We just absolutely loved our stay here. Reserved a 3 bedroom 3 bath house with a private dock directly on the river. Arrived around 8 at night and needless to say it's quite dark on these parts but the caretakers left the house brightly lit so we could easily pick it out. The house itself was gorgrous! A huge chefs kitchen...2 bedrooms and 2 baths downstairs. The mater suite was upstairs and to die for. Separate living room..big comfy bed...a western style soaking tub..water closet..and french doors the opened to the balcony over looking the river. There was a huge dining table inside as well as a table om the deck overlooking the river where u could eat as well. The kitchen had every utensil..pot or pan that you'd ever need. We Even Got To Use The fireplace as a cold front came through dropping it down to 50 before it quickly passed and went up to 80 One of the cabins is known for Jimmy carter staying there. They have a petting zoo which was fun at first but after a few minutes you could tell it isn't high on their priority list which bothered me a bit. There is also a small chapel amd really large cabin for receptions or reunions. Our rental was $650 plus taxes etc. Well worth every penny. There were a few cute local restaurants nearby we enjoyed as well directly on the river. It really is a very nice area! read more

Stayed at the 'Angel's attic' during our evacu-cation from hurricane florence. First off, Trish, was as so sweet when we called about making a last minute booking. We loved the grounds with the walking paths, great for the pup and well lit at night. Brought our boat and parked in the trailer parking areas which was great! Docked up one afternoon during our river cruise. Amenities are great. Didn't use the pool but that is a definite perk. Dog run is great. Grounds were well taken care of. Perfect little getaway. Our cottage had a grill (had to buy charcoal- keep in mind if you want to bring for your stay). Bed super comfy. Shower/tub was an adventure. First off let me say that the resort area was awesome, the cottage was immaculate with lots of items provided and the owner was accommodating. But the one problem we had was the internet; it did not work. Yes I know we are on holiday and should not be on the internet but it is not just Facebook on the internet but we can monitor the security of our home as well as get messages from family. We also do like to have the option to watch movies while on vacation as well and who rents DVD's anymore? So we read that streaming was not an option as they limit the internet to 10GB a month which apparently others had not observed as this was the reason our internet was not working. We used our own data plan that we had to upgrade as we try to keep it low as well. But all that being said the main reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the owner called someone to come out and they came at 9am Sunday morning, Valentines day. Again we are on holiday and would have liked to sleep in a little. We had even said we were OK and if they were going to send someone don't have them come out too early. It was a rude awakening that morning ! Now about the place; awesome! The room was incredible if not a little small. Would not recommend this for a family but for 2 it was cozy. Lots of cooking and bathroom items provided as well as some stuff to make dinner and breakfast once if you had got in late or did not bring groceries. This was a great touch. The bathtub was really nice for relaxing after a day our on the river. Back patio was peaceful and relaxing for morning coffee and evening adult beverages. The grill was right outside with a table to site at while grilling. Overall it was a great stay and we hope to return but the early wake up on valentines day dull the glow a little. We would still recommend this to friends but would also recommend to the owner to give people a little more data for the internet. It is a fact of the times that it is needed. read more

Stayed here with my fiance and it was absolutely perfect! We stayed in Angel's Attic and how sweet it was! Loved the romantic feel! The grounds are well lit at night for a walk. We brought our boat which was perfect to dock here. Definitely cant wait to come back and now thinking of this as a spot for our wedding! read more
