Let this post be a Red FLAG to all who reads. It may save you much frustration, distress and loss of time and money.
I was recently separated and in the process of a divorce after a long-term marriage and found Asad Kayed to do my taxes back in March, as I had never prepared my taxes during my married years...it was my ex that took care of all our financials. I was in awe when Asad, informed me I was receiving an almost $4,000 return. I was elated because I had accumulated enormous attorneys fees to pay for my divorce and this return was going to help me tremendously. The checks arrived promptly, and used immediately to pay my divorce attorney bills.
Two months passed, and my ex informed me that he was unable to file his taxes because someone had already used his SSN to file a tax return. It turns out that Asad in fact used my ex's SSN to file "my" tax return, despite all the proper paperwork and information I provided him. I sent numerous emails and voicemail messages to him, however it was a phone call from my ex's CPA to him that finally prompted him to respond. He indicated that he would amend my taxes. Another 6 weeks passed, as well as more phone messages and emails, and Asad was not to be found. He didn't have the professional courtesy to return any of my messages.....until my last call to him, when I told him that I was convinced he had no intention of returning my messages and that I had found another tax accountant to fix his mess. That's when he finally returned my call to say that I needed to set up an appt. with him "because my taxes were no so straight forward" even though I had no assets to claim, no investments nor retirement...just my income from my job and my alimony. Seems pretty straight forward to me. He even had the audacity to tell me that he left me a voicemail message the week or two prior---he said he couldn't remember. That which I believe is a lie. I never received any messages from him. He claimed, he had a death in the family (a nephew), therefore that was why it took so long for him to respond---6 weeks??!! My response to him was that my business with him was done and instructed him to fax or mail my W-2 and other info to my new tax preparer (which to this day, he has failed to do).
To add insult to injury, my new tax preparer informed me that I should have never received a refund, in fact I owed $2200 to the IRS. And that Asad, not only used the wrong SSN #, but DID NOT claim my alimony as income, and mis-spelled my last name on my income tax return as well. Therefore I owed the IRS about $6,000!!!
I admit, I am at fault too by not reviewing my tax returns. I just took his word and trusted him. I know now. However when you believe you are hiring a professional tax preparer, you trust they know what they are doing and walk you though the process to assure accuracy and completeness, especially when they know your circumstances. I guess this is what happens when you have an inexperienced client and an unprofessional and incompetent service provider.
As a previous poster suggested....there are many professional, qualified and competent tax preparers and CPA's out there...so why choose Asad Kayed? BEWARE. read more
