Unfortunately there are companies out there ready to take advantage of emergencies like this. I had such a situation in my hands on labor day weekend. Fortunately, I found Loyear Disaster Restoration Services and they saved me from spending thousands and treated my home with great care. My basement utility room and surrounding carpet flooded with water released from the nearby washing machine. After drying as much as I could and frantically making numerous phone calls trying to find an available plumber (apparently everyone runs into plumbing issues during holidays .... ), I hired Roto Rooter to clear the tree roots from my sewer pipe (partial blockage) and to do the basement water restoration. Well, guess what?, they didn't do either one (see my Roto Rooter review for that story). Finally on Tuesday, day after Labor day, I ran into recommendations for this company and I called them. John Loyear (owner) personally called me shortly after and within 15 minutes their technician arrived to my house (Tyler) as he had just finished a job nearby. He assessed the situation and gave me options. He did what was needed to prevent mold immediately (measured humidity on the walls and carpet, pulled back the base trims and carpet, and removed carpet pad all around the utility room) and left 3 high power commercial fans for days to dry the walls. It was good that I frantically dried as much as I could and placed my fans everywhere when it first happened. A few days later, Gary came and re-measured the humidity on the walls. They were all dry except for a small portion on a baseboard corner so he left the fans for a few more days. Once everything was dried up and per my request, Gary and a carpet installer came back and install new carpet pad, re-stretched the original carpet in place and Tyler came back and completely cleaned the carpet. The whole team was a pleasure to work with from the owner to every technician that came to my house. John (owner) was regularly in contact with his technicians and scheduled any additional request I had very quickly. I got a business card from one of your guys and I'm going to tape it on the walls of the utility room (in case it ever happens again). My basement has never looked as dry and clean as it looks today. They removed the drywall, located the failure, removed carpeting and dried and disinfected the area to a state that was ready for reconstruction. He allowed us time to pick out our carpet from a wide array of samples and was helpful in the selection process. While the counters and cabinets were cleaned well we explicitly asked for all floors throughout the house to be cleaned. There was no mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming in bathroom #1, bedroom #1, bedroom #2, or hallway. While the kitchen, living room, and bathroom #2 may have been cleaned it was poorly done as there is still debris visible on the floors (hair, carrot, tracks from trash can, etc). I would not recommend their services, especially for a deep clean of approximately 1 hour in length.

I continued using them because they did such a nice job. Marion's organization of my home ridded me of a lot of clutter, and made my living area much more functional. I could find anything I needed much more easily, and it became easier for me to maintain my home more easily from day to day. On cleaning days, I easily picked up the basics in the morning or the night before. After the cleaners came & went, I had a nicely cleaned home, and it smelled nice. Other services us harsh cleaners with smells I find irritating, but not Happy Earth. When I was home when the cleaning people were there, they were always very nice people who worked thoughtfully and diligently. They took care of whatever I needed in the amount of time we had planned. When I wasn't home, they came in, properly disarmed my alarm, took care of business, and left my home so it was inviting when I returned. Whenever they had finished the usual with extra time, they filled the time doing extras which I previously listed could be done. If those had been done recently and looked good, they cleaned other things which needed to be done. I highly recommend Happy Earth to anyone who could use a cleaning service. We contacted the company and they did an "internal investigation" and not to our surprise, the cleaners who were in our home never saw any of the items. We are not people who misplace things and had searched extensively for the items prior to assuming the cleaners. But when they're the only other people who enter your home. A police report was filed so that it would be on record. It's a really unfortunate situation, we were very much hoping to support a business with this type of model. But we ended up getting bit. As far as their cleaning quality, I would rate that a C-.
