After leaving a previous job and losing my dental insurance from Willamette Dental, it had been about 1 1/2 years since I had last had a cleaning and an exam. Dr. Dhakchang's website looked impressive and the reviews present on it were glowing. I bought the Amazon Local deal and then visited Yelp, only to discover the 1-star review that already was here, detailing a "painful" exam and cleaning, what sounded like "upselling" by the dentist, and a change in the bite pattern of the reviewer's teeth. Admittedly, I was a little concerned that perhaps buying this Amazon Local deal was a bad idea. However, after my visit with Dr. Dhakchang, all of my concerns were dispelled almost instantly. True, it's a small office (just a couple of exam spaces) and she's nearly doing one-woman show (her assistant was out on the day I had my appointment, so she handled my paperwork and all elements of the exam all by herself). Yet she was warm, kind, and efficient in her work. I was impressed by how the X-rays were completed while I sat in the chair (at Willamette Dental, I always had to go to a separate room for X-rays). Additionally, she had a high-tech small camera that she was able to use to view some of my dental issues ("pockets" where my gums have dropped below the enamel line) and offer treatment options to me. Granted, I agree with the previous reviewer that Dr. Dhakchang was a bit clumsy regarding using the cleaning tools (she sprayed my face with water and toothpaste during the cleaning and joked that I was getting a "free facial"). But I only can imagine that the person who did the previous review was naïve when it comes to the instruments used during a cleaning/exam. Dr. Dhakchang had a ultrasonic cleaner -- this is STANDARD at Willamette Dental and nothing unusual. It gets one's teeth cleaner than a standard electric brush. I saw NO upselling from Dr. Dhakchang during my visit. When I complained about some issues I was having, she suggested some treatment options, but I did not feel under any pressure to purchase any additional dental work from her. When it came time to check out at the end of the visit, there were no charges beyond the $69 I already had paid for the Amazon Local deal. Since I will be relocating to a another country this fall, I am unsure if I will be returning to Dr. Dhakchang, but if I find myself back in Seattle next year, I will see her again for my yearly exam. Female dentists are not very common, and I am happy to support a woman who is a political refugee who has chosen to make the Pacific Northwest her home.

I was born with a missing permanent lateral incisor and had a small gap between my incisor and canine tooth on my right side. At her suggestion, I had all three of my front teeth capped with porcelain crowns which filled the gap and look like natural teeth. The color match is great too. I'm very pleased with Dr. Dhakchang's treatment plan and now I can smile with confidence for the first time in my life and to think I lived with that gap for so many years. He has a calm, professional bedside manner; he is exceptionally communicative during procedures, and he is GENTLE. (There's nothing worse than adding insult to injury with dentist who scrapes my face with a tool because he's not watching what he's doing!) He's also thorough with his work and doesn't rush through like other dentists I've had. His staff is professional in person and on the phone, and they were flexible with me on scheduling the payment for services. The office is clean and comfortable, and I think it's been recently updated. As has been established in prior reviews, I'm pretty tough when it comes to rating health professionals. I live in Fremont now, but I am going to keep Dr. Rekhi. He's just too great--and once I find those great practitioners, it's hard to let them go!

I'd recommend getting a second opinion after receiving a treatment plan from Dr Yeung. The prices were twice as much as most every other dentist with equal credentials. My mistake was not getting another opinion. Trusting her was my error. The actual work wasn't up to par too. I left after my conscious & bank account had concerns. I found out later that she never looked at my 3D dental CT Scan before my treatment. I'm so grateful I decided to get other professional opinions but unfortunately it was after I'd been taken. If you're the type of person that prefers to buy items at Erewhon for twice as much as other grocery stores then maybe Dr Yeung is for you. Or, if you think airports and movie theaters have great prices on food and beverages, she might be the one for you. This is my TRUE experience. This is not personal.

This office does not verify plan details or eligibility in advance like other dentists do, and their estimates are largely incorrect, which led to unexpected costs for me. They also did not inform me of potential lower-cost alternatives or downgrades in coverage for common procedures like fillings, which they are required to do. On a positive note, my hygienist was friendly, thorough, and honest, and I appreciated the availability of early 7am appointments. Overall, however, the experience felt more transactional than patient-focused, and I did not feel that my best interests were being prioritized.
