The manager on duty said she would authorize a refund and that we needed to complete it through hotels.com. Hotels.com said no, they motel needed to do the refund, which doing the research, hotels.com is corrects. Now guess what? We cannot get ahold of the owner. Imaging that. 1. Toilet would not flush very well at all. 2. The plugger was broken. 3. The television had about 1/4" of dust on it. 4. No remote control for the television. 5. We opened the refrigerator and it smelled like something died in it. (AWFUL!) 6. The deck door was cracked. 7. We think it was died dog poop (we hope that's all it was) on deck. 8. The two lamps had bent and cracked lamp shades. 9. The continental breakfast consisted of tiny dried up pastries. 10. No drinking glasses in the room. 11. No waste basket. 12. As bad as it was I was willing to forfeit the second night funds, but the motel manage lied and said we would get a refund, (which was listed when we make the reservation.) 13. Guess what? Trying get a refund is looking like an impossibility. I made a similar list and the motel clerk at the desk initialed it and agreed that my list was accurate. We will never go back to this place.

I had hoped to make it to Tampa, but it was not to be. The guy at the front desk was nice and very helpful. The room and the hotel definitely need attention. But, it's an econo Lodge, not a Hilton. The problem was that at 7:00 a.m., the guys started ripping apart the room behind mine. There was some banging and yelling, but at a little before 8:00 a.m., they started hammering the tile off the walls in the adjoining bathroom. Why would you put someone in a room next to the room that's going to under construction the next morning?? I was exhausted, and I intended to sleep in but even if I didn't, who wants to hear that crap in the early morning in a hotel room??? Judging by the parking lot, there were about three other people staying here, I'm pretty sure they could've put me in a room a little further away from this. Oh, by the way, if you get a second floor room, there are no elevators. I was too tired to stop and look at reviews, I just pulled into the first chain motel that I recognized, thinking that there is a basic standard For places like Econolodge etc., apparently not.

They got us checked in quickly and we were on our way to a hot shower and comfy bed in a jiffy. The room was clean, and the high pressures shower was perfect. The beds and pillows were just right. The only complaint about the room...the air was difficult to moderate. It was either too hot or too cold and when the air was running, it was loud...quite a few decibels above soothing white noise. Complimentary breakfast was decent and the staff kept it rolling as the morning crowd grew. All in all, a nice spot, although a tad pricey.

Nearly every fixture was broken: the electrical outlet attached to the baseboard worked, but the baseboard was ripped from the wall, exposing the wiring behind. The smoke detector was hanging by it's wires, the towel rack in the bathroom was hanging on one side, the shower head wouldn't move, there was no light in the entry way, no fan in the bathroom, the towels were sand paper...I could go on, but I think you get the picture. WiFi was free, but ran at a less-than-blazing 0.69 Mb (according to Speedtest.net). I could check email, so long as there were no attachments. The breakfast? Inedible. The oatmeal was barely lukewarm, gloppy and tasteless, every container of yogurt had an expiration date from ten days before (though the person at the counter DID bring out a new case from the back - that had 2 more days until they expired). I considered trying the raisin bran, but it was dumped in a plastic bin and I was leery of it. We left hungry, not well rested and determined to never set foot in the place again. A few hundred miles down the road, we realized that a pillow was left behind (ours). We called, but were told the pillow had not been turned in to lost and found. Scratch one pillow. There was ONE bright spot - Angie, the woman who checked us in, was very friendly - she projected a very nice customer service image, an image that the facility could not, unfortunately, live up to. Honestly - sleeping in the car and showering at a truck stop would have made for a better evening...and we'd still have a nice pillow. :-) Finally - to be fair - the manager said they were aware of the facility issues and was working to get the exterior problems repaired and would then begin on the interior. Seems to me fixing electrical issues would take priority over exterior issues - or at least don't rent the worst room to one of the few visitors you had that night.
