We ate burgers, fries, Oreo mint shake, and the chili. Everyone's food came as ordered and was yummy. It has all self ordering kiosk. For drinks it prints out QR codes to scan and activate the machines. That was new but cool. You could get refills with the code as well. All staff was really nice and helpful. My only issue was the floors were very sticky. But after a long day I can see that happening many times even with regular cleaning. read more

Wow. Just wow. Me and a party of 50 have been traveling for almost two weeks. We were sick of fast food, and came to this Steak 'n Shake expecting it to be average at best. However, this exceeded our expectations. 20 of us came in and they handled the crowd perfectly. The digital kiosks made it easy for everyone to order and pay. Our food came out so quickly we were in shock! The staff was so friendly and called out our names to deliver our food. They checked up on us multiple times throughout our meal and were nothing short of perfection. The food was so good and cheap which is just what we needed in during this tumultuous trip. Son wanted Steak 'n Shake for dinner wife and son went to pick up food as I had just had surgery that morning. She ordered our food and can back home 15 miles away. Upon checking the food I ordered two bacon and cheese doubles with ketchup, mayo and onion. What I go was two double steak burgers with cheese and ketchup. So my wife and son went back to Steak 'n Shake and upon entering she handed the receipt and food to the manager, the manager opened the sandwiches looked at the receipt and said what's wrong with them. My wife told her what was wrong the manager took the sandwiches to the cook and said put bacon on these and then handed them back to my wife and rudely said there. My wife no anger said you really think I will be leaving here with sandwiches that are now cold as it has been over 30 minutes since they were first made the manager then aggressively grabbed the bag from my wife and the cook then started remaking the sandwiches. He then slid the sandwiches to the manager to finish them. My wife watched them and the manager put ketchup and pickle on the sandwiches and wrapped them up. My wife stopped her and said can you please read the receipt and make the sandwiches right the manager said I DID! My wife now furious said no the receipt clearly says bacon and cheese doubles with ketchup, mayo and onion, and you just made them with no bacon AGAIN and ketchup and pickle! The manager said mam it says pickle! My says check it again! The manager roles her eyes looks at the receipt now unwraps the sandwiches again takes the picked off and throws them back in the bin and grabs onion throws them on the sandwiches and yells at the cook and says put bacon on these the cook not putting the bacon on the grill throws bacon on the sandwiches and they wrap them up and tells my wife to leave. I did not expect my wife to go all the way back to fix this and if I had not just had surgery that morning I would have went the first time And we would have checked the entire order before leaving but my wife wanted to hurry home so I could eat and take my medicine. This was the Steak 'n Shake at 3201 N. Vermilion Danville IL. this is why I don't go through drive throughs and we always check our order right in front of the employees everywhere we go. Not crazy about the whole place your order on the kiosks versus people taking my order but times being what they are I certainly understand. My wife and I entered our order, sat down and waited to be called. When a gentleman came to our table and asked if I was John. I said yes and he delivered our meal, though not quite what I thought it should have been. I asked about the fries we ordered and he said we didn't order any. Moments later he returned with a basket of fries for us on the house. My mistake fixed by someone else. That's the kind of service I won't forget. read more

I'm from Chicago and I popped in quickly to grab a burger and fries before I hit the road. The manager Cathy immediately greeted me and couldn't have been more kind. My food came out exactly as I had hoped and one of the girls from behind the scenes came out and asked how I was doing and if I needed anything else. Found out she was just one of the employees. I came in ordered my food from Bridget who was so nice and kind and was very concerned about getting my order done correctly and quickly even though I wanted it to go , I decided to have it for here so I could rate your kitchen worker and prep work and cleanliness of the restaurant , very clean bathroom which was the first thing I checked out when I first came in to order... The kitchen area and prep area was also clean and the cook and prep always wore there gloves as a safety and health hazard as required.. great job!!! Your drive thru window employee seem to handle everything nicely. By the way , I forgot to mention about when I first walked in I was greater by Ashely who had the nicest attitude and greater me kindly as I walk to the bathroom. Pretty horrible experience. Stopped by during a roadtrip. Took 10 minutes to be noticed by our server, then the kitchen lost our ticket so our food still hadn't come out after 30 minutes of waiting- had to ask a manager to get fries earlier because we were so hungry. Food came out 35 minutes after we ordered (not at a busy time). Our server told the manager multiple times what had happened (The manager told our server that she would "take care of us"). She didn't. She chose not to comp any of our food despite the ridiculous wait for a burger and fries. Our salad never even came out and the fries were cold. All the other food was fine. Drive through is so stinkin slow. It's awful. It's not like I ordered food for 20, it's just the 2 of us. Didn't get my order right. Missing my drink, cheese sauce and honey mustard for my chicken stripes. But guess what. I had to wait so long forget it. Not asking for it to be corrected. Milk shakes are the best in town. I went through the drive through and 3 TIMES I had to go in so they could correct my order 3 TIMES guys. So after the 3rd time of going in my order was STILL NOT CORRECT and I tried several times to tell. So after that I said the hell with it.. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. The drinks taste awful, like they're old, dirty, something, the cheese dip is old and crusty. The food tastes Old and it's just foul.

This is the worst eatery in the Danville area. The restaurant was empty, we ordered a coke in the drive through, we were the only vehicle in line and still had to wait over 4 min for a coke. A fountain drink. A coke. After 4 min we drove away without the coke because no one came to the window. When I called to talk to the manager she was rude and didnt even apologize for the wait. First time to eat at one. Busy place. Tentative staff. Quick service. Clean. Ordered the single burger but after getting it I see why the double is the popular one! I have never seen a burger so thin. I think the piece of cheese might have been thicker. Burger was good. Coleslaw and cherry limeade was good. Turkey club also good.
