We stumbled upon this spot while strolling through downtown Palo Alto and craving dim sum. And it did NOT disappoint! Of the dishes I ordered, the two I definitely recommend getting are the pea sprouts, XLB and the shiu mai. The pea sprouts had the perfect amount of garlic and the veggie itself has a fresh taste. It was cooked perfectly as well (although it was a bit oily). The XLB had a huge filling, well amount of soup, and had a strong ginger taste which I love. Ask for chili on the side to spice up your soy sauce! The shiu mai was meaty. The reason why I'm giving it 3.5/5 stars is because the pepper beef was super salty and same with the chow fun. However the meat was super tender so it felt rlly wasteful that I couldn't continue eating it. The har gow skin was too thick for my liking, making it doughy. They're also a good place to get dim sum in Palo Alto (although in my opinion the dim sum prices are still pricey, but that's Palo Alto for you). This time we got the cumin lamb and sautéed broccoli with some white rice. The cumin lamb was very good. It was a bit salty, but this dish usually is. The service was a little slow this time. The cumin lamb was served before the rice so we had to wait a little to get our rice to eat with the dish. But I've gone before and haven't had that problem with the service before so it could just be that time. The inside's really new and clean. It feels modern and warm. Any of the "classic" dim sum dishes will be a good choice for your visit: -Sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaf. I was able to have steam buns (ask for gluten free) and one of the rice noodle dishes safely as someone with celiac, and they have gluten free soy sauce available. Lots of street parking around the restaurant location available. The food is very tasty and savory. I ate the following, -beef basil dish: it was tender and flavorful. It balances out the saltiness of the meat seasoning. -Brown rice on the side was good to balance out the savory flavors of the beef. -Hong Kong noodles with chicken and shrimp: it was filling and there was a good amount of shrimp and chicken spread throughout the dish along with veggies. -I also ordered the shrimp ball appetizer: each one was quite large. It had maybe 2-3 shrimps in each ball with the crispy cover around it and dipping sauce. It had a subtle shrimp flavor, very tasty. The dipping sauce was a little vinegary for me, but I liked the ball with soy sauce. Portions are substantial & reasonably priced (for Palo Alto prices. Compared to other areas with more Asian cuisine available, it would be considered expensive) It's a good amount of food for sharing. I took my leftovers to-go. I got about 3 portions out of my beef order. Service was excellent; my friend and I were seated right away and given a choice between inside and outside. Solid dim sum place in downtown Palo Alto. We went this past Monday, and they weren't super busy. Our waiter was very friendly, too. We ordered the Shanghai Pork Dumplings, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Shui Mai and the Crispy Shrimp Balls. The menu notes how many pieces each order comes with, and that's super helpful! The first three orders came out relatively quickly (less than 10 minutes), but it took a much longer time for the Crispy Shrimp Balls to come after we ordered it (20+ minutes). The Pork Dumplings were juicy, and the steamed buns were soft and fluffy. The Shui Mai has shrimp and that was good, too. These three dishes were good, but not insanely good. My favorite was the Crispy Shrimp Balls. I've never had something like this before, and it was incredible! Totally crunchy on the outside and soft from the shrimp on the inside, yielding the most mouth watering bites. As is the case with dim sum, you won't be full off of a few dishes, you'll likely need several more, especially if you're with a big group. So come ready to eat and shell out some $$ haha! read more

The noodles were particularly bad and heavy (it wasn't clear that they're deep fried vs typically pan fried). You'll be able to find plenty of Chinese places at half this price that taste better. Nice dim sum spot in Palo Alto. I've been to a couple different dim sum places in the area and this one feels a little more modern while still retaining the classic dim sum dishes. Food experience: Overall pretty good! I wouldn't say anything was exceptional or the best I've ever had. The pan-fried chicken buns were the most interest of the bunch and had a nice glaze on top of the bao. The taste wasn't what I expected from a chicken bao, as I thought the filling was a little sour, but the other person I ate with really liked them. The BBQ pork buns had an excellent and sweet filling, and the dough was fluffy and soft which was great. I will say that after they cooled down, the bun got a little denser and wasn't as light or fluffy anymore. The shrimp hargow and shui mai were good, though the shrimp was a little tough to chew through in my opinion and could have been prepared as better fillings. Still, a solid meal overall. Ambiance and Environment: We went at noon on a weekday and there was plenty of seating inside and outside. The whole feel of the restaurant is a little more modern than traditional dim sum places with the white clothes on the tables. Probably one of the few places in Palo Alto serving Chinese food on the more authentic side of things. The restaurant has a really nice modern interior and I really like that wood is everywhere. It was a little quiet on a Friday afternoon so seating was very easy for a group of 7. We ordered a lot of dishes some standard and some Americanized like beef noodle soup, Hong Kong fried noodles, pea shoots, sui mai, ha gao, sliced beef, beef cubes, fried rice, and fried shrimp. They all tasted very good and clearly meant for a dim sum experience which they could try to shift their focus towards. I would love to see what the morning dining experience is like.
