Ciudadela is located in San Juan. We rented an Airbnb at this apartment complex. There are several…read morebuildings that encompass "Ciudadela" as a whole. The complex includes access to a pool. The poor is absolutely gorgeous and decently warm. Lots of seating is available at the pool as well. Showers and a clean locker room are connected. At the bottom of the complex are several businesses including a planet fitness, coffee/cafe shop, 24 hour grocery store and more! It was definitely convenient to have a store within walking distance. There is security present at the building, we never felt unsafe during our stay. You also have to use a key fob to get into the building and to get to your floor. Parking was included and you need to get a pass and a detection device to let you into the residents side. Keep in mind we lost power almost everyday at some point. The warm water quickly disappeared once the power went off. In addition there seems to be a chemical or strong perfumes cleaner used in the building and units that have me headaches. I would not suggest booking here if you are sensitive to smells. Over all a good decently centrally located place to stay in San Juan. You definitely would need to rent a care in you stayed here to get to downtown areas and beaches.

But inside the apartments range from good to bad. The pool has some renovations around the part of the kiddy pool but the regular pool was okay to use. The inside of the building gets hooot and stuffy. TIP: beautiful beach that condo leads out too BUT there is a large rock on beach states that sewage sometimes spills out of it onto the beach.. nice beach but not so happy about that... First AIRBNB: Hosted by Aida and Francisco J. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Dirty dirty dirty and gross. Felt nasty just being in there. Didn't want to sit or touch anything. Floors disgusting, hose and tray dirty and sticking out of the wall. From what? Idk maybe the shower? But why would that be there for it? Then there were dirty crumbled towels mixed in the closet with extras. The place was very dirty and filthy. There's mold, stains, etc on things. Floors are dirty. There's globs of hair by the couch. The bedsheets smelled musty- like unclean from a smelly person. The one plug in the bedroom didn't work and sparked. We were scared of an electrical fire.. the tv was broken. Just very unkept. Beware of this scam. We luckily were able to cancel our reservation and book another for a unit on the same building. Hosts were nice, but for the price it was ridiculous to start my vacation like that .... Second AIRBNB: much better unit and had a balcony with a view of the city. Was kept up much better and enjoyed the rest of the trip in San Juan. This unit also came with parking, whereas the other one didn't. Sucks how the condo looks from the outside but felt safe with a guard at the front of the gated parking entrance and another at the front door of the complex at all times. From the condom wrapper, to the VERY long black hair in the bathroom. The door frame is almost completely rusted out. Unit right next to the trash room. Employees are incredibly rude!!! RUINED MY HONEYMOON!!! You know who you are. Storm shutters slamming on the window all night. Now they are lying saying they offered a move. They cannot provide any correspondence of that. I was trying to book another place so my honeymoon wasn't ruined, yea that goes over well on a weekend the day of. Property and property management company take zero responsibility, and are now blaming me!! Say it's due to my personal preference as to the standards. They also wait to tell you until you get check in info to say the are "monitoring" your noise level, but NOT recording!!! Pros: Attached parking garage Security guard at the main gate Roaming security guard during the day Beachfront Large swimming pool Tennis courts Basketball court 24 hour amenities within walking distance Lots of restaurants nearby Suites available Hi speed Wi-Fi Key fob security Dedicated parking space The sand on the beach and in the ocean is clean and silky smooth Cons: Not well kept Beach and ocean have a lot of stinky seaweed at times Apartment 1010 had a musty smell Furniture had a musty smell Uncomfortable beds Dated decor and amenities within apartment 1010 Our apartment was very dated. Some of the lights didn't work and the entrance door scraped against a vent on the ceiling each time it was opened/closed. The door knob broke and we got locked out of the apartment until a locksmith could come and replace it. There was a TV, but no cable to watch. However, because there was Wi-Fi, we were able to use a streaming app on the smart TV. The master bedroom didn't have a TV. This apartment needs a make over. The beach isn't the greatest because of the proximity to seaweed. At certain times of the day, the seaweed invades the tide, depending on the wind. Other times, the seaweed floats east into a cove. Overall, I wouldn't visit again. I think better accommodations can be found a few minutes east for similar prices and better beaches.
