I went through the driveway so I can't say what it looked inside. The outdoors grounds appeared well manicured ( the lawn). No trash in the parking lot as far as my eyes can see. Steak 'n Shake in general seems to have lost its appeal. . .they USED TO serve burgers that indeed tasted like "steakburgers" (had that retro/beefy "burger stand" flavor) and the toppings were always fresh. What we got this time around was bland burgers with lower quality-tasting beef and wilted lettuce--not to mention the pickles on mine having a very off and extremely sour taste that made them inedible. (I've never met a dill pickle that I didn't like--what happened here, I haven't a clue.) I also don't think the Frisco sauce tasted the same, which was quite disappointing as well. \Aside from that, the "Kiosk" machine required to place your order turned into a fiasco--"press a button too hard, it won't work--press it too lightly, it won't work." In the time it took us to PLACE the order we could easily have told the guy helping us (or someone else working there) what we wanted (there weren't any other customers there at the time, either ) and likely gotten the food cooked and already been on our way, but, well . . . KIOSK it is, there. (Not the guy's fault--clearly it's a corporate policy.) I would love to see Steak 'n Shake revert back to its "steakburger" days . . . offering those well-loved savory cheeseburgers with the garden-fresh toppings, and more personalized service. Kiosks may work well in highly-frequented restaurants during busy times, but for goodness' sake--if a place is virtually empty, maybe a simple "Can I take your order?" would greatly benefit both the customers and the establishment. read more

Was super excited to try because they now use beef tallow to fry. Ordered on the app to pick up a double butter burger with pickles, large fry, root beer and my husband got a barbecue double burger. I opened my burger and all there is are two patties and pickles. No butter, no grilled onions, nothing. Really disappointing. read more

I LOVE steak and shake. First time at this location. Service was prompt BUT got my burger and it seemed all the sauce was put on the top of the bun. Impossible to eat without getting it everywhere. When I was handed my food I said "thank you" to the lady who handed it to me. I did a double take when I didn't hear anything back and noticed she couldn't hear me because she had ear phones in. I don't want anyone to judge steak and shake on this one store but this one isn't good. It takes next to no effort just to not be listening to music and communicate. Also I understand most of the people who work there are probably high school students. Regardless it's a place of business. I won't be spending my money there again because honestly the food didn't reflect the standards of other steak and shakes I've been to. Just a heads up to anyone eating there. Went to the mentor Steak 'n Shake on 2/8/24 around 530 pm and I was so pleased to see how clean and organized that place is. I used to go to this location when I was younger, I've been going to the willoughby one the past few years and can't believe how downhill that place became. The staff there was horrible, dirty, rude, the place was disgusting. Not surprised it has shut down. So I came to mentor today because I have missed the food so much, and the two women working at the time were so nice and welcoming. The food came out quick , the order was correct, and amazing. Worst service ever. Waited about 10 mins for our drinks. When I asked our waitress if they still made or could make the veggie melt, she snidely remarked "Oh no, we can't do that." Granted said item was no longer on the menu, is available only in limited locations, blah, blah blah. It's bulls*** in this day and age. (Time to step it up with the menu folks.) They already have all of the ingredients on deck, so technically they still could have made it. Should not have even been an issue. But, no no. There was not even an offer of maybe we can put something together for you, let me ask someone. Nope. Zero f***s given. Totally off-putting in a big way. Rude as hell for no reason. This was my husbands first time in Ohio and I wanted him to try the shakes. We went to the drive up window and I order my food. When he tries to order his simple combo, the rude wench at the mic kept interrupting his order to ask "so you mean a number --" "Ok so that's a number --" "So you want a -- with just --" When he said clearly which combo he wanted. Mind you, when I ordered she didn't interrupt me or sass me about the number or combo I ordered. Her tone was shit, and the attitude was completely unnecessary. It was so uncomfortable and strangely hostile my husband got upset and didn't even order a shake. We considered just driving off because I didn't feel like giving our money to rude, miserable workers. If working in fast food makes you so angry maybe you shouldn't work in fast food. Steak 'n Shake is my all time favorite restaurant since my first discovery in 1969 in Florida. I have been to many locations, most decent enough. The grill kitchen is in plain view. Is that what they mean by their slogan, "In sight, it must be right"? Not everyone likes shoe-string French fries so that's not a criticism, just a lack of preference for some. The menu has grown over the decades whilst maintaining a hold on legacy items like the soda fountain milkshakes, steakburger cuts of meat, shoestring fries, hot fudge sundae, the Chili pasta dishes. There's more to explore if I can ever break away from my favorites. And, Steak 'n Shakes are not pricey. Had some of the worst service in my life by far. Ordered very simple meals for three with no special requests and one milkshake. After 45 minutes, no food or milkshake and no stop by for refills. Not sure if it was because we are a gay couple with different race children or just complete incompetence but the other guests who came in at the same time were served, fed, and were checking out by the time we left - completely unacceptable. One of the WORST experiences I have had. On 11/25/2016, When we got there, it took ten minutes to be seated. Then we're told that it would be a 10 minute wait for food because they were really busy. Well, ok, but there were only 2 other tables with people at them. The rest of the tables were covered in dishes. Not a single other table was cleaned. Then a few others came in and we're told the same thing. Then a couple came into the restaurant and waited for about 20 minutes before being sat. Then they were say at a filthy table and when they complained, were told to leave and they called the cops on the couple. We never received our food after a 45 minute wait, so we just left. Been twice and both times my family has had to wait at least 30 minutes for the food to come out. We were trying to grab a quick bite before a movie and had to end up inhaling our food to get there before the movie started. I know this is not a 5 star restaurant but we had the most disgusting experience at this restaurant last night. We stopped for a late meal at about 9:00 o'clock. All seemed fine the waitress was friendly at dressed neatly. However, when we finished, my wife was appalled at the sight of the man cooking the burgers. Is clothing was dirty and disheveled but the most discussing sight was his bare ass in full view. His pants were falling down and his ass was only covered by his untucked shirt except when he stretched or bent over. I guess he didn't have the dignity or self respect to wear underwear. When I paid the bill at the register, I told the hostess that he should pull up his pants. At that time I had a full view of the food prep crew and it was a total complement of a real freak show.
