Every person there I have been in contact with has been forthcoming with any questions I may have & react quickly with any requests I have as well as keeping me updated on his actions & state of mind. He's physically looked the best he has been in months--even his doctors have commented on that. He's getting the best care & is in the right place at the right time. Though it pains me to see him in this state, he is where he should be at this time. I would highly recommend Avon Oaks to any family member seeking long or short term care for a loved one.

Having once been in the seminary and a pastoral minister, I've been in and out of a lot of nursing home senior living facilities. This place is tops! Really! All the staff are extraordinarily kind, warm, patient (no pun intended) and attentive to the needs of the residents. My mom couldn't have been better cared for. They always looked in on her to make sure she was alright. They treated mom (Marie) with dignity and respect, patience and kindness. Although once sponsored by the Lutheran Church, they have a very Catholic presence. The Diocese of Cleveland provides a priest to offer Mass there every Sunday, and they have a wonderful sister (nun) from Africa who is the coordinator. When mom died, I gave her whatever she wanted from her room. The food seemed adequate. But the most important thing was the atmosphere of real care and concern. It's nothing short of remarkable.

UPDATE to my 7/5/2013 review (please see below)…read more Due to my parents requiring a greater level of care than BLT can provide, we looked far & wide to find something comparable. the search has confirmed just how wonderful BLT is. We also found that for the services offered, and quality of life, the price is very reasonable indeed! And the food quality at BLT is the best around. It's not your 'typical' institutional food. Not by a long shot! Fred, the food manager, does a FANTASTIC job of creating tasty balanced meals. My parents long for the good ol' days of living at BLT. Prior (original) review: 7/5/2013

Almost like a fancy resort! The pros of this facility: Good food, good drink, excellent nursing staff that actually go the extra mile for their patients. Very clean throughout the entire facility. Everything was very accessible for wheelchairs, walkers and loading and unloading by the front door. The receptionists at the front desk were always warm and welcoming. Great physical therapy program, but they are tough on you. But, they have to be! Also no worries about people stealing your possessions in this facility. She's been to other facilities where they will steal anything if it's not bolted down! Cons: The only con was the varying wake up time between 4:30 - 5:30 a.m. in order to be up and ready for breakfast at 7:00 a.m. Even if you need assistance getting ready, the hurry up and wait is pretty ridiculous! It's understandable that the staff have a schedule to go by, but c'mon now! Other than that, my Mom says she was treated like a VIP there! Thanks for taking such great care of my Mom, guys! Highly recommend this facility!

In a few visits, I was making noticeable improvement with my range of motion as well as pain! Jody spends an entire hour with me. She has her very experienced hands on me the entire time. It's like she can feel thru my skin and knows exactly how to treat me for each visit, and each one is different. I can honestly say that I recommend Jody Heyman 100%.
