observant of his staff and the running of his practice. There aren't enough stars to give to Eric and his staff. I've unfortunately been to PTs for over 20 years for back and shoulder problems. Eric is hands down the best I've ever been to. You can tell just from listening to him talk to other patients that he knows his business inside and out. Meticulous note-taking, exceptional assistants, the perfect combo of pushing an aggressive therapy combined with restraint and knowledge of the time it takes to heal, and of course Alma manning the administrative duties with skill and aplomb. I had the choice between a no-copay therapist through my insurance or a copay situation with the Dr's choice of PTs. I haven't regretted a dime of those copays. I tore my ACL in late September and basically started PT a week after that (after MRI and doctor visits) in preparation for my surgery. I am NEARLY done with PT nearly 11 months later (1 week left?) and everyone here has been great. I was originally seeing Eric but due to my crazy schedule switched to Carlos. My recovery has gone smoothly. They always ask me how I'm doing, listen to my concerns, push me to strengthen, heal and improve my range of motion but also were very conscious of the limitations when you're only X amount of months out of surgery. I never had any set backs and I pretty consistently saw improvements from week to week. It's been a long journey but I am grateful for the great care I got here. read more

Hard to find parking. Less than professional staff and owner. You will not see a real therapist here except the first visit. We were left with the assistants who were not knowledgeable about anatomy nor concerned for our recovery. When you are injured you need nice people on your team, definitely not this place. read more
