They tell me since I own my tank to go try somewhere else. Panicked, I start calling around. It's the coldest in a long time around here, and no one is picking up. I leave messages as I get ready for the wedding. Eric from Gastec calls back and after a few forms they tell me they'll be out as soon as possible. Two days later, worrying I may of messed up waiting so long they came out and filled the tank! $10 hazardous charge and lower price from my other supplier. I will definitely be using them again!!! Evidently Independence…read morePropane and Mark Delahanty didn't get the memo that they aren't supposed to care about customer service and whether or not folks run out of propane for heating their homes in mid January. I called Mark in a panic because I'd been trying for a week to get a propane delivery from Amerigas, with whom we've done business for 3 years. We were on automatic delivery, but Amerigas wouldn't schedule a delivery , even though our tanks were down to 13% capacity (and they told us to notify them if we got below 30%). They act like a bureaucratic dinosaur that can't get out of its own way. You have to deal with a nationwide call center and can never reach the same person twice. It was frustrating and infuriating beyond belief. I finally gave up, sent a certified letter to Amerigas telling them to remove their 3 100-gallon tanks, and scheduled a visit with Mark from Independence. Mark was willing to come out the next day. He and his associate installed 3 tanks, hooked everything up, tested for leaks, lit our pilots and was on his way to the next job in the space of about one hour. Independence has remote monitoring and actually talks to their customers...no more mega call centers to deal with, no Covid-19 excuses, no bureaucracy...just good old customer service and American work ethic. ..just when I thought they were extinct! What a pleasure to deal with Mark Delahanty and Independence Propane.

The whole tone was kind of threatening like, "renew your service, or else!" or else... go with another company? So when I did reach out to them, Debra sent me a ludicrous 3-year contract with $10 minimum monthly charges, and penalties for early termination etc. that I did not feel comfortable signing. But first, she tried to scare me on the phone saying someone scheduled to remove the tank THAT VERY DAY, and she puts me on hold coming back to say, "Phew!" so now I'm supposed to be relieved that they didn't pull their precious tank. Then when she sends me the contract via email, she tells me j/k the tank has been removed, and I had to ask if there was another charge to deliver a new tank, and she said there wasn't, but when I asked several followup questions, there were crickets. So we move in, and sure enough, there's their tank still sitting there. Now I'll be darned if I can get them to come pick it up afterall! I spoke with Rose and she told me she will have to talk to Debra about, "starting the tank removal process." No response for 2 days. I call back the second day, get placed on extended holds, dropping my call so I have to call back etc. only to tell me it won't be picked up for four more business days. Give me a break! All we use propane for is the stove. Fall is here, and I just want to be able to cook a normal meal in my own house! Their rental fees are more than double the competition, their service is obviously all mixed up and awful. At this point I am ready to just put the darn thing on the curb! Besides which, they never should have sent a monthly top-up type contract for cooking service, when just an annual fill-up is usually all that's required. What a scam.

The cost was $6.94/gallon compared to the going rate of around $3.00/gallon from other local companies (I found this out after the fact). I called Blue Flame and the answering machine operator said she could not give me any information. She told me to call back at 6:30 tonight if the driver does not come out in the meantime and they'll have to complete an emergency service call, and the kicker is, we'll be charged a fee. The odd thing is I live in Dublin and Blue Flame also resides in Dublin. One would think this was a no brainer.

Town & Country had the lowest current price by quite a bit! In addition, the man who answered the phone was very friendly and knowledgeable. He knew immediately pricing, appointment times, delivery policy etc. I found this to not be true of some other companies. For example, upon calling some of the others the person answering the telephone did not have current prices or know their companies policy on minimum delivery amount etc. They had to have someone call me back. Weird and very annoying. Who has time for that. So I appreciated Town & Country's quick and friendly response. I just received my delivery yesterday.
