Steak ’n Shake - Steak 'n Shake's women's bathroom talk about disgusting.! Smh - Fast Food Near Me - Collinsville, Illinois

Stopped in for dinner on a road trip and we were pleasantly surprised. We had heard about Steak 'n Shake shifting from waitresses to calling out names and coming to the counter to pick-up food. We ordered our food at the kiosk and it came out quick, hot & fresh. The dining area was clean. It was an exceptional value being able to get a burger and fries for under six dollars per person. My son got a cookie dough milkshake that he enjoyed and my husband's onions rings were very good. My only complaint is that the fries were under salted, but that was a pretty easy fix. We were overall very happy with this reintroduction to Steak n Shake and plan to visit more often read more

Never again I placed an order at 3:35 PM. I only ordered three cheeseburgers and they had my order ready by 4:20 PM. It took them 45 minutes to make three simple cheeseburgers and it's not the first time that they take that long to make a simple order. They're not busy and they still take that long to make the order ,no wonder why they always empty read more

We came to dine in on a Wednesday evening around 5:30. Upon first appearance, it was neat and orderly. We ordered on the kiosk, scanned our receipt to get our drinks and was promptly served! Food was piping hot! Hubby's chocolate shake was thick! Main issue was the dining room needed attention. There were napkins on the floor beneath our booth, cup lid and napkins on floor, and service bar with condiments was almost empty. The food was delicious! Burgers hot, slightly greasy, incredible shoestring fries, and their satisfying delicious chili. Cost of our meal was $33.00. read more

This was a solid experience! We came in hungry and the place was empty. I dislike the touch screen ordering. I get it... I just don't like it. The place was clean inside and had plenty of seating. My Reese's Peanut Butter Cup shake was up first. It was everything I was hoping for. Cold and flavorful! My chili 5-way came out next. This was a new experience for me. It's more overcooked spaghetti than it is chili. But it is delicious! I would probably order that again! It was one of those meals where I knew I was full, but it was hard to stop eating. Decent food, good location! read more

This Steak 'n Shake has never let me down, every time I dine in, the food is amazing and the staff is super friendly. Super clean and overall a nice vibe. The Garlic burger is my favorite and I just discovered their amazing onion rings. 10/10 will come again read more

I give TJ the man working the drive thru an A+!!!! He is always so friendly and nice when I go there! I'm glad we still have a Steak 'n Shake in the area. I wish it was still open all night. I love their shakes and it doesn't take long to get my orders. read more

The nostalgia from Steak and Shake is basically nonexistent and feels cold and hollow now compared to only 5 or 6 years ago across all of its locations but this is one of the locations that shine. This place is clean inside and out, fairly maintained. A few good food menu options though most of the ones I know are gone. Good burgers and fries especially. Fairly clean restrooms and never too long for waiting for food to be made. read more

We ordered 35 minutes ago and still waiting for a burger. The drive thru isn't sitting so maybe drive thru only? Won't stop here again.

Horrible customer service. Placed order had delivered by door dash. Door dash brings wrong order and per door dash guy Steak 'n Shake gives wrong order. Call Steak 'n Shake talking to some boy kid finally one of them know and states he will remake food. After 45 mins waiting call numerous times to another boy kid to answer with another one in the background saying why did u answer the phone. He gets on the phone saying he couldn't call and thinking I was calling door dash not my responsible since he messed up the order. So at 851 I tell them I am coming to get order get there and the store is closed. Closed. Now did Th e boy kid say oh we are closing soon! Nope why would they do that. Find 2 cars in parking and sit behind until someone comes out. Then comes a morbid obese woman In White Chevy suv, I assume a mother of the boy kid that was in the car who would t get out till his mommy was there as she calls me childish and to go home I lost money she like that life. To whomever runs at Litchfield, IL. Train your kids they have no meaning to be dealing with the public at all when they don't know how to treat people. read more

Steak 'n Shake is an American icon. I couldn't believe when I went inside. No servers and you have to place your order on a computer. I walked out and will never go here again. Steak 'n Shake no longer exists! I ended up going down the street to Culvers where I was greeted by friendly faces. read more

Just had breakfast here and it was much better then last time. Our server was very friendly and my chocolate chip pancakes were fluffy and sweet! Happy to say this place is back where it should be. 6/25 Stopped in for a quick breakfast while our Buddy is at the groomers. Everything tasted great and cooked perfectly. Our server was a doll! It's going to be a wonderful day when it starts with chocolate chip pancakes! read more

While chewing my food I felt like what seemed to be a bone. There was a piece of wire brush in my burger. Luckily I don't scarf down my food and felt it before I swallowed. I called the store to talk to the manager, he apologized and offered to refund my meal. I declined but suggested to not use wire brushes to clean the grill. read more

Food was alright. The service has gone downhill. You must order on a kiosk then sit down and wait for your order to be called. Then when you finish eating you gotta take care of your own tray. All of that and they still expect at tip. Also I saw a guy who looked to be a manager and should know better use the same utensils to handle raw and cooked products repeatedly. read more

Ordered a couple of burgers and cheese fries, it's my first time so idk what I was expecting but I got fries and a tiny container with cheese. Also it seems like there's only one person working, not her fault. Probably this place is short staffed. The drive thru person was nice and very apologetic for the slower customer service. Food is meh. read more

Fast and friendly! I stopped with my granddaughter at her request. I didn't know the dining room was back open. It is, but you have to order from a kiosk. I know what you're thinking, but it was very easy!! The food was out in no time at all; hot and delicious. As we were eating, another family came in with a gift card. They asked how to use it and the employee saw them struggling. He didn't hesitate to come around the counter and get them all set. Thanks Steak and Shake. I've missed you. read more

New order kiosk makes ordering faster. Food came within 5 minutes and really good. Greatly improved from previous years.

Ordered two bowls of chili in the drive thru and one of them had the lid placed on improperly, which caused it to spill all over the bag and the rest of the food I ordered. The bag ripped and I lost a good portion of my food, which, whatever. Accidents happen. However, my other chili's lid was still intact when my bag ripped, but when I went to eat it, it was NOTHING but broth. No meat, maybe two beans. I legitimately couldn't even eat it because there was nothing solid in it to eat. Not going to lie, it sucked. Burgers were fire, though. read more

The place is packed on Veterans Day. This could only result in deplorable service. Daphne is up to bat as our server. I'm hopeful because I have never seen Daphne in here working before. Here goes the order Bacon Cheese Burger, cup of Chili, Turtle Shake and a Root Beer in a to go cup... To go cup was a no go, single burger came out a double, Shake came out cookies and cream. The place is filthy, although I haven't seen this place clean since Biglari Holdings Inc took over the chain. I'm sure we will be back again, hoping for change... read more

I love Steak n Shake but this place is ridiculous. The last 2 times I've been through the drive thru, they messed up my entire order. I'm now sitting here, in the drive thru going on 26 minutes for 2 double cheeseburgers. They had me pull up b/c they had "technical difficulties with my order." Update, took a total of 37 minutes, no apologies & no cheese on the double cheese burgers. read more

Came here for lunch - ordered two salads. Horrible service. From the time I ordered, two tables around me were seated, ordered, got their food and one had left already before my order came. *Both* salads were wrong and each had only the tiniest bits of protein (one had grilled chicken, the other beef) At this point just ate and left, didn't have the patience to put myself through more. Food: 3 stars - quality and taste fine Service: 1 stars - horrible Ambiance: 3 stars - it's S&S Value: 4 stars - it's S&S OVERALL: 1 stars - not a good experience read more

I was hesitant to come here because of the horrible reviews on the service and wait time. But it was the closest burger joint and I wanted to try it. The first wait was a little long l. It just seemed like the waiting staff was a bit frazzled . Half the tables weren't cleaned so I had to wait until they cleaned one and then was seated. Then I waited a bit longer for my server to take my order. But after that, it was fine. The food came quickly. They accommodated to my low carb diet by substituting the fries for a salad and wrapping my Royale Burger in lettuce. The server was very nice. The burger was excellent. I'd come back again to try another burger if I'm in town. read more

Located in Collinsville on the belt line, this Steak'n Shake is typically pretty busy. It had been a fairly long time since I had last eaten at this restaurant, this was due to the fact that my last few experiences were less that favorable. It appears that it is under a new manager and the server, Madison was outstanding. It was very busy and almost every table was full, that being said, she provided a great customer service and our food came out quickly and hot. The server Madison was so good, that I actually ask to speak with the manager to let him know how great her service was. I had the double steak burger and a cup of chili. Both were very good. read more

One star is generous. Let me start by saying...at the time we went in, it was not busy. Waited entirely to long to even be acknowledged for a seat. We finally were seated and the waitress didn't take our drink orders for a bit. Eventually made it back with our drinks. Then we ordered. Well. Food took forever. As usually, food was good. Can't complain. We never got drink refills. Ate for under $20 for three people. So that's a plus. Stood in line to pay and woman checking me out was not pleasant for manager. Oh yes, the best part. Bathroom was not well kept. Took care of business and guess what?!?!! No toilet paper. That's just great. Really wish I would have chosen a different restaurant. read more

My mom and I went in on a Sunday. It wasn't very busy when we got there. The first thing we were told was that they were out of shakes and also pickles. The waitress said a convention wiped them out. Terrible excuse. The manager or an employee should have got some from another location. It took 30 minutes to get our order and it was cold. We returned it and my mom's order was wrong and my meat was unusually small. A triple was barely a double. The bathroom was dirty and out of paper towels. The lobby was also dirty. They were also understaffed. We were very disappointed. read more

If only there were an option to give no stars. This is by far, hands down the worse Steak and Shake you could ever go to. Stay far away especially if you're traveling and passing through and are wanting to keep good time read more

Get what you pay for. My $1.25 salad had some slimy pieces, I only got 1/2 a little cup of dressing. My fries looked to be partially cooked - like too many were shoved in the fry basket. The Parmesan fries are a joke. Server brought me one drink refill hubby got no refill and when we asked for to go cup it took 9 minutes to get it. Waitress seemed scattered a bit. read more

Food tasted good, but the overall environment and experience was terrible. For the 35 minutes we sat in the dining area, a gentleman working in the kitchen was repeatedly yelling and throwing around objects out of anger - I assume because his staff from the night before did not close up correctly the night before. I would not consider this place to be good for a family outing, as it was extremely uncomfortable and awkward. For reference, we showed up shortly after they had opened up for the day so it is possible that it was just a rough start to his morning. However, the slamming and yelling noises were a little unnecessary in my opinion. read more

I think that the food is amazing but the place is kinda dirty. also the service is ok. The food takes a while to get.

Consistently poor service. Food is mediocre. The waitstaff seems to disappear. Waitresses consistently came out from the back with a mouthful of food while multiple tables are waiting to order drinks and food. I won't be back. Certainly wouldn't recommend this location. read more

I stopped by here for dinner this evening while staying in Collinsville for the night. I figured at 9 PM on a Sunday that it would be quick. The big problem was that there was really only 1 waitress serving 75% of the dining room. The other 25% was tables full of LOUD potty mouth teenagers that seemed to be friends of some of the staff. Instead of helping out the young lady that was waiting on me and many other tables, they served and chatted with their friends. When my food finally arrived, the fries were cold. I did not mention it since the young lady was already overwhelmed. Yes, I did leave her a decent tip. $2.00 on a $6.00 check. The management needs to be noticing these things and telling the staff that the restaurant is not their clubhouse. read more

Hee. THis is the place to be. Oh how I wish we had Steak n Shakes in Socal. When ever I come to town to visit my rellies in C'Ville, I end up at this S&S. The double cheeseburger, wtih pickle, fries, and a chocolate shake. And a cup of chili. Seriously the BEST chili. I know, that's a lot of food, but trust me, it's worth it. The only bad thing about this place is people smoke in the restaurant. They ask you smoking or non smoking? LOL, it ALL smells like smoke. read more

This was the worst time I have ever been eaten out there. We had no silverware to eat with, it took half an hour to get our food, and some of our food didn't come out and we had to ask for it and it took them 5 minutes to get it to us. stopped in at 1230am after a NASCAR truck race at gateway motor sports park. the place had been slammed and looked like a tornado went through. took quite awhile to get seated. our server who was so nice told us only 2 servers we're on the floor and be patient. felt sorry for her as she was working her butt off. the place was still busy and dirty tables everywhere. finally I saw the manager come out and deliver some food and clean some tables. the food is always so good. read more

If you want rude, slow, unprofessional service, this is the place for you. The sheer amount of time you wait in the drive-thru line allows you ample opportunity to regret your decision to visit this establishment. In case this isn't depressing enough, when you realize your order is incorrect and go inside to rectify the issue, you can really experience the staff's lack of morale and work ethic. The unapologetic attitude helps remind you that you're not important, which just reinforces the general vibe of the place. read more
