Worst feed store experience ever. The customer service is absolutely terrible. No one bothers to greet you, my husband even said hello and was completely ignored. When I asked about something I needed, the girl gave me a dry, rude response. The whole place made me feel uncomfortable. Go anywhere else but here. If you don't know exactly what you're looking for, they'll just leave you feeling frustrated and discouraged. Customers spending this much money at a feed store at least deserve basic courtesy. read more

This used to be my regular, as I am local. Now, it has changed into my "only if I have no other choice", which seems to be heading towards "not if the last feed store on Earth". The young ladies, more like little snotty girls, are driving this business straight into the ground for the following reasons: bad attitudes, rudeness, stink face, staring at phone screens while customers are waiting at counters and inability to maintain stock. read more

Customer service is horrible. They don't know anything and act like they don't care. Selection is going downhill--often out of products.

I just bought 3 chicks on 3/22/25 at Steinhausers. The young lady who checked me out deserves the 5 stars. She was very good and went to get a product I requested herself! However, the girl with straight reddish brown hair just below her shoulders grabbed a box and stated she would go get my chicks. She boxed them up before I could see them. Needless to say I didn't look at them till I got home. Two were spunky as normal but the 3rd laid in box without moving. When I picked it up it didn't move. Iplaced it under the heat plate to get warm hoping to save it. Unfortunately it died short of 12pm. When I took it back she said they couldn't help. She informed me it was moving when she put it in the box. She knew that chick was not well. I don't care about it being replaced! I just don't want to go thru the agony of something innocent dying in my hands when I can't save it. Beware don't trust this girl to be ethical watch what she gives you. No stars for her! read more

Very disappointed with this business. I have been a long time customer and for the last two times that I've gone there, none of the employees were wearing masks. Even though, on the door they have a sign that states that the Governor Abbott has issued a state-wide mandate that you must wear a mask to enter a business. When I questioned them why they were not wearing mask. I was informed that they were given the option to wear one or not. This is unacceptable to me and I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I simply love this place. We take our grandsons here occasionally to buy pet food. Usually, they have baby animals, right now they have chicks, ducklings, etc. One time they were expecting piglets and we waited until they got there. The staff is a group of the nicest people. So helpful, and always sweet to our grandsons. We stopped by today to pick up pet food and our grandsons got to hold the baby chicks, and ducklings. read more

This happened today to my wife Update: Steinhauser's deleted my fb post, rather than address it. Sorry folks, this is not going away with a delete button. Came in back gate, had to maneuver around the truck/trailer parked directly in the way. Was backing in when the crazy lady coming in behind me whipped in between us, on my blind side. I almost hit her. I asked her to move & Steinhauser's manager Steve, came out (after the woman called me everything but a white woman & offered to "fight me") threatened me with citation & wrecker, refused to serve me. Didn't ask giant trailer to move, didn't ask the woman that was *behind* me & impatiently almost caused an accident, but yelled & threatened ME. This could have been solved so easily by asking the impatient woman to move her single vehicle. Or bring my feed out to where i had to stop to avoid hitting her stupid self. This is no way to treat any human, but definitely not a female customer who shopped here weekly for years. read more

I just went to go pick up purina strategy healthy edge with a bogo coupon purina sent me TODAY. The manager at the Alvin location told me they are no longer taking those coupons because someone was making copies of them. The coupon I printed had today's date on it and I was still denied the bogo. I told the woman that I just drove 20 miles to come get this feed and that I had been shopping here for over 10 years. She had absolutely no problem turning away my money. I will no longer be shopping her because of this. I am not a scammer and the coupon had today's date but that meant nothing to her. To insult your paying loyal customers is absolutely disgusting. read more

This is the worst feed store ever. I have daughters in FFA that raise show goats. I have been to Steinhausers in Alvin 6 different times in the past 4 months when they have been out of our feed, they keep telling me they will get it in a week or so, and when they do they might get a couple of bags. Weekend before last was the last straw when I went not only did they not have our feed but they also were out of Patterson bedding. I also found out our Ag teacher has had it with them as well as they are always out of the Turkey food the schools uses. I suggest anyone wanting a good feed store go to Gulf Coast Feed 4111 FM 2351 Friendswood. They always have my feed in stock and are very friendly and helplful. read more
