She took a picture and commented how wrinkled it was and I should have noticed the stain. She was directed to not exchange it. One two separate occasions, we either had a bit of trouble finding the items we were looking for, or there was only 1 left (2x daughters, so we need 2x of everything) and needed help. Not only did she greet us upon entry to the section she was working, but when she saw us milling about (needing help) she preempted without us having to ask and offered assistance. The first time to find an item, the second time to get a 2nd of another that had been depleted. On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, around 12:00 p.m., I attempted to return an item I had received from my baby shower. The item was unused and still had its original product tags attached, but I did not have the receipt or the TJ Maxx price sticker. I was told at this location that I could not receive merchandise credit. After leaving, I contacted TJ Maxx Customer Service directly and was informed that, in this circumstance, the store could locate a comparable item and use that price to process the return as merchandise credit. I also contacted another TJ Maxx location in the surrounding area, and they confirmed the same process. I then called this store back simply to clarify the discrepancy. Rather than acknowledging the information I had received or attempting to resolve the issue, the manager repeatedly insisted that both Customer Service and the other TJ Maxx location were incorrect. What bothered me most was not even the return itself, but the way the situation was handled. The manager's demeanor both in the store and over the phone came across as dismissive, unfriendly, and unprofessional. There was very little effort to listen to the concern or communicate respectfully. I would strongly encourage additional management training around customer communication, professionalism, and conflict resolution. Store policies can understandably create frustrating situations, but the way management speaks to and handles customers makes a significant difference in the overall experience.
