Talk about an endangered species. I cannot remember the last time I stepped foot in a Steak 'n Shake. It's certainly a remnant of a bygone era of American history. Every one I've been to has the same layout, including this one. Very colorful, vibrant and of course nostalgic. The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was the lack of people (during lunch hour of all times). Pretty much sums up the company in a nutshell and makes me wonder why they haven't completely closed all their locations. Before I knew I found myself surrounded by kiosks, which I'm assuming are there to cut labor costs. Obviously they are convenient and you can ensure your order is made the way you intended, but the lack of person to person interaction really takes the charm away from a restaurant that is trying to live in the past. It also didn't help that some of the kiosks were out of commission, making me wonder if they really care to stay in business? I ended up ordering the garlic double steakburger combo which actually turned out to be satisfying. The French fries were obviously frozen prior, but they are good and they give you a decent amount. While the flavor of the garlic burger was what I expected, it was a bit overwhelming and the bun was just plain messy. I noticed most of the tables were not particularly clean which put a damper on the overall experience. The lack of human interaction was both a good and a bad thing, but service was quick and the food was decent had I ordered a normal burger. There's not much here that would make me want to come back considering there are so many burger places that are much better. Good luck Steak 'n Shake for the rest of this year and beyond.

    Warning - NO waitstaff

Driving by and I see this place. It's been SOOO long since I had a frisco melt. Yup! This is dinner. We get inside and things a little different. I've never been to THIS location before. There is NO waitstaff - only a kiosk to place your order. No one available to take the order. So customers are forced to use the touch screen to order food. I would have probably left at this part, but I now wanted that frisco melt. I ordered and promptly went to the bathroom to wash my hands. There was hand sanitizer near the touch screens, but nothing to clean the screens with. The soda/ tea was self serve, ketchup/mustard as well. We had to ask for a fork. There seemed to be about 4-5 employees working. No one to watch the dining room to assist people dining in or picking take out. Seemed like people picking up needing to "ask" for help. Bathrooms had warm water and were okay.

My wife had a quality burger. It was delicious.

I loved this place. Great food at a very reasonable price. I have to include a picture of this public shaming they just put me through. I hope it's just a one off sorta deal, but my bbq burger was void of bbq... and heat... and flavor. It looked like the Kansas of burgers. Just flat and uneventful. I also added a picture of the menu as I've clearly fallen victim to a bait and switch maneuver. I pray my luck improves next week.

Not melted cheese but still good

We were seated almost immediately, greeted by a pleasant young woman who took us to a comfy booth. Service quickly arrived as we ordered the usual- a water and a piping hot cup of joe. Classic. The menu was full of tantalizing options, each calling our name - "order me...." - and we struggled to decide on the Heavenly Hash, over easy, seasoned fries. Classic. A shared glance at the 'Mexican Omelette' and we knew that I had to order it once again. Served with a crispy spread of home fries and a soft side of toast? Classic. My partner nursed her coffee, a contemplative look on her face, an itch in her fingers for a cigarette. Menthol. Classic. We poured over the local paper looking for clues on our next case.. The Bobcat Bonnie's has a very different vibe compared to Ferndale. I like the vibe of Ferndale better but the food is the same. This location tends to lean more "family friendly" because that's just the type of town Wyandotte is. I prefer a more "bar" setting but it's definitely toned down here. For that, Bonnie's in Corktown is my favorite and will always have a place in my heart! But this location brings the BB spirit regardless. The menu is new American... loaded tots, burgz, rice bowls and a few standard dishes. You'll find a fun spin on old classics, which is one of my favorite things about BB! The lunchy brunch menu is off the chain, and their mimosa and bloody Mary bar is famous for a reason. Hint: I order a "bloody Mary" then make myself a badass screwdriver with OJ, pineapple juice and a few pieces of fruit. Though I do not recommend ordering a mimosa then use the bloody Mary bar offerings :P This is a great spot for lunch, brunch or dinner. Special shout-out to their incredible beer selection and inventive house cocktails.
