My review is based on the unprofessional in person exchange we had with Amin. We needed a local tax preparer and called Amin and set up an in person consultation. Upon arriving into the office, he didn't greet us and was very cold. After coming in, the initial estimate he gave us was $750 for small business and personal tax. After seeing our return from last year the rate went to $1,200 to $1,500. We were extremely disappointed with the customer experience since Yelp reviews were so positive. In the middle of our conversation, Amin saw a voicemail come in and played it out loud for us to hear while we were talking. The TL;DR version: via first contact from this business-over the phone, Amin, or a person with a thick accent demanded to know why I didn't do something over 11 years ago. Pretty straight forward review on my experience over the phone with this company. I left a message which Amin replied with a phone call back a few hours later. I explained a back tax issue I had recently became aware of from 2005. Rather than say, "yes I can help" "are you free to come in?" or, "I have experience with that," I got asked instead, "well why didn't you pay them?" I said excuse me? (I said this because I am of sound mind and am well aware that despite my negligence of something I was not aware of until recently, I don't see how a seemingly successful person would go out of their way to come off like an arrogant, rude, unprofessional fool) Amin repeated himself, "I said WHY. DIDNT. YOU. JUST. PAY. IT? THE TAXES FROM 2005???" I hung up. I'm a grown man; I'm not 6 years old. I answer to nobody with such a lack of respect. Maybe this is how you do business but I'll take my business elsewhere. If you have complicated taxes, you really need Amin. The long story: This is the third year Amin has prepared our taxes. We went back to him this year after trying someone else last year, and realizing we made a big mistake by going elsewhere. After trying someone else we realized how much Amin knows his stuff. Not only did he find errors on our taxes last year, but he's also fast and knows exactly what info he needs to get the job done. We left because I wanted to try someone cheaper and more personable ... but after we were in too deep, it was clear we made a mistake. Personally, doing taxes are like pulling teeth for me. I hate all the compilation of data and crunching numbers. But, when you go to Amin year after year, it gets easier because he has all your history and you just need to fill out a questionnaire with some of his software. This is a story of the prodigals son... My wife and I began working with Amin about 5 years ago. He was easy to work with, a straight shooter, and always friendly. Then, about 3 years ago, a seductive accounting enchantress (who was recommended by a neighboring business) sold me on her monthly bookkeeping and tax preparation services. Her back story was that she had assisted 2 companies go public and was now fulfilling her desire to assist small businesses. She helped me to organize my business legally, prepared my monthly statements, and come end of the year, prepared my taxes... All seemed fine until I tugged on a thread that unraveled the sweater. My legal organization was based on bad advise and had to be completely redone, the bookkeeping was also done incorrectly, and finally, when she prepared our taxes, it was officially only claimed as an assist to our preparing ourselves so she carried no responsibility if anything wasn't done right. Needless to say, it ended with a crash. So two years ago, we make our way back to Amin's office... while we were going through all that needed to be sorted, he would raise his eyes just above his monitor so he could see me when he needed an answer to a question. There was no judgement on his part, but it felt like the teacher was calling on me and I didn't have the answers. After sorting it all out, we set a path to get everything on track. It took two years and I can say with great pride now, that all is as it should be and I have Amin to thank. Amin was immediate on dealing with a tax issue that has been reappearing since 2012, due to some shady business a company I used to work for somehow got me wrapped up in by mixing up my Social Security Number with their Employee Identification Number. I was getting notices stating I didn't claim $1.6 million... as owner of the company!! I was never an owner, and on top of that, the company somehow resubmitted my W-2 from 2011 for 2012 (I no longer worked for that company in 2012) and I was getting dinged for their mistake. Needless to say, it was a mess. I sent Amin an email and asked for assistance as soon as we were both available- he fit me in that same afternoon. He had me contact the IRS to get some more details, I told him what they said, and he knew exactly where the problem was stemming from.
