The basic service itself was fine. They delivered as promised. But, when I tried to leave their…read moreservice then they showed their "dark side". To leave their service, in theory, I needed to call them. Inform them. Then return their products. They said they only wanted their modem back, but I also had their router and I wanted to return that also. They claim that failure to return their devices would result in a $200 "charge". I did not want to have them claim that failure to return the router would result in that charge. Anyway, I was ready to return their devices. But, they have made it seemingly impossible. First, their system seemed to leave me no way to have a documentable contact with them (other than my cell-phone records). In theory they have a "chat" but it was never working. In theory I could email them, but then they wanted me to use a CenturyLink email that they provided - but I didn't have one of those, and couldn't get one because my service was terminated. So, the only way to talk to them was by phone and numerous calls were required. The last of those calls (so far) involved a documented 30 minute "on hold" to connect to a representative. The problem was that to return their devices required a return mailing label. But, I couldn't get it to print when I first tried and then later in this saga I couldn't even get into the place where the label might theoretically be printed (because my service was now cancelled). On my third and fourth calls to them the support person assured me that he would send a hard-copy mailing label so I could return the materials. But, it has not come (over a week later). On my fifth call to them (with the 30 minute wait time) the support person said the return label was sent - but it still has not arrived (almost a week after the time it was supposed to have been sent). So, getting out of their service has been very difficult and still is not over. It had been my intention to "part as friends" - with the intent to come back to CenturyLink if my new provider didn't work out. But, they have poisoned that relationship. There are a limited number of providers in our area for fiberoptic services. CenturyLink was the first, and I'm thankful that I could have their service in the past. So, I've given them two stars - which Yelp calls "Could've been better". But, we all hate the "got'cha" business approach.

Henri the supervisor at Centurylink did not want to help me with the price. Even though i have been with them for 12 years probably longer. I got rid of them today. Utopia finally came to the neighborhood and I could not be happier. They installed quickly, and the service has been flawless so far. There is a large selection of ISPs available, but most of them are suspect in my mind. XMission is the only one with a total usage cap. However, even as a heavy user I've not hit it. By having the cap, it's easier to handle people who abuse the bandwidth setting up spam servers or torrent servers. They are also the only one meeting state of the art security standards like SOC2. Back to Utopia. It just works. I have 250Mbs up and down. That allows me to do full backups of my home to the Cloud. I could never do that with the pitiful upload speed the competition has. Plus it's far cheaper.

As an electrician I just can't for the life of me figure out why that would ever be a good idea. There was sewage leaking through every faucet, drain and toilet.. spraying up onto the air!! This wasn't just her sewer main but also their client's! So apparently their practices are most likely shady and against code. (Classic lazy Utahn business tactics.) My mom had to go stay in a hotel which she couldn't work in due to needing her Internet at home to work. She lost days of work, sleep and had the stress of her house being covered in sewage! I'd say literally go with anything else.

I go the next day to get them, wait about 45 minutes while the one store agent is helping someone else and, still could not pick them up. I honestly don't even remember why. Third time was a charm! Got the phones! Did I mention I was a new customer to Verizon? I was hoping for some help because of number transfers from AT&T. No help at this local. I went to the store in Bountiful, paid $30 just to be told there is an issue with one of the phones and it will not connect to Verizon. I'm told that I have to take it back to the store I picked them up from. no problem, they don't close until 7 and it's 6:15 6:20 when I get to this store. The person working had already shut down everything because they didn't know their holiday hours started that day. No problem, I'll come back again. I return on Saturday, no one is at the store, the person working never gets out of the chair and tells me, they can't help me. Was I angry? Lil bit, then to show how helpful they were they made a pity call to their "manager" who said sorry no, can't help. The moral of this story is, I walked right next-door to the AT&T and returned my service. Now I'm just hoping Verizon sends me the things needed to return the two phones. i should have known it was bad when the person who first helped me quit that very night. Stay away from this store. I'm sure Verizon is ok but, this store is not.
