I am grateful that he is passing his high level of skill along to dental students in his capacity as Professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr Wetreich's expertise and artistry are unmatched. He listens and takes great care to deliver upon a patient's expectations. The entire staff of his office, and the other practitioners to whom I was referred by him, are highly professional, talented, and kind people. I had quite a bit of work done, both to fix failing work done by other dentists and underlying problems that developed because of that. I am so pleased with the results of the project that, not only do I feel confident enough to smile again but I just bought red lipstick for the first time in 20 years!

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Wetreich was very disappointing. I returned to his care…read moreexpecting quality treatment but instead received treatment that led to ongoing dental problems and related issues which remain very difficult to resolve. I regret following his advice to remove a crowned, root-canal-treated wisdom tooth that two prior dentists had advised me to keep, as well as agreeing to a bite adjustment in January 2025. Afterward, I developed tooth sensitivity, lingering toothaches, and what I perceived as changes in my lower face and lips -- including sagging, a sunken appearance, and an aged look. From my perspective, these issues only began after the bite adjustment, and the treatment options I've been offered have been complex, costly, and not reassuring. I deeply regret these decisions and strongly urge others to seek multiple opinions before agreeing to any similar treatments. This review is based solely on my personal experience and perspective as a patient.

I found Beacon Dental (as it was called then) which was run by Dr. Zabinsky, who I found quirky and charming. A year after winning me over, he sold his practice and Dr. Shah-Hosseini took over. I'm not someone who loves change, so I wasn't thrilled about my third new dentist in a two year period, but I immediately liked Dr. SH. She's efficient, thorough, and really very sweet. She makes potentially painful procedures easy. I particularly love the hygienist in the office, and Dr. SH's assistant, who would always put me at ease in those moments of anxiety before any dental procedure. Small note - I also love that it's super easy to get there (right on the Green C Line) and that there's TONS of parking. Here's to making life easy.

We actually live in Brookline and do not have a car, so the fact that we still decided to continue all the way into Newton via Uber/Lyft, when we could have continued with any number of dentists in Brookline, should be a testament to how great this practice is. Dr. Orenstein is the first dentist I have had who spends more than just a few seconds talking with you. He is very empathetic, and will work with you to come up with a reasonable plan for treatment and for preventative care. He is always very patient and takes the time to address all concerns. Probably of utmost importance to know before visiting a new dentist, he is honest and trustworthy, and will not try to push anything not medically necessary or anything you are not comfortable with. Additionally, his dental hygienists and front desk staff are all top notch, warm, and easy going. With the preventative care advice and coaching I received from Dr. Orenstein and the hygienist who saw me (I unfortunately forgot her name!), we came up with a plan together that substantially improved my periodontal health, and got my teeth and gums into the best shape they have been in several years!
